WARNING ON OFF-TOPIC MESSAGES
I hate to have to be list-mom again, but consider this a warning that
those who post off-topic messages may be removed from the Armchair. I
consider much of the recent discussion on racial matters to be off-topic,
particularly the personal insults, and the discussion is largely
inappropriate. Like your mom, my judgment may appear to be arbitrary but
in order to keep an all-out fight from breaking out, some of you are going
to have to go to your room.

Hard Rock lie was cool, of course we all would have liked to see more, but at
least we got to see them :) I was thrilled when they played "Emaline."
They're so cool, I was watching HRL and just laughing out loud, which no other
band can make me do :)
at the end when ben threw his stool it kinda came back at him. I was
wondering, has he ever actually hurt himself by doing this?! I have never
seen them in concert ( so quit your complaining those of you that have! just
kidding;)) so I wouldn't know.
I was laughing about ben saying how he thought about his taxes while they were
playing a slow song, that he thinks was brick, and he started crying...haha,
if he actually was crying people probably thought "awww, theres a soft,
sensitive guy" when hes thinking about his taxes, haha!

I think we all should read the lyrics of Imagine by John Lennon-- this
race thing has got to stop.

Now look, everything that ever happens when you put race on race in a
negative way is the result of ignorance period. People (not blacks
not whites, PEOPLE) have different musical tastes. Maybe I don't like
Smashing Pumpkins, a lot of my friends do, but I don't. They won't
alienate me because of that.

Look people are saying things about something that should be a mute
point. It bothers some, and offends many. So, please let's stop
before we've got the Rebel Armchairers and the Yankee Armchairers.
Call me Abraham Lincoln, but I think we should call this post the end
of all the posts about racial stuff and let the world "live as one."

Erik

to clear up a misinterpretation:
i did not say (or mean in any way) that the people who see heaps of BFF
concerts are better or the best fans. (Hell no!!)

perhaps there should be an amendment made to the armchair constitution
that 'all fans are equal'.

(that was a joke, btw, a joke!)(some of you people scare me)

the 'whose seen the most shows' thing was just for fun (and simple
curiousity), and more than a couple people reckon Sandi Shortcake would
hands-down top the pile.

mikell, I've always liked your posts, but that last one was great fun.

and finally...
I still think the armchair is a great piece of furniture!

The Hempilation I'm aware of was put out by Capricorn Records in about 1995
with a bunch of artists, some doing original material and others doing covers
that basically has pro-marijuana lyrics. Proceeds from the purchasing of tape
or album or cd went to NORML, which is a pro-hemp organization. As far as I
can see on my liner notes, Ben Folds Five was not on the list of bands. It's
still a pretty neat cd. Watched VH1's lil Hard Rock Live there..three songs!!!
They were robbed!! Oh well, I still got to hear Emaline live :)

I missed #1164, so maybe this was mentioned. I was watching MTV today
and they were doing that "Drive Across America" or whatever it is they
do in the morning and they said they were in Chapel Hill. The host,
some male VJ with an accent, said he asked the bartender about the
local music scene and he named off a long list of bands, but NOT
BFF!!! He was probably just talking about the new bands or something,
but MTV's supposed continue with shows from Chapel Hill through the
weekend. Thought you'd like to know.

Stay Civil,
Mark

P.S. Chuck, EXCELLENT post!!!

Oh boy. Almost forgot to post about Hard Rock Live before I went to bed!
I'll keep it quick.

It was short, but we knew it would be. When Brick started, the crowd
erupted just like Ben told us to. Then you can see Robert "conduct" us to
get quiet with his bass bow--watch it again and see. Emaline was
awesome--the best I've ever seen. Since it's supposed to be on the new
album, maybe it will finally be the single it so desperately deserves to be!

And, if you're ever at a taping for something that's going to be on
television, no matter how cool you think you look dancing to Song For The
Dumped in your seat, you'll look dorky on TV. Not that I know from
experience or anything...

Did anyone see Snout on Recovery talking about BFF?

At this point I was reading my armchairs and in shock about this:

<<Wow, Bette Midler's going to cover "Boxing" for an album to be released
on
Sept. 15 called "Bathhouse Betty".>>

haha I guess this means alot of us will be buying her album..my god, she
was on seinfeld too...how damn cool! (personally, I hate to imagine the
song...)

<<Suprise when they started talking
about a "Hempilation" or something like that. (I was only half listening)
But
anyway, they mentioned that BFF was also on the CD.>>

My friend has this album, cos 311 is on it...and I'm dead sure BFF isn't on
it..I think that's hempilation anyway...if that's the album I'm thinking
of, its an album with songs about pot on it...unless I'm all
confused...(311 have the song "who's got the herb" on it) But I could be
wrong..

Hello there-
I have been searching high and low for a BFF poster to stick up in my room...
I looked and asked in every music store around me. I was also just in Virgina
and I asked there as well. Is there no such thing as a BFF poster? There has
GOT to be!
If anyone has any info or where to get one, please please with sugar on top
tell me :)

Subject: The Frogs / Mightyhead

I would like to HIGHLY recommend to any of you who like BF5 to give a band
called "Mightyhead" a try. They are from Lancaster, PA - about a hour
northwest of Philadelphia. They were originally called "The Frogs" and
released a 6-song cassette as the Frogs and then a full length CD called "Yeah
Yeah Yeah" before changing their name to "Mightyhead" because there was
another band (Heavy Metal) that was gaining some speed as "The Frogs". And
since the other band was formed first they decided to change their name to
avoid the confusion. At any rate, since changing to "Mightyhead" they have
released another full length CD called "Hey Balloon". I think you all would
enjoy them. For more information on how to buy the CD's - check out
www.mightyhead.com. "Yeah Yeah Yeah" is only $10, and "Hey Balloon" is only
$13, so go buy them! I personally like "Yeah Yeah Yeah" better and think more
of the songs remind me of songs that a BF5 fan would like, but "Hey Balloon"
is definitely more polished and mainstream so I would think many of you might
like "Hey Balloon" better. Let me know if any of you decide to buy the CD's!

Your Pal
Chris Mal
