Hey!
I was reading TIME magazine, and this was printed in the LETTERS section--
"Not all rap music is about violence. There are songs from artists like LL
Cool J or Method Man that talk about loving a girlfriend. You should stop
critisizing rap and look at the positives of it. There are other genres of
music that are gansta. On MTV I saw an alternative group sing, "Give me my
money back, you bitch." You tell me what kind of lyric is that??" Hmmmmm. Ben
Folds, gangsta??

Rey, thanks for responding to my Loudon Wainwright III reference. Just so you
know, Loudon's son Rufus has an album out now too. Remember the song, "Rufus
is a Tit Man?" Well, that's the Rufus we're talkin' bout here, only all grown
up and off the breast feeding now. Oh, and in another musical family
reference, Loudon is married to one of the Roche sisters (Terre, I think,
though I'm not sure), another fabulous group, I must say.

<<BENtent: People have been talking about the possibility of the next BFF
album
being recorded somewhere other than the house. What do you guys think are the
chances they'll record at the Hit Factory or one of the other big studio's in
Manhattan?

Well...According to Darren they WILL be recording in a studio. They MIGHT use
Caleb. They WON'T use Brendan O'Brien and they're looking at a place in
Nashville because "the floor is made out of marijuana". That's all I know. But
NO hit factory.

Hello Fellow Chairers:
I know, I know. It's been a long time since I've posted. But what can I
say? For once in my life I didn't have anything on my mind. Can you believe
it?!?!?!
Anywho....here's my little anecdote. Last week I was driving down Loop 12
South in DFW when the two DJ's on the radio just started screwing around and
talking about current events, just to get a good laugh. I must say that
Kramer and Twitch and hillarious and if anyone on the Armchair lives in the
Dallas area you should tune in to them on 102.9 in the evenings.
So to get back to what I was saying (sheesh, I ramble even when I type) I
listened carefully to the music that was playing in the background and holy
smokes!!! It was the introduction to the BF5 version of "She Don't Use Jelly"
being played over and over!!!!! I got so excited I blasted the stereo just o
hear the music!
Just thought I'd let you know.

We are all now gangster g vatos claiming BFF, so now we have to go out and
tag all the stores that sell BFF related goods. And we have to pull out our
nines and bust some caps whenever someone disses BFF. And we can go and get
hoopties and blast BFF with the bass really really loud, loud enough to set
off security alarms in buildings. Then BFF concerts will start to become big
riots as people from the Tori Amos and Barenaked Ladies gang come there to
start shit with us. So everyone remember that we are all going to go
perpetrate crimes onto other people because some guy said that BFF is gangsta.
Damn I feel smart.

Sincerely,
The gangster g vato playing the air piano, Tyler

I remember someone saying that they saw the video for BOWCCL on VH1 when it first
came out and there was also some sort of interview with BFF on VH1 awhile back
(!!!!).

That was the video for OAD they were showing with Air playing in the backround.

Yeah, the files get corrupted if you're using Netscape (they only download right
on the Internet Explorer browser for some reason), and there's a link to a program
you can download on that page that'll stop your downloads from getting cut off, I
think.

Crystal, everytime I go to your page, it's always blank, for some reason. =(

> Was this person from Time on crack?

I wouldn't doubt it. ;D If they think THAT version of SFTD is bad, then they
should listen to the demo version....hee hee.

Maybe I'm a kite..

Subject: BFF and Geoff Harvey Update...

Hey All!

I was perusing a local music magazine - Express (in Western Australia)
and I found an interesting snippit on the Ben Folds/Geoff Harvey
thingy....

Extracted from Express for your reading pleasure....
"Wake Up Geoff

Just thought you'd like to know. The infamous yer long feud between the
Ben Folds Five and Geoff Harvey, which erupted when Folds threw a stool
at the 'Midday Show' maestro's piano at the end of a live television
appearance, was apparently settled just vefore the band left the country
following its most recent Austrlain tour.

...although the trio and co. appeared on 'Hey Hey It's Saturday' wearing
'Geoff Harvey Appreciation Society' t-shirts, Folds invited Harvey over
to his Sydney hotel for a friendly drink. After accepting, Harvey had to
cancel the date when he was notified that his pregnant daughter had gone
into labour. Hey, it's the thought that counts."

There you have it...

And on another point - I was unable to lay my hands on a copy of 'Domo
Ben Chan Desu' while in Japan recently - and I still would really like a
copy. Anyone out there willing to send one over or know where to get one
from etc...?

Anyways - enough of my ramblings...
Adam from Oz

This is just an opinion and a tidbit of the band, since they've been
somewhat lacking as of late...

1) I think that Darren sings Mitchell lane better than Ben folds. It
just sounds better with him in lead, and the other 2 singing the
backgrounds. what do you guys think?

2) And a strange fact that I came over a few days ago. In the song For
All the Pretty People, Robert Sledge plays the piano and Ben plays bass.
I knew Ben could play drums, bass, and piano, but I never though that
Robert could play piano!

there's your daily required bentent for today

love one for my backpack. Please e-mail me if you know where I can
buy one or have one you would be willing to trade. Thanks.

After some fun fun discussion, a few of us have decided that we BFF fans
need to live up to our newly acquired gangsta status. Hence, our new gang
colors: maroon and yellow (like the beloved, subversive "kiss my ass"
shirts), our gang sign: the "whatever" sign, made with our hands during
that nutty song about smokin' pot and doin' nothin', and um...yeah, so far
that's about it. So everyone get ready for the east coast/west coast BFF
gang wars!

i'm not sure if this has been brought up before or not - but i was just
wondering. does anyone know what the patterns in the background of the first
and second albums come from? like if they're from ben's shirts or something?
cause i have always thought that they just picked the cheapest t-shirt on sale
at their nearest garage sale. someone know the real story behind it - where do
the album cover's backgrounds come from? (the plaid and patterns, i mean.)
