haha...people. I've tried to explain this before, but if any of you
who are complaining about 'making fun of the younger fans' would read an
ENTIRE post, instead of just one line, you might know what's going on.
Way back when this was about people who make posts that have no point, I
compared the things they said to something that a 14 year old (read: a
new fan, who knows nothing about the band) might say. Fourteen year old.,
in this case, meaning sophomoric. Not, literally, everyone who is 14.
The post I was complaining about went on for like 2 paragraphs about how
WAEA was the best....something that everyone on the armchair knows. Why
was that post necessary? It takes up space and wastes everyone's time.
Everyone's posting at me and mailing me privately saying "not all 14
year olds are brickheads...you're evil, because you insulted everyone
who's 14." Well, if you want to get off by trying to yell at me and look
'cool' for the other computer people that you don't know and probably
will never meet, okay, but I never fucking said any of that.

Hey ~ I've been on this list for about 7 months now, but I haven't posted much
at all... I'm not usually one to sit back and just read and watch, but I have
been with this list more or less...
Anyways.. I am going to be a senior in HS and I need a senior quote.. ahhhH!!!
I can't decide on what to use, but something from BFF would be awesome... i
really don't want a typical and i think kinda cheezy, "friends will always be
in my heart and i love you all" or a "follow your dreams and you will really
live" or a "highschool has been the best time of my life" type quote..
Any suggestions? THANKS!

(or if you have any other suggestions, not necessarily bff related- email me)

<I'm going to be on vacation in late August. I'll be passing through Detroit,
Chicago, Buffalo, Toronto, and Cleveland. Anybody got any recommendations for
music stores with BFF singles, rarities, bootlegs, etc.?

~Kathryn>

I live in Metro-Detroit, and a couple places in the area have a pretty good
selection of BF5 singles and rarities. I found some stuff at Off the Record
in Royal Oak. Another place to check is Harmony House on Woodward Ave. in
Berkley.

Hope this helped you out a little.
Peace,

I was wondering if Sessions at West 54th with BF5 on it that was on last
night was a rerun or a new episode.

Hey Armchairers...

Caught the boys on Pop-Up Video on 8-1. Am I wrong or did I catch at least
two mistakes.

1. Darren's last name spelled with only on 'e'

2. It mentioned that their first song was recorded while Robert was on a
break from flipping hamburgers.

Am wrong or right here? Let me know

Also I will be leaving for college in a few weeks. If anyone on the list is
headed to St. Mary's or Notre Dame please e-mail me privately.

- -- OK, someone was saying something about this in the last digest. I think.
At 4AM on Friday night, I just happened to be flipping stations on the radio,
and Philosophy was on! I had to kind of listen for a second because I wasn't
sure if I was, you know, hearing correctly. Come on, it WAS 4 in the morning.
So I jumped up and whipped out a blank tape and recorded everything that came
on after that. So I didn't get the whole thing, and I'm not sure how much I
missed. I guess it was the ground zero thing on 88.5 philly, but I really
have no idea. So anyone mind telling me what I recorded?

- -- I was telling my friend about how Toad broke up; she doesn't like them, but
she knows I do. And I tell anyone who I think might possibly care. Anyway, I
told her how Glen might do something with Ben Folds, and she said that BF5
were annoying! I was like, what the hell are you talking about? I asked her
if she'd heard anything besides "Brick" and she said no. OK, they played
Brick * a lot * and I don't need to tell any of you that, but I still don't
get sick of it. That's when you know it's a good song, because no matter how
many times radio decides to force-feed you a song, it's still good. So I went
upstairs, stuck in self-titled. I put on Philosophy, and held the phone up to
the speaker for three minutes....Same thing with Underground, and then on W&EA
with One Angry Dwarf. And she liked it! She liked Philosophy the most. I
was feeling pretty damn good that I had converted my friend who was somewhat
ignorant to the entirety of BF5 music, in all its glory, into a semi-BF5 fan.
:) -- Hey, are you still reading? --

- -- Anyone go to see Athenaeum/Black Lab/Emmet Swimming in Philly last night?
If you haven't already, buy RADIANCE. I can't say enough about it. And I
know some Ath fans on this list can back me up on it. Sound clips @
Athenaeum

- -- Anyone see the Pop-Up Video of Brick last night? I was @ the
aforementioned show so I missed it. At least, I think it was last night. . .

Subject: BFF in Mad Magazine

I'm not sure how many of you armchairers have picked up the august edition of
Mad magaizine, but I have been an avid mad reader for years and i was suprised
to find that the guys have an entire page in mad magazine all to
themselves...It is a spoof of VH1's popup video..It's called Mad's Pop off
video, of course the song is Brick, here is a quick recap.

The first picure is the guys sitting around in the rom with cement walls, the
caption reads, :This is argably the single most dynamic stage performance by a
music group since disney world installed the animatronic Bear Jambree."

The second picture is of them sitting in the room with the very bright light
in the background the caption reads," Hey, so you noticed there are only THREE
guys in Ben Folds Five? Congratulations, eagle eye! Be Proud! All the greatest
geniuses got their start by sitting around on a futon watching MTV"

The thirdis the picture of an ariel view of the circular dead end street. the
caption reads, "In this ballad about a failed relationship, the director ends
the video with a metaphoric shot of a dead end street.....Apparently he
thought the image of a dead horse being whipped was "a bit too subtle" for the
average braindead MTV viewer."

The fourth is a pic of Robert withe the stand up. the caption, "Between Bens
piano and Roberts cello, BFF is officially the band most hated by hernia
fearing roadies."

the fifth is a pic of the band with the moon in the background, the caption,"
The first scene in video history to be filmed aboard the troubled mir space
station."

Overall, i think mad was very easy on the guys, u had to see how mean they
were in the same sort of article about usher, i think the writers are bff fans
bc they really werent mean at all, sure there was a loy of stupid things said,
calling roberts bass a cello instead and constantly refering to mtv when this
is on vh1, but i am really excited about the article and i was truly shocked
to see it....Any loyal BFF fan would run down to the convenience store and
pick up a copy of the august MAD, Its got lfred in a cave on the cover and the
boys are on page 28 if ur too cheap to buy it, if i figure out how to use my
scanner, i'll scan the thing, email me if ud like to see it, or go buy it like
a normal human being.

Subject: Fluid Ounces

I just received the Fluid Ounces CD which I sent away for because a few of you
had commented that they were similar to BF5. (For those who are curious, it
is only $10 for the CD. Go to www.spongebath.com for info on where to send
your check.) I am curious to hear the opinions of others on the list who have
heard the disc. I've only listened to it once through so it's a little early
to pass judgement on it, but after the first listen I would say it is "OK".
The singer also plays the piano - and there is quite a bit of piano in all of
the songs, AND they would be classified as pop just as BF5 would, but that is
about where the similarities end. Perhaps that's all everyone meant. The
songs, on the other hand, although they do have a bit of playfulness to them
as many BF5 songs do, they do not really remind me of anything that would have
come off of a BF5 CD. Maybe it was just the prominances of the guitar that
makes me think that. Any other opinions??? Just curious.
