Dave here.

Whoa. No one can ever say BFF fans aren't loyal. Let me impart a tale, yes?

When the first album came out, i was in love with it. Great arrangement, super
lyrics, just an all around cool album. I wrote the guys. I got a letter (hand-
written) from the three that are five, and i was happy. The next album came
out. Again, great. I wrote them again. Recieved a form-letter from Sony. Neat.

NBP came out. I was really excited. Then i listened to it. I heard somewhere
that the boys had to fulfill a deal with caroline. I could tell. Then the
whole Brick shit happened. I can't tell you how upset this made me. Then, Last
thursday, I was in my car and heard on the local teeny-bopper station that the
boys were "shitting out a soundtrack" to the Godzilla movie. This made me
angry.

I want them to strike while the iron's hot. But, to have them cash in on a
song that isn't their best and make a buncha money from 13 year olds who have
no idea what any of the songs on WAEA or the 1st one are about, is just
irritating.

I can see we have a lot of you on the list. My mailbox has been full for 2
days thanks to your hate mail. I read the armchair. I wasn't expecting
accolades, but you all are making personal attacks. So I'm a prick. So I'm
sophmoric. Super. If Ben read that (the song), he'd take it in stride. Just
calm down. I wasn't raping or pillaging, i was commenting. This list has gone
from a group of nice young folks to a buncha angry white kids with trust funds
and not much else. I should be able to spout off without getting pelted with
put-downs.

Let me make fun. I've been around the guys long enough to have earned it. If
you can't see that they've sold out, then you're blind or stupid. Quit
clogging the list with remarks about the telephone in "SLNT". if you don't
like something, come up with a better idea.

And if you can't take a joke, fuck off.

Stirrin up Trouble,

dave

I just wanted Hannah Kuhlmann and everyone else to know that I agree with them
that Dave-o's little parody of Brick was out of line.

I would just like to say that the bf5 song parody thing was really
cute...heh. Why the hell do people like you post on the armchair anyway?
Also...I just want to give Hannah a big through the armchair hi-5. You said
it, and I think most of the people on the armchair back you.

first off, a big happy birthday salute to Robert, who must be pretty happy
that he isn't touring on his special day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
about BF5 covering "Pretty Woman":a couple weeks ago a guy in my gym locker
room was singing "pretty nipples" which i think would be a better way for them
to do the song.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
about the Godzilla soundtrack:i first heard about this last year and that they
were originally asked to cover a Todd Rundgren song, but i guess they decided
to write their own song. i think people(particularly the guy who wrote that
unfunny smarmy "song")are stressing out way too much about it. need i remind
you that this will be the third song they've recorded for the soundtrack for a
major motion picture(the other two being "Song For The Dumped" which
originally appeared on the "Mr. Wrong" soundtrack and "Bad Idea" which
originally appeared on the "Truth About Cats & Dogs" soundtrack). the Godzilla
song will probably be a fun hearty rock number since it is an action film.
btw, if you want to talk about sellouts, the Godzilla soundtrack will also
feature versions of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" by Puff Daddy and Rage Against
Your Parents, i mean Machine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i was in Baltimore over the weekend and heard WHFS heavily advertising BF5's
live performance on "Just Passing Through" which was set to air on Sunday just
a few hours after i was to leave town. luckily, my friend Kelly was gracious
enough to tape it for me and in two weeks when i return to Baltimore she'll
give me the tape and i may be inclined to trade it with you fine Armchair
folks, so big props to Kelly. the appearance was taped last Saturday in
Rockville, Maryland and they did about 30 minutes of performing(i don't know
which songs yet).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
that thing about "Homeboy's got some tricks" has to be the funniest thing i've
ever read on this board.
sorry about this long-ass post, i had some things to say.

For anyone who is mocking the boys for opting to do the Godzilla soundtrack...

  They already did "The Truth about Cats and Dogs" soundtrack. duh, you say.
Remember the title? Bad idea! That's what they thought of doing a
soundtrack. Obviously they'd rather do other things. But at this point in the
game (with their rising fame and success at new levels) they can't afford to
turn anything down. It'd be like shooting themselves in the foot. The
industry would think "oh those BFF pricks. They think they're too big for
Godzilla." No way. They're not dumb. Godzilla will lead to bigger and
better things (no pun intended). Do the crap now and cash in later.

  That's my 2 francs.

To the BB5 "fan" (Dave-O with Kung-Fu Grip) that wrote that snazzy =
Godzilla parody: here's a thought - if you don't dig BB5, then get the =
f___ off the distro! I'm here to get news about my old neighbors (in NC) =
- - not to listen to mindless dribble from a rhyming 15 year old with =
daddy's new laptop. Keep it up and I'll get off distro - promise.

On selling out: if Sony doesn't make money, the boys don't get to record =
anymore albums - that would suck. If the boys don't make any money, they =
won't WANT to record anymore albums and that would suck too! We (as =
fans) should do all that we can to insure their success.

Be a friend - tell a friend. Support your local BB5!

Subject: similarities and such

	It really isn't neccessary to be writing all these similarities between
BF5 songs and other songs because in all the years that songs have ben
written you know that riffs and lyrical flows are going to run out, it's
inevitable folks, and it's going to be happening more often, myself I don't
find a whole lot of similarity between any of the pairs mentioned on the
list so far. Just enjoy the music and the fact that it was written, thank
you for your time

Subject: Covers & "B" bands

Hi all!

Just had to add my .02 cents to the covers thread - I love the ideas of BFF
doing the Bitch is Back by Elton John & the Inspector Gadget theme song was
brilliant!! I also love the idea of a BFF broadway show...it would be much
better than Rent!! But I would love to hear them cover any really old blues
song, like a Johnny Copeland (anyone else out there heard of him?) or Muddy
Waters - Do you think the boys could handle the blues? Just an idea....

Something else that has been bugging me lately....has anyone else out there
noticed that quite a proliferation of GOOD or at least different and
INTERESTING music seems to come from artists and bands that start with the
letter B??? For example, my favorite artists and the best concerts I have
been to all seem to start with B:

Ben Folds Five
Ben Harper
Bogmen
Built to Spill
Buckley, Jeff
Blues Traveler
Beck

I'm sure people could add more. Isn't that strange or is it just me?
