Subject: my two cents...

Hey all...
On the subject of best BFF harmony, I need to stick up for the "we can be
happy, we can be happy, we can be happy underground" part in Underground.
That part never really hit me until the first time I saw BFF live - when they
performed it, I distinctly remember turning to my brother and just saying,
"Wow." I mean, I was a fan before I ever saw them live, but that one segment
cemented my respect for them. But I'll give credit to Eddie Walker and
Philosophy and Missing the War. I think the fact there are so many options
speaks to how great our beloved band is.
On a slightly different note, my favorite BFF song "moment" is in Selfless,
Cold, and Composed, where it's just the piano and the orchestra (I was going
to refer to it as the piano solo, but if the orchestra is playing too, well,
that just doesn't make sense! I trust you guys know what section I mean). I
don't know if you can call that a harmony - the interplay between the piano
and the strings is so beautiful, even without the voices. It gives me shivers
every time I hear it, and Selfless... is the song I look to when I think about
what really, really made me a true-blue fan.
So I figure that's enough bentent. Now for some nontent -- I went to
Summer Sounds, which is a festival in Charlotte, yesterday and today. I have
to tell you, it was one of the best festivals I've ever been too, and well
worth the horrific sunburn I now have (SPF 15, where are you?). Spacehog,
Squirrel Nut Zippers, Jolene, Live, Isaac Hayes, Lou Ford...wow! It was nice
to see so much local and international talent - and some bands being both!
The best part was that the crowd was so respectful. I mean, besides some
mildly outrageous drunk people, everyone was really cool. This being the
"first annual" Summer Sounds and being so successful, I'm guessing they'll do
it again next year. Perhaps BFF will make an appearance...I'll keep my
fingers crossed.
Enough of my rambling...forgive me for the nontent, but hey, it's music-
related, so I'm hoping it'll be overlooked. ; )

Funny, I always had the impression that BFF fans liked TMBG, don't ask
me why, I'm a big They Might Be Giants fan from WAY back, growing up in
New York and all I guess. Pumpkins? Yeah, I like em, they were great
in concert. The other bands I couldn't say. Is this off topic? Wait,
BFF Rule!!! Ah, that's better.

Possibly, I never hear anything on the radio in NY either. Although
I'm positive I remember hearing Battle on the radio a few times before
Brick hit.

Hey, kids!

I don't think there will be another single since the boys are headed back to
the studio in October. Maybe another UK single since they're headed to Europe
(aren't they?) pretty soon, but I really don't expect another single until the
new CD comes out. Anyone got any thoughts?

Here we go again. You know, everyone's entitled to an opinion, but come on,
haven't we been over this? Fans are fans, alright? If you're a Rockford Files
prick, you're still a fan, just like I'm a fan. I bought S/T in 95, but that
doesn't mean I'm a better fan than anyone else.

> Brick isn't what bff is all about.

No one but Ben, Darren and Robert have any right to say what BF5 is or isn't
about (or is that a naive idea for me to have?).

Why is everyone continually dissing the Fugees? They kick ass, and I don't
usually dig that kind of music. But as I said, they kick ass! Am I just
completely lame and am missing out on the joke?

OK, well, I had to get all that out in one post. Hope no one's put out with me
(except little Timmy). And I mean it about the Fugees.

They wrote the damn thing, I would think it is a BFF type of song. I
mean I would hope all their songs didn't sound exactly the same. This
isn't Third Eye Blind were talking about.>

Whoa, whoa, whoa, have you listened to the whole 3rd Eye Blind cd? It's
amazing how people pass judgement on them without even really listening.
Granted they've been really mainstream, beyond the Brick point even, but
they just might be one of the best new bands out there now. As far as
I'm concerned anyway. Just my pair of cents on 3rd Eye Blind, coming
from a guy who doesn't like much outside of bands that nobody's ever
heard of. I like those guys though, and bf5 for that matter. Ben Folds
Five has dealt with their popularity by keeping low, and 3rd Eye Blind
dealt with it by pushing it.

S'all for now,
Dustin

and i dont know what the deal is with everyones fav being missing the

"I wish it was last September When we could lose ourselves in crowds

from Emaline For stupid reasons". and also "Go ahead and laugh all you

i would ahve to strongly disagree with that. if you heard brick and it caused
you to go buy WEAEA and you enjoy the entire album, how can you say your not a
fan? its completely irelevent which song you hear first. Now, if you heard
brick and only brick, i would agree, but not if you love all their songs.
Also, who are you to say if someone is in love with a band or not. and you do
sound rude, by the way.

<< I bought whatever and ever amen long before brick ever came
on the radio, and I grew tired of brick in a couple days.>>

I ahve yet to grow tired of that song..like ive said bfore, maybe its becuase
ive never heard it on the radio, but i like to think that its because it is a
beautiful song.
<<I loved song for the dumped, one angry dwarf, kate, and all the other songs
so
much that i bought thier first album and fell in love with all their
 songs (except the last polka).>>

um, hello? the last polka is only one of the greatest songs ever written...
ever. are you insane. have you gone berzerk....atleast this explains the
rest of your ramblings.

<<and robert doesn't use his stand up bass in any other
 song>>

oh yes he does. and even if he didnt...being versatile is a good thing, i
think.

<<It's just a sappy little girl song that bff made up
so they could at least get some recognition>>

ok, this bothers me for many reasons...time for a list!
1. im a girl...nuff said.
2. your the one who sounds like your not really in love with them.
3. please dont insult our boys like that...you make them out to be jerks who
dont give a shit about anything but fame.
4. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
