hello, list.

long time no post.

i used to be a fairly prominent person on this list for a very very
short time like a year ago. i've been lurking for a long long while.

anyway, i've got general admission tickets for the indianapolis show.
of course, who doesn't? i'm SO mad about that. i figure that at 19
i'll be one of the oldest people there, so i can beat up the 12 year
olds and take their seats in the upper pavillion.

no. i wouldn't really do that.

well, maybe.

anyway, if any armcharite-type people want to meet up at the show, i'd
be glad to do it. i might have a big group with me (i bought 6
tickets).

let me know.

man, i just saw radiohead last week in chicago and now bff at the end of
may. does life get any better than this?

Although I of course loved seeing the band playing a "new" song, I think
they were NOT at all used to their abilities. I mean a song like
"raindrops" screams for great harmonies and Darren and Robert don't even
get mics? I liked it as it was but think it could have been INCREDIBLE.

Brick is number 9 on the MTV top 20. Also interesting, they are ahead of Puff
Daddy, Mase, and a number of Rappers. I guess I shouldn't mention that Marcy
Playground is #1 on the top 20.

I just watched the guys on TNT for the Burt Bacarach tribute. I didn't even
know who that Burt guy was, but as long as Ben Folds Five was playing I didn't
care. Prior to tonight, I only knew him from the reference to him in Austin
Powers.
I watched it with my mom and dad, which I thought would be a bad thing.
They knew I was going to their concert in Cincinnati May 19th (yes!) but
hadn't heard anything they played before (even "Brick"). Turns out they
really liked the version of "Raindrops" they performed. I was surprised.
Anyway, during the performance, I'm sure anyone who watched it noticed that
everyone from the orchestra to Burt to the band were all looking at each other
and smiling. My guess was that Burt looked like he was having a seizure when
he was listening to the performance. I guess I had to be there. They did
look cool in their suits, though. Oh, one more thing; it seems like every
time a see a clip of them playing live Ben is straddling the stool he is
sitting on. That looks like it would hurt after a while. I've said enough.

To anyone who is going to the Ben Folds Five concert May 19th when they play
at Bogart's in Cincinnati-- do you plan to tape it? If so, I'd love a copy.
I know this is early, but I'm really excited and figured I should ask now
before I forget. E-mail me and we can work something out. And since some
people are mentioning this, here are five great bands besides Ben Folds Five:

Soul Coughing
They Might Be Giants
Violent Femmes
Dave Matthews Band
Barenaked Ladies

UPDATE : they still haven't heard back from Ben Folds Five on the interview.
But there is news which I see in a bad way, and a good way. The D.J I am friends
with Skip, won't be working next week...someone else will be.
I think Sal (the other person I knw there) is, but Skip was the guy who promised
me everything. Now I dunno if he's passing the message onto whoever is filling in
for him. But I sure as hell hope so.
I'll ring him tonight and tell him...I might have to find out who is taking over
and have a word to him about it.
I think with this other guy, he wouldn't know alot about them...(I hope) and may
be easier to tell what questions to ask..

Any ideas of what to do???
Don't forget I'll be choosing the best questions that are sent to me at: julianne@ronscomputers.com.au

i'll try my hardest to get them answered, but I can't promise anything. Hey at least
I can make one of these crappy interviews on commercial radio stations interesting
:)

Celine Dion is. Can we go back to discussing BFF now? The USA/England

North Carolina has some good things...let's talk about them...

OK, it appears I have angered some of you lovely Americans with my rant on
the cack you have dished out to us. It seems that some of you think it's
alright to slag off everything good about the UK, whilst expecting us
placid, shy, reserved gentlemen and gentlewomen to just sit back, smile and
take it. Well, I for one will not stand for it. I know that this has little
(like nothing) to do with BFF, but when it comes to national pride, I feel
I must speak out. I promise you that this will be the last time I clutter
up the posting with a rant of such nature, and I would like to make it
clear that I am not anti-American. If I was, then (a) I wouldn't be on the
posting in the first place, (b) I wouldn't reckon that Simpsons and South
Park are awesome and (c) I wouldn't holiday out there. Just lay off our
country, alright?

But on an entirely pure BFF note - does anyone know if there's any support
for the Forum gig - or can we be down the local drinking establishment til
8? Secretly I hope Capri are supporting again. No, I do. Really.

Cheers

Luke
