Hey yo... I live in AZ. Tucson, actually. I don't know about Phoenix, but
Tucson loves the boys. The station here KFMA http://www.kfma.com loves BFF
and plays their stuff a lot. Brick even got as far as being overplayed!
But I heard Underground on the radio oh those many years ago and thus fell
in love with BFF. BFF also has played a number of shows here in Tucson,
and even filmed the video for Underground here in Tucson! No joke! They
played Phoenix at least 3 times within a few months of each other last
year... they do tend to pass through a lot. As far as buying stuff... it
is sooo easy for me to find stuff to buy here. imports, singles, all the
cds, etc. I can't find shirts or posters very easily. Actually, my
favorite music store is a local chain (phoenix and tucson area) called Zia,
and the manager actually has lots of demos of Mojosha (Ben's band before
BFF), and anyway, lots of big BFF fans here, even before Brick hit the
airwaves. AZ is an awesome place if you love BFF.

>alls I gots ta say...

I dont' know their tour dates, but if they do tour, they haven't left out
AZ yet, and I don't think they will.

I will go back to my lurking now... but 1st, I'll say hi to all the cool
people I met at the Conan O Brian show. You all know who you are! *wave*

for any of you aussies who are waiting for SFTD to be released...

I checked with the guy in the know at Record Market in Brisbane, and he
checked the national lsiting for release dates and STFD wasn't listed
yet (dang!), he reckoned it was because Brick is still doing well, so
they're delaying the release, but that was only his opinion, btw.
Anyway, he said he can tell me on Monday (when the next group of release
listing comes out) whether SFTD will be released next week.

This waiting sucks. I'm sure I'm in withdrawl here.

ah well

I thought I was the only one who couldn't find Ben Folds Five stuff.
(posters, singles, etc.) I live in a small town in Arkansas and it is
impossible to find that stuff.. I guess BFF is still not that big in the
US. Sometimes I get so mad at people who are like, "If it ain't Puff
Daddy or Metallica it ain't music." That is bullshit. Well I could
talk about this all night but I won't.

P.S. Why is Emaline such a good song? It's like magic.

Yes, it is played in the movie, but a different version. It plays the first
verse of that version, which goes!

Pull over the car
Pull over the car
I think I see a little old spinster
Pull over the car
Pull over the car
My dad wants to break up with your sister

If you want to hear that version, you have to buy the soundtrack, which is
what I did after I saw the movie!

Hey hey everyone-
I've decided to cast my vote on the whole Tom & Mary/Lady Madonna thing:

<< Here's another resemblance that I picked up on...listen to the melody in
sublime's "what i got" and the "lady madonna" melody. they're exactly the
same. i can see the tom & mary resemblance too, but this is uncanny...anyone
 agree? >>
- -- I couldn't agree more. In fact...the very first time I heard "What I Got"
I said, "Dammit, they ripped off Lady Madonna! Bastards!" It is just too too
much of a resemblance to be coincidental.
- -- As for the Tom & Mary resemblance: Yes, I do believe it's there - but
more subtle. (As opposed to "What I Got") Ahh yes...once again the Beatles
prove to be an influence for everyone.

hey all,

i noticed all this talk about posters and i've decided to offer one of my
bff WAEA promotional posters for trade. it's 1m x 0.7m and has a lovely big
picture of the boys. it's not in perfect condition, but pretty dang
excellent for a promo poster that i got off the walls. the people were
careful taking out the staples and i've kept it nice and safe under my
mattress for the past few months. i don't know what i want in return, but
preferably stuff i can't buy in the shops like tv appearances, video
footage etc.. (americans are welcome to put in an offer too as my vcr plays
NTSC format).

so basically, i'll just trade it with whoever gives me an offer i like.

yea. i noticed that 3 years ago when Sublime's s/t first came out. :) Either
Brad was a Beatles fan, or he just picked up some sheet music of theirs..
because that's the same exact song. It's like Blink182 and the Vacant Andys.
Haha. Stupid fuckin' Blink182.. Vacant Andys better get some money out of

Anyway, as for Tom and Mary.. hmm.. no, i don't see it.. but maybe it's there.

Salutations,

Mr1Intl (Caroline) told us all:

"What is this all about? I didn't start loving Ben Folds Five because of
their
looks or clothes and that really wouldn't affect my opinion of them
anyway."

I don't think (and I hope) any of us did either - its just some of the
listees enjoy studying what the three boys are wearing - dammit, strange as
it may seem, some of the ladies out there find them attractive, and are
just expressing an opinion. Personally, I couldn't care what Ben, Rob and
Darren wear, but I find it interesting to know. It's just an extra part of
the experience. Believe me, you're lucky you're not on Tongue in the Mail
(Crowded House list). Here, people regularly discuss Neil Finn's haircut,
and send whole posts wished he'd go back to his Split Enz era cut. Whatever
pops your cork, I guess.

Erik Lyons questioned:

*where's that kewl, kick ass fan club?

good call. Whatever happened to those Likely Lads?

Em, that woman from the town with the funny name :) said:

"so what about the rest of the world. eh??
didn't think of that did you..? :)"

yeah! more power to us, dammit! I think it'll be on at about 5am. Nice :(
do you reckon that someone could transcribe it and offer it up to be
emailed to those who care? You'd make many people chuffed :)

Why is it these get longer and longer?

Luke.

Hey everyone! Does anyone know where you can find Ben Folds Five
merchandise in Colorado? And why is it that they have one extra song
each on their Japanese releases of WAEA and their self-titled albums??
That's makes no sense to me, unless they're really famous over there.
All I've seen here in Colorado is the three cds and the "Brick" single.
I would like to know if there are posters available. Please anyone who
knows reply back. Thanks.

Yup, it's in there alright. She's (Janene (sp?) that is) running around
frantically at the time it comes on. I haven't seen the movie in, like, say
10,000 years but I was excited when I heard it so I could be way off but it's
definetly there! Yeah!

I don't know if this has ever been mentioned but if it has, I appologize whole
heartedly. Ok, I went into a store recently (about 4 days ago or something)
and looked around for posters. I had previously bought some around the time
"Brick" was kinda big because that was the only time I had seen any of them
anywhere. So I went back to the stores I had seen them in before. To my luck,
no posters remained. Why am I posting this? Well, I asked one of the guys if
they could re-order them because that would be kinda simple and I could just
have some, right? Obviously not, it's not that easy. He said that each month,
the poster companies or something send them some form of paper I guess and the
stores just pick the ones they want or pick all of them like the store I went
into. He said that if a poster is not on the list, he can't order it. And he
also said that Ben Folds Five hasn't been on the list for a little while now.
So that might be why you can't for the life of you find any Ben Folds Five
posters laying around anywhere. I don't know what it's like in other parts of
the country but here on the Jersey Shore, that's the story. Anyway, I'm outta
here.
