Hello,
I was wondering if Ben Folds Five ever appeared on Mtv Live. Also I was
wondering what song they played when they did SNL cause i missed it the first
time cause i was at a party and I didnt set the vcr right so all i got was the
news..I figured they mostly likey played the ever popular "Brick" but I'm not
sure.
Thanks,

No, you're not. I've been holding my tongue through all the "Every BF5 fan is
a BNL fan" posts, but now that I see I have at least one ally, here I am. I
just don't think they're half as clever as they seem to think they are, and
that is a trait that bothers me.

For those of you who don't know already and are palnning to go, we're
meeting at 5pm, on Friday outside Luna Park(you know in the mouth).
We're going to have a picnic or something like that so either bring
money or some food and we'll do something. We're hoping to sneak
into the sound check.
Hope to see you there

How did we do with Total Request? I emailed them a lot but I lost count
of how many times. I watched like the first 5 minutes of the show. I
think there is this rule that you have to email between 12:30pm-1:30pm
EST for it to be on the show that day, so if it didn't get on there
today It might tomorrow. muffyhead98@hotmail.com or

Well...Yeah....I DO have it....Though....I'm not sure why. It sucked. I
mentioned to ben last week that it aired and he was TERRIFIED. He had NO
idea....And for those of you who were wondering why he was playing that
digital piano type thing....

He BEGGED for any piano but that one....That's what they gave him.

I thought Riley was Ben's wife. I heard that they were married and I
have heard that they were boyfriend and girlfriend. Which one is
correct?
USELESS BF5 INFO: I downloaded this mp3 file of Rain Drops Keep Falling
on my Head that BF5 played at the Burt Bacharach special. And I just
want to say that song is addictive. I simply cannot stop listening to
it. It is so crazy! I love that song! It is my whole life philosophy.
Okay now that I have filled you with mindless babble I will go now.

Ok, don't know if this has been organised, but anyone going to the
Sydney Monday show want to meet for a drink or two?

To save emails going back and forth on the armchair, I will be at the
bar (there's bound to be a bar) at about 7:30.... actually, email me if
you're going as the bar will prob. be pretty crowded.... and I think
there's two bars too.

If this helps I will be the short eurasian girl, with short dark hair...

Quickly because I want to get some sleep tonight:

1. BNL suck. Stick to BFF topics or shut up.
2. We need to re-try the Total Request thing. I wrote out 100 e-mails but
they didn't send because I was told to send them between 7:30 and 8:30.
3. Has anyone tried to call 1-888-BENFOLDS5 to purchase merchandise? I've
called from Boston a few times and all I get is some screw-ball answering
machine. Help.

Thanks, Paul

Subject: SFTD video on Recovery + nasty review

first: ben's interview in jjj may well have been live, because I forgot
about the time difference between perth and Brisbane (2 hrs) - thanks,
mike.

2nd: It was great hearing about the perth concert (can't wait til next
thursday...)

3rd: THE VIDEO CLIP FOR SFTD will be on RECOVERY on saturday!!!!!! so
says the recovery webpage. Prime those video recorders people!

4th: maybe I'm really behind here (happens a lot), but has anyone else
seen the NME review of a bff concert in England somewhere (sorry!)in
their july 12 issue?
Cause I read it today (it takes a while to get to Oz etc) and while I
have no problem with constructive criticism, this reviewer was just
plain biased and nasty.
S/he described BFF as tiresome, and although s/he said bff gave a fun
show (prefaced with lots of sarcasm, tho), it was clear the reviewer
just didn't like bff songs and let this get in the way of their review
(which SHOULD be objective) S/he didn't mention whether the crowd
enjoyed the show. But reading between the lines, it sounds like bff were
having a good time there and really working hard to give the audience a
good time too.
It didn't make me angry to read it or anything, in fact it made me
laugh, because the reviewer was just so over-the-top biased.

Read it if you want a huge contrast to the raves that bff normally get.

I just wanted to reply to megan's praise of the buzz a few issues ago. As
a fellow richmonder and occasional listener of the buzz, the buzz does play
an extraordinarily large amount of BFF, but those songs are surrounded by
hour upon hour of the same Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, etc..

I felt I should point this out because....well, because it is 2:10 in the
morning, and I happen to have personal knowledge of a topic for once.

OK, Well, I don't know if you've heard of time zones before, but I think
I should explain it to you anyway. Over here in Perth, our time is 2
hours behind yours, so when it is 9 pm over there, it's 7 pm over here.
You getting it so far? (Sorry, I shouldn't be so mean to
Queenslanders...don't worry, I understand...) Ben Folds' interview was
actually at around 9:10 pm there, which is 7:10 pm here, so therefore,
was after the soundcheck, as the concert wouldn't have started yet.
Okay? One other thing, when people say that something is between two
times, it usually goes forward, so it would have been between 9 and 10
pm.

Nice to hear about the Perth concert...read about it in the newspaper
this morning, but because I'm under 18, couldn't see it for
myself...again. Got to hear all about my brother and sister's
conversation with Doug after the concert the last time they came
though....cool.

Danielle

Subject: brisbane fans listen up

this is general info for brisbane MAer's:

the Brisbane armchair fans are having two meets before the bff festival
hall show, because some MAer's are in school or working and can't get to
the first one.

the first meet is between 2.30/3pm at festival hall itself, on or near
the wooden chairs on the stage door side of the hall.

the second meet is at 5.30pmish at festival hall, on or near the steps
on the ticket office side of the hall.

it'd be nice if those who come to the first meet stay/return for the 2nd
one (which several of us seem to be doing :) )

if you haven't contactd me already and want more info, please do so,
otherwise you're welcome to just turn up

to those who have contacted me, (craig, dan, vicki, paul, matt, mel,
crystal, anna and julia) thank you all for your help/suggestions/good
humour, hopefully this will work. Keep in touch. We'll see each other on
Thursday. (6 days!!!!!!)

did they play OAD, but they played it first....during the second musical act
they played Brick...so my question is, does anyone really know why they
couldnt play OAD on snl?

aaron>>

They had to cut it out because SNL's skits ran long. So instead of quality
music we got 5 extra minutes of struggling comedy acts.

<<Well, I only heard a few parts of the song through an mp3 file and i still
dont know why it's labeled as a "ska remix". It's just got some strings in
it. It's Kate with the instruments used in Smoke, thats all. Im writing this
because i thought there might just be a REAL ska mix of Kate. That would be
tres-neat.>>

Ummm....I'm thinkin they did that to make fun of the whole ska thing. They
didn't really mean it as a ska remix.

Hey, all you BFF fans!

I just bought the newest BFF CD, Naked Baby Photos. It's pretty cool.
I like Philosophy and Bad Idea the best. Anyway, that really sucked
that I missed the Conan performance. I didn't find out about it until
the next day. Another interesting thing is that there are a lot of
Australian fans out there. I thought that was cool.
