Subject: E-Bay and Tori Amos

Recently it's come to my attention that one can find some Ben Folds Five
memorabilia, CDs, etc. on E-Bay <http://www.ebay.com>. I checked out the
site today and found about a dozen BFF items for SALE, through bidding. I
find it irritating to see promo CDs, singles, and posters on sale for prices
well over the original amount. A few days ago I saw a CD-R composed of
B-sides and live tracks (all available over the internet, many from Chad
Sarles' page. By the way, Chad is GOD. He is the man.) which was bid on at
over $60. Insane. The thing that really bothers me is that I see members
of our own Armchair offering these items for SALE. Do you realize that this
is WRONG? Well, I think it's wrong anyway. If we all started selling these
things, we could lose our right to tape shows and more. Keep that in mind.
What would it be like with no new bootlegs?

Sorry for the unrelated content here, but I have to share this. I went to
see Tori Amos at Madison Square Garden tonight--what an unbelievable show!!
In the past, I couldn't really understand how Ben Folds felt he wasn't as
good a pianist as she is, but now I know. She can lay down the chops and
show everybody what's up, but when she wants to, she can play with more
emotion than I've ever heard come out of 88 keys. She is just an
unbelievable overall performer. And it's cool to see another artist with
such an internet following, like our own Ben Folds Five. The only
difference is that Tori can actually use a computer (sorry, Ben.)

Waiting for Ben to try out a Bösendorfer,

Leigh 13

I was just checking out Amazon.com's new music store and checked out
BFF. They have a small amout of stuff, but they are decent prices.
For those of you who want the S/T + bonus track from Japan but it was
too expensive it's only $23. That's pretty good, at CdNOW it's bout
$33. Anyway have a look for yourselves, those of you trying to find
singles may find what they're looking for. They have the vinyl WAEA
at CDnow.
Just thought I'd let you know, no I don't work at either!! :-)

Hullo Armchair!
- -Seen on MTV Europe-a video for a stoopid rap retread of Kung Fu
Fighting, with a goofy white homeboy with a scary tatoo over his eye
doing the rapping. The bands name? Bus Stop.
- -Fanclub? Bravo! Bravo! Helluva idea! Sign me up!
- -Music is the universal language-proof-me and my two adorable Swedish
speaking neices had fun on a long car ride, playing my BFF tape and
playing air drums, air piano and bass! That was how we communicated!! I
also got my two nieces into the beastie boys (better than Aqua!) while on
the trip to Sweden.
- -The beastie boys at the Worcester Centrum....fuck! I want to go!
- -MTV Europe kicks ass!!!!! The VJs are adorable, all of them with cute
foriegn accents, and the best part is that videos are played ALL DAY!!!
Although there is an overload of generic boy bands/girl bands (thank you
Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys) they play lots of really good videos,
ex. "Flavor" byThe Jon Spencer Blues Explosion!!! That video has beck in
a chefs hat, with plastic toys, pratically attacking a man on the subway
going "cos I got the taste!" "Yeah I got the taste" "Yeah!" I giggled so
happily watching that.

That's awesome!!!!!! The best thing I've heard since the ttws
breakup...being a huge fan of both toad (check the screen name) and bff, I
would love to see something like this happen :) I was also glad to see there
are other toad fans on the list...

>I think Paul asked one of them or something and Robert asked Ben if they

Yeah... just to confirm.. (and gloat again) when i was in their dressing
room... just having a chat to my mate ben... he said that robert started to
play a bit of a song they were playing/making up in the soundcheck...
anyway.. the conersation was them deciding if they should play it... and
they decided to play it at the end of the set (but never did :( ) oh well

also.. that sydney set list seems to be exactly the same as the melbourne
one.. except that in the encore.. they played evaporated instead of boxing
(ben said they dont usually play evaporated, but cos we called out for
it... he decided to play it) also.. Air and Video were on the set list..
but he said when he got up to them, he just didnt feel like playing them..
so yeah, there ya go.. :)

bye,

Yeah, I completely forgot Ben was in the Squirrel Nut Zippers video. . .Then
all of a sudden he pops up on the screen, and I at first thought it was a new
Ben Folds Five video that I somehow didn't know about! :) Then I remembered.

This message, the farther along into it I get, seems kind of pointless. Sorry
about that...

Anyway, if you're the person who sent me that tape, and are waiting for yours,
like I said before, please e-mail me so I can get your address. I think
you're from Connecticut. . .

Yeah, I know a few of you on this list are also on the Toad list, because one
of you brought it to my attention that there was a Toad list. Anyway,
although I was saddened to hear of the breakup, I would really love to see Ben
and Glen (hey, it rhymes) doing something together. Ooh. I also heard Glen
is doing a solo album, expected in '99.

I haven't heard *any* BF5 on the radio stations here in Philly. You know
what's cool though? When you walk into a store and they have a BF5 song
playing on their store tape. It always makes me like the store more. :)

I heard someone from AOL was picked for FANatic, but I don't know who it is.
I didn't know that MTV was following through with that, but ok.

Hi! I'm a brand new armchair sitter or whatever (and ever, amen). My
name's Greg. I'm from Indpls. I went to the Ben Folds Five show where
they opened up for Foo Fighters, both of whom kick tremendous ass. Ben
was pretty crazy what with pounding keys with his stool and swinging his
mic around while standing on his piano. I was dancing around like a nut.
Very high energy. Foo Fighters was good too. Dave kept burping into
the mic.

why? Or if the number was changed? I want to check status on an order I

Bonjour, my armchair friends!!!

I need your help. You see, I was at the mall here in town helping my
friend find NBP. The trouble is, she wants to find a cassette of it.
She doesn't have CD equipment yet. Anyway, the lady at the music store
said that they only do NBP in the CD. So she was really upset. So we
were wondering if any of you armchairites might be able to help. We
would really appreciate it.

Merci mille fois,
