TO REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THIS MAILING LIST
   Send an e-mail message to:
          armchair-request@maillist.il.fontys.nl
with the word
          unsubscribe
in the message body. Please DO NOT POST UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST
ITSELF! If you are having trouble, send mail to
          owner-armchair@maillist.il.fontys.nl
and I will try to help you. To change your address, first unsub yourself from
your old address, then subscribe using your new account.

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR {SUMMER | EVER}!!
If the above statement applies to you, be sure to unsubscribe from
the Armchair if you will not have access to your e-mail account over the
summer. Otherwise, your mailbox will fill up and the system administrator
at your school will be one angry dwarf...
Accordingly, very soon I will begin purging the mailing list of any
address that bounces for any reason (e.g., too many hops, mailbox full,
no route to host), not just 'user unknown'. If you find yourself
unsubscribed, this is probably the reason.

THANKS A THOUSAND
With the passage of 1,000 issues of the Armchair I'd like to thank
everyone for their contributions to the success of the list. We have a great
group of fans and the band is very appreciative of your support.

Crickets on "Cigarette", though intentional, I feel.
Telephone on "Steven's Last Night..." Definitely not intentional, if
fact you can hear laughing after the phone rings. Sounds just like
mine, and used to freak me out for a while because I thought my phone
was ringing. Great stuff. They must have an AT&T cordless laying
around! Take care.

Also, since someone mentioned some poor misguided person comparing Ben
Folds Five to Hanson, I thought I'd ask if you guys have had the
experience of leaving the NBP CD laying around and having a
friend/co-worker/relative ask if it was a Hanson CD?

http://radiolink.net/rey
rey@radiolink.net

This never actually happened to me...but one time my computer blew up and my
mom had to take it to Best Buy and the wallpaper that I had set was from NBP
(the one with the miniture instruments)....anyway...the guy booted up the
computer, looked at my mom and said..Do you have a daughter? My mom said,
yeah, why? Then the guy said, So is she obsessed with Hanson? My mom gave
him this really weird look and she said, NO, why? Then the guy said, Well
that's their picture isn't it? Mom looked at him and said, I'll tell her
you didn't say that.

I couldn't believe it when mom told me that, I couldn't believe it. Grown
men with experience compared to pre-pubescent squeekers. Geeze.....

i know a great deal of you listened to sessions this past weekend, but i
first heard it from a friend, since my VCR screwed up. Actually i only
heard the first two songs, (war, and smoke). once again, their live
playing skills must be commended, especially with the vocals. Second,
what the hell was ben playing to make that organ-like sound in smoke. it
was cool and so was the stroking of the piano strings to get the other
effect. its a shame i couldn't hear the rest of it, but what i hear was
soothing to the ear-- it was also really neat since i've never actually
seen them play before, except in videos, which doesn't count.

Just a question.
Maybe I don't watch enough MTV, but where and when do all of you see videos
other than Brick? Do they play them in the wee hours of the morning or
something? Brick is the only video I've seen, plus half of OAD. I'd
appreciate it if someone would let me know if there's a certain time block
when MTV or VH1 plays videos that are out of heavy circulation.

tommy

will everyone be doing this? i just wanna know. i really think that if
all the armchairites voted, theres a possibility that the video will be
on the show.
however, i was wondering if it should be the uncle walter video or the
SFTD video cuz many ppl have missed the SFTD video the nite it premiered
on 120 minutes. this would be a good opportunity for those who missed the
video to catch it again.
what will it be?
and dont forget: wednesday 5/27 -- email or call in

Only 1 other band I know of...
Actually, at the end of the new NOFX cd, there's a clip of Howard Stern making fun of
the band.

ok i was flipping through New York Times Magazine today(5/23)
and i noticed an article with Naked Baby Photos and some mavericks cd
pictures on the top of the page. i figured that somewhere in this article
there
would be something about bff so as i skim through i finally see them mentioned
and
here is what rob hoerburger had to say about them(the article is about how the
adult crowd, the 30's,who are being gipped from the music world. they are
geting no attention and these are some of the bands that they listen to and
like)

Ben Folds Five, who with their angst-free hooks and harmonic splashes have
reclaimed the piano asa driving force in pop. Thanks to heavy touring, the
groups year old album,"whatever and ever amen", finally 'went gold' but they
shouldnt have had to work as hard as they did for it. And they wouldnt have
had to if more radio programmers recognized the intelligence of the adult
audience.

If Betsy is here, I e-mailed you about the SFTD video and I accidently erased
all my mail, so if you responded, could you please e-mail me again. If you
haven't e-mailed me yet, then, well, i will keep hoping that you will.

Does anyone know who is opening for BFF in Grand Rapids MI? At the Superdrag
