Since we're all talking about Dawson's Creek and stuff, I have a question.
On the first episode of Road Rules, when they are bungy jumping, they
played One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces in the backround. Did anyone
else notice that?

Okay, a day or two ago I was intently studying my WAEA cd cover, & a
strange thought occurred to me...
Is the material behind the writing & pictures possibly from maybe Ben's,
Darren's or Robert's boxer shorts??? I've noticed (through reading many
many reports of recent concerts) that all three seem to like boxers a lot,
so...???
Just a thought....

Hi guys,

First off, it's not "I see a fly fisher." I'll tell you why:

First off, a friend swore it said "I see some sweet scrotum." But,
y'know...,so, I e-mail Ben Folds Five, and the lady that takes care of the
mail said it's "I think I see some squirrel sim." Don't ask me what that is,
but, it came from a BFF employee.

Hi Everyone,

I have the opportunity to buy W&EA and one of the Underground
singles on vinyl, and I was basically wondering if these are rare (ie:
should I snap them up right now before they disappear??). Is BFF
material readily available on vinyl in the US?

Thanks for your help,
Jodie

Well, the piano part of the verse is similar to the beginning of "Tiny
Dancer" by Elton John. I have a whole web page that explores BF5 songs
that have similar parts as other songs. Check it out. :-)

To which I reply:

I can't believe you took the effort to ostensibly point out to
everyone that my seven-note melody is wrong, without bothering to take
the EVEN SMALLER effort of TELLING EVERYBODY EXACTLY WHAT THE "CORRECT"
SEVEN NOTES ARE! My, how helpful you are to slam my transcription
without posting a better substitute. If you really have better tab, then
let's see it already!

I listened to the CD again, and now I hear that there's a very subtle
variation. The bass alternates between these two lines:

    F, G A C, D F
    F, A# A C, D F

This is barely different from my original post, although it's technically
slightly more accurate.

I certainly welcome corrections to my transcriptions (either this one or
the ones posted on my web site), but you've got to do better than saying
"that ain't it" and not offering any actual corrections. If you don't
actually have something HELPFUL TO CONTRIBUTE, then why bother
criticizing my own effort?

Kaplan, that is too 2 cents... You are right though, that it is 2/100, but
that's what pennies are. Takes 100 of them to equal $1.00..... What do you
think $0.50 equals?? 50 cents.... Hmmm....
Anyways, thats not why I'm writing this. I have to write a research paper
for my english class this semester and one of the requirements is to have an
interveiw with an expert in you feild... Well, I'm racking my brain to try to
think of a Ben Folds controversy that I could use ( it had to be anything that
falls under either Love, Freedom or Prejudice). Couldn't think of ANYTHING
that my teacher would allow me to do, so I came up with the Pearl Jam vs.
Ticketmaster case. Falls under freedom, I guess.
So, I got a shit load of info and everything, but now all I need is someone
to talk to about this. Doesn't HAVE TO BE AN EXPERT, but someone that just
knows some stuff. It would help me tremendously.
Please email me at Sarah85520@aol.com with ANYTHING that I could use about
either Pearl Jam or Ticketmaster.

Ben Folds 5 site under "Stuff "doesn't work, please tell me.. I've been
calling for weeks and get the same busy signal. I know they're a popular band,
but I highly doubt that they're so popular, their hotline is busy 24/7. I
gotta get them t shirts soon. I've been to every music store around here, but
no one even carries a poster about them. Pisses me off. Anyone else know how I
could order those shirts before the world has em but me??

I was watching some little sketch (I think on NBC) a few weeks ago about
how one can compare the Seinfeld characters with members of the Chicago
Bulls. And while they were interviewing Jerry Seinfeld himself, the intro
to Tom and Mary comes in. I mean, you talk about coming out of the
woodwork. Anyone else see this?

Secondly, can I please just do a little comparison of my own? Let's see if
you understand the point I'm trying to make: [sarcasm included]
"You know, I'm really sick of all these people bandwagoning on BFF. I
mean, the only reason they are fans is because they just heard one song on
the radio. I mean, these 'Undergroundheads' as I like to call them know
nothing about the band. Underground is just way too popular. I wish it
was the old days."

I'll leave it like this---anyone get it?

**3 Gods anda Plastic Jesus **

(chorus)
They took away all'er gods and called us heathens
Now all we got is this plastic Jesus
And humans made,
of flesh and blood

Camille Paglia was probably right
One god would never satisfy our appetite
So lets worship a band,
or a preconceived notion

Let's take these guys who call themselves five
Three young things we can sacrifice
To our needs,
and our longing

Say something bad and we'll flame your site
Any kinda dribble will justify a fight
Cause wit provokes,
grand standing

Starting next week we'll form a cult
Lyrics by Bukowski, Gore Vidal can be the Pope
And we'll worship,
three gods in a fan zine

Yes, yes - I know! It's not as good as dave-o. What what is?

I dont know if that is correct or not because i never looked at those lyrics,
but I can tell you that other lyrics are wrong. I looked up Sebadoh, Dinosaur
Jr., Beastie Boys, and others and they all had wrong lyrics....so it is more
than likely that the BF5 lyrics are wrong.

ok....just to add to the craziness:
How about if BF5 covered "Brand new love" by the almighty Sebadoh?
I dont think I even need to say how much that would rock. Superchunk proved
to me that it could be done...BF5 could only improve it.

Also, to DesByrne, good quote.

Subject: "Battle" import singles up for grabs...sorta

Hi there. First off, I *finally* got around to purchasing Naked Baby Photos,
and dang... it's cool.

Secondly, I just acquired the "Battle of Who Could Care Less" import CD
singles that were given out free early last year in promotion for the BFF
album. Extra ones, I mean: I already have both of these singles. One of
them has "Battle..," "Hava Nagila," and "...Fanny Packs." The other has
"Battle...," "Champagne Supernova," and "...Dr. Pyser."

Basically, I'm looking to trade stuff for these singles. Nothing amazing or
spectacular. I have no interest in bootlegs. What I really want to trade
these singles for are BFF stickers, or other imports. Or pins, patches,
buttons... if such things even exist. If not BFF stickers, then other "good"
band stickers/pins/buttons/etc (like Weezer, Nerf Herder, DEVO, Man or
Astroman?, Southern Culture on the Skids, etc....). I'm not gonna be asking
for anything huge... I guess I'll just see if anyone actually takes me off on
this offer. Otherwise, I'll give the imports to some friends.
