ITSELF! If you are having trouble, send mail to

your old address, then subscribe using your new account.

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR {SUMMER | EVER}!!
If the above statement applies to you, be sure to unsubscribe from
the Armchair if you will not have access to your e-mail account over the
summer. Otherwise, your mailbox will fill up and the system administrator
at your school will be one angry dwarf...
Accordingly, very soon I will begin purging the mailing list of any
address that bounces for any reason (e.g., too many hops, mailbox full,
no route to host), not just 'user unknown'. If you find yourself
unsubscribed, this is probably the reason.

THANKS A THOUSAND
With the passage of 1,000 issues of the Armchair I'd like to thank
everyone for their contributions to the success of the list. We have a great
group of fans and the band is very appreciative of your support.

Hey man, no apologies necessary! I apologize myself for getting upset
at certain posts.

I didn't have the impression that you're a wuss at BF5 concerts at all.
My argument stems from some people that I know. They go to concerts,
see (and hear) people having fun, acting like fools (which is ok), find
these people annoying, and then spend their night focusing on them.
When they leave, all they can recall is these `obnoxious people.' It
ruins the experience for them. As the saying goes: be young, have fun.
And you do have a valid point in that some people get too carried away.
I do my best to ignore.

You got me there...our posts should be a lesson in English! Guesss Ill
have to kep my I on the ol' speel chicker a lille closer.

Later,
Rusty

I was at a friends house and he was playing WAEA and at the very end of Brick
there was some talking that wasn't on my CD. That was the only different thing
about our CD's, but neither of our CD's have the hidden track so just how many
versions of WAEA are there???

Hola folks!

I was just wondering if anybody had piano music for philosophy or
emaline, or if someone had converted either to guitar. Anything you have
[actual notes or just a basic chord progression, or whatever else] would
be great - thanks!

playing at the HORDE festival. Please e-mail me privately if you know.

hi!
Oops, sorry Sara! I said "the Ben Folds Five".. I apoliogize, dear!
Anyway! Just was posting to say that my little sister is getting into
Ben Folds Five now. No, she is not a Brickhead, although she is 13, and
too young to grasp the meaning of music.. yeah, right.. Hear my sarcasm?
She really likes Evaporated and "The chicken song" Fair, and Song for
the Dumped.
And I wanted to ask if anyone noticed that their Ben Folds Five cd's
seem to scratch easier than other cd's. WaEA skips at some points, but I
don't treat it any different than my other cd's (and none of my other
cds skip), so I was wondering. And for the record, Self Titled and Naked
Baby Photos are scratched, but not to the point of skipping. But WaEA is
the oldest of the 3..
Anyway, this was a pretty lame post.

I think you guys are just keeping this thread alive because you like typing
"P.O.'ed." Truth be told, though, it's P-ing me O, and I think it's P.'ing a
lot of other Armchairites O., as well. I don't like to P.O.'ed, but I'm only
human, so when I'm P.'ed, I'm usually O.'ed as well. And that's bad, because
BF5 is not about P.'s or O.'s at all. It's about B's, F's, 5's, and obsessed
people who apparently look down their P.O.'ed noses at people who have fun at
BF5 concerts.

Uptight elitists observe to be P.O.'ed. Did anyone else notice that SOMEBODY
used the "P" word?

P.O.'ed-ly yours,

Subject: ugh..... Silverchair......

Hey Chairers
By this I mean ARMchairers, not SILVERchairers, but I guess that basically
brings me to my point. (Be warned, there is practically no BFF content in
this) I'm seriously wondering, after a few comments I've read on the
armchair of late, about people's general opinion on these young lads from
down south.
personally, I find them intollerable. Strange, you might think, for a
16-yr-old Australian girl, but honestly I cannot find them even barely
comparible to the likes of Ben Folds. I can't see how something as
talentless as over-distorted 3-chord progressions (if yr lucky) being
belted from guitars paid for by some record company to do their best to
copy the 'great' grunge bands of the past (don't tell me Daniel Johns isn't
trying to be Kurt Cobain, just LOOK at him dammit!) by a couple of kids who
REALLY look like they need a shower can be considered to be of a similar
musical standard (at least by the general record-buying concert-going
population) to bands like Ben Folds Five, REM, Crowded House, The Whitlams
and You Am I. Silverchair are NOT a good example of Australian music, and I
find it really sad that this is what people hear.
So I ask you this: Please, if you like silverchair, defend you're position
to me, I would love to know what you see in them.
If you don't, tell me why, it'll make me feel less alone in the world.
For anyone not in Australia, if you've got the time could you try to name
some of the Australian bands you've heard of & like, so I can have a bit of
a look in to what impressions we leave on the other side of the world.
Sorry about the long boring post, feel free to blow the hell out of me if
you wish

umm, no offense, but this is exactly why MP3 sites are being taken down
by the record companies. and should be, imho. why is it people have so
much trouble seeing that this is theft, pure and simple? it's not your
work! why are you (or someone else) allowed to steal it and post it, for
other people to steal?
sorry for the inflammatory language, but what else IS it, if not
stealing? do you have permission to post it on the internet? even implied
or tacit approval by the people who created it and/or paid for it to be
created?

if you recall a few weeks ago, MTV did a big promotional stunt where they did
an open casting call to select a new vj. one of the two guys it was narrowed
down to, David Holmes, called BF5's "Philosophy" the greatest song ever
written. sadly, he lost to Jesse Camp the crackhead. however, David Holmes
now has his own MTV show called I Spy of Eye Spy, i'm not sure which, and it
comes on weekdays at 2 pm and 7:30 pm.

Subject: My first Show...

Since I don't think any one else is going to put this on here I think I
will. I saw Ben Folds Five for the first time on the 23rd at
Chicagoland's Jamboree. I was floored. I expected a great show and I
was greeted with a phenomenal show.

Set list (In almost the correct order)

1. (I can only assume it was) Theme Frome Dr. Pyser (even though I have
never heard that song. He said it was in G. Is that Pyser?)

2. Battle of Who Could Care Less.

3. Selfless Cold and Composed

4. Philosophy--Stool toss and all

5. Fair

6. Steven's Last Night in Town--Done with the Melodica, an excellent
rendition

7. Brick!! (Surprise, Surprise)

8. Song For The Dumped. I liked the ending when Ben Scraped the
strings.

I think that was all of them. Ben played at 2:30 and no one (Not even
They Might Be Giants were as good as them.) I spent the rest of the day
with nothing on my ming but meeting the band. Of course I only had lawn
seats so after I SAW the band walk off stage their lat chord was still
coming through the speakers. I don't think Darren was wearing a shirt.
Ben was wearing a flannel and Robert was fully clothed as well. I now
can say that I need to see the band doing their own show. I am tall so
I will be able to see :-) I also would love to see the Squirrel Nut
Zippers (I am a HUGE fan) and that comment about the intensity of them
has piqued my interest.
