yeah, i love "missing the war" and "fair", songs that are never talked
about. but what about the first album? nobody ever talks about "best imitation
of myself" or "the last polka". the first album is awesome, but often
overshadowed by WE&EA for some strange reason.

Ok, think of the most terrible backstreet boys top 40 radio station around.
Well, the one in Jackson (Y101 if anyone knows it) decided to make me furious.
Every morning they take a stupid song from the radio and take the lyrics out,
and play it really fast till it sounds like a polka. The game is called guess
that polka. Well guess what song they did this morning! You guessed it. Brick
doesn't make a very good polka. I was really pissed off. It was like they tore
the song apart.

READ ON IF YOU LIVE IN INDIANA

Then they (out of the blue, I was screaming my head off I was so surprised)
took a song from a BOB AND TOM show, and then played it, without giving any
credit to the show!!!!!!!! Then they gave the song the wrong name! It was
(this is what they called it) "Da man song" That's wrong I know, but it's that
song that goes "He's the Man, he's the man" and then it goes "A man's gotta do
what a man's gotta do, and I'm gonna do what you tell me to, cause the man of
the house when you're not around." You don't know how flabbergasted I was to
hear Bob and Tom laughing on a Mississippi radio station on my way to school.
It blew me away........Sorry for rambling, but I thought some Hoosiers out
there could relate. I missed my Bob and Tom since I moved, and basically I
didn't want it on THAT station.
Thanks,
Lucy

hey everyone, i'm new to the list and all, my name's amanda, i'm a 15
year old high school sophomore from pembroke, massachusetts. i am completely
and totally obsessed with RENT, its a musical, and beyond that "if you have to
ask, you'll never know."(unless you actually care, which i'm sure no one
does). i've worshipped ben folds five for not that long, so i only have one
cd (whatever and ever amen) and i've never seen them in concert, but ah well i
still think they're my favorite band and kick ass, etc., etc. on that note,
since i'm sure i sound like an absolute flake and wouldn't want to say
anything that might convince you's otherwise.....

fare thee well, love and mooooos, (a)manda

i've never noticed a ringing in 'brick,' but i do know what sounds exactly
like a telephone ringing in SLNIT, right at the part where the instruments cut
out for ben to sing "last night in town!!" towards the end. followed by
somebody laughing. i mean possibly its some kind o woodwind trill i've never
heard, but they record in a house.....ah well, just commenting. and i'll
listen for that ringing in 'brick'.....maybe its the same thing only less
noticeable because they're playing over it.

Subject: Brick airplay isn't THAT bad

So today... was a pretty good day. I was hearing Ben Folds left and right.
First off, I remembered to grab my WAEA cd for my friend Mark to borrow. So
here I am sitting in first hour Bio and its soooo boring. So I whip out the cd
and ask my teacher to put it in to wake me up some. This teacher, who usally
puts in elevator music for us to work to, put it in. It was a little odd to
hear it in my science class, but I couldn't help myself, and started to sing
along. Every once in awhile, I would glance over at my teacher and he would be
tapping his feet or trying to be Darren on the drums. Hmm..... After he gave
me my cd back at the end of the hour, he was, "Sarah, thats a REALLY good
cd... Wanna bring it back tomorrow?" So I don't know whether to think of that
as a compliment comming from a guy who listens to elevator rock or what.. Oh
well, I liked the fact the I can bring it along manana with me.
Also, when I got home from school I was looking at the magizine pics that
I have up on my closet for some strange reason, and was looking at one of the
BFF ads that I clipped outta the CMG mag this month, and right at the bottom
is~
Management: Alan Wolmark and Peter Felstead at CEC...... Hence the part
from '....Fannie Packs.' Sorry if someone already posted that info, but I
didn't think so.
PLUS, when I was driving back from the dentist this afternoon, no cavitites,
as usual! Brick came on as the number one song fer the day. I was on the
street that I live on, but cranked it up and drove around the block till it
was over.
It's not like I like the song that much, not even close. I practically can't
stand it anymore. It's just, the fact that Ben and the guys are getting the
airplay is what I love!! Honestly, I'm always calling up the so-called
Alternative station here in the Windy City and requesting BFF... I know all
I'll hear is Brick fer the millionth time, it's just the point that it's over
the radio and others are listening to em along with me. Letting everyone else
hear the band that I love soo much. It's the fact that I don't always have to
pop in one of their cds to hear them. They're already on the radio. In truth,
if I'm listening to WAEA, I most likely skip Brick. Depends on the mood I'm
in. But, to see them on tv occasionally and flip through magizines and see
them in there, and in my case, hear them on the radio, is so nice and long
awaited. Here in Illinois, Brick is and was the only thing that people know
them by. We never had the release of Underground and they barely played OAD,
soo..... Even though I agree 100% with the fact that Brick is way too
overplayed, it's comforting to hear that soulful voice and familar piano when
I've got the radio on... Don't you agree???
Always tryin to get more fans around here....
Sarah
