It seems that one of the most wonderful songs in the world has been a
victim of that horrid block of cheese, Dawson's Creek.
My friend informed me that they played it as some couple broke up and at
the end credits.

What is this?!

Janet.
Everyone watch "Zero Effect", the most underrated movie of the year.

Item #A: The Flaming Lips appeared on Beverly HIlls 90210 because of
their "big hit single." They did it because they thought it would be
like the Brady Bunch of this Generation...probably should have done
Saved by the Bell. BF5 is doing Godzilla because of their hit single,
sort of. Should have done a Peter Ceterra-esque love number for Beverly
Hills Ninja.
Item #2: Stray Cats=good band to cover.
Item #D: B- named Bands, I noticed this as well a few years ago.
S-bands too. I won't bother with a list-too long.
Item #III: Dave-O, I don't hate you. I hope that gives you a warm fuzzy.

Oklahoma Joe, amid a lot of Joes on the list.
PS Dave-O, I'm not gay...not that there's anything wrong with that!

Subject: Popularity of Brick

I don't know what's going on in the rest of the world, but Brick just isn't
that popular in NYC yet. At least as far as I know. I haven't really been an
avid radio listener lately, but it's no Semi-Charmed Life. Also I don't know
any teeny-boppers who like it ( that could be because I don't know any teeny-
boppers). By the way, did anyone catch Evaporated at the end of Dawson's
Creek? That should spawn some very heated "sell out" debates. Personally I
think that show is such a soap opera that it might become a wierd cult hit. I
mean no one in the show is really that attractive. So having a Ben Folds Five
song on the soundtrack is like having on song on the Rocky Horror soundtrack.
It's sort of corny, but you gotta them props. Does that make sense to anyone?

Hmmmm....ok well so much for the idea of writing about how they
played Evaporated at the end of Dawson's Creek and thinking I might
of been the only armchair-ite to notice it.......ANYWAY

I just thought I would bring to everyone's attention how HILARIOUSLY
wrong the lyrics are at www.lyrics.ch (as @nn@ already mentioned...)
I seriously peed in my pants when I read them. An example:
**********************
Bad Idea - - -

Pull over the car
Pull over the car
I think I see a fly fisher
Pull over the car
Pull over the car
My dad wants to break up with your sister
*******************

WHAT?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL
I know it's not a joke cause it's not a satirical website, but does
anyone know where the hell they pulled that out of???? For that
matter, does anyone know the real lyrics to Bad Idea? I'm tired of
making them up when I sing. Actually I just want to know what he says
in the very first verse...Pull over the Car, Pull over the car, I
think I see ___________???? WHAT? What does he see????? HELP!!!!!

one is an opinion and the other is an uncertain genarlization.

I'm suprised that this many people actually watch a show on WB network.
Apparently the show at least has some good taste in music, but from what I
am gathering about this show from comments, it seems like another 90210 or
something similar. Anyway, glad to hear the boys contributed to a good
heartfelf moment.

I graduated from Carolina a year ago (GO HEELS!!!!) and like most people who
went to school there or live nearby, I love college basketball. I was
wondering, the boys being from Chapel Hill and all, if anyone has ever
conversed with them about b-ball or if they even care at all. It's just a
matter of curiosity.

Okay.
1. I wrote in about Dawson's Creek wednesday morning, thinking that I
would be one of the first to alert the armchair. Apparently not, as my
post is not even in the first digest that mentions it eight times.

2. Shara Hoffman and I described hearing the song in a very similar
fashion, using some of the same words, even, I think. Strange strange
strange.

3. What are we all watching tonight?

2. if they're touring in may, they'd better hit the south!
3. BFF on Dawson's Creek: you know, kevin williamson (the writer of the
show) is from NC and the show is filmed in wilmington, so i'm thinking
it's cool that the whole NC connection thing was working there. maybe
K.W. is a fan...
4. about the dave-o bashing: please stop. i was kinda mad at first, but
then i talked to him and he's really just a nice guy who's frustrated at
the negative effects of BFF's growing fame, just the same as most of us,
but he expressed it differently. get over it, we're all entitled to our
opinions!!
5. i'm really starting to get to my friends...my best friend emailed me,
subject line "i wanna be kate!" b/c she had the song going through her
head thanks to me and the BFF tape i made her. yay!
6. i think it would be really cool if BFF ever had Bus Stop or Snuzz open
for them, if both parties would be up to it. it'd be alot better than the
venus fly trap girls...

Okay, I was going to lurk for like, the rest of my life, but I'm really
distressed. (And kind of upset, actually, that no one else has posted
anything about this yet.)

Let's PLEASE stop the fighting, at least on the Armchair! Geez, if Ben Folds
Five fans can't get along, who can? I'll be the first to admit that I'm
ABHORRENT (did I spell that right?) at this huge animosity that's built up.
It's like (sigh) being at high school. Where I am everyday. Which I come
home to escape from. Anyway, now I'M being pugnacious. My whole point is
that we should be beyond this kind of fight. I assume that everyone knows how
to use individual e-mail, right? OK. I LOVE YOU KIDS!

By the way, another B band: Barenaked Ladies! (and I'm glad I saw Jeff
Buckley up there! RIP Jeff.)

Toodles!
Sara

P.S. Is anyone else planning on following BFF around this summer? I've got a
posse of five people. We're going to rent a van and cook on a grill. Oh, but
only for a week! I have to get college money! Ack!

with harmonica and banjos in the background. I'm not that arrogant as to post
a poory-syllabized (i know that's not a word) "brick parody". I'm much too
arrogant for that. I posted an original song. Sorry for the confusion.

G'day

This is my first post, so bear with me.
I personally don't think Brick is similar to any other song that I have
heard, but a friend of mine, who hates BFF, said that when he heard the
start of brick, he thought it was REM's Nightswim(which I have never
heard), he also said that Helen Rasier (Triple J afternoon radio announcer
in Australia) also said the same thing.
I haven't been on the list long, and I have never seen anyone else mention
this, so I thought I would bring it up, though, like I said, I have never
heard Nightswim, so I don't know about it's legitimacy.
