Please explain to me how the Last Polka is more mellow than Selfless,
Cold, and Composed. I personally feel that selfless is one of the most
beautiful, *sublimely* powerful songs by BFF while the Last polka is,
granted quite good, in your face anything but mellow. "You been pushin
me like I was a sore tooth BOOM - BOOM - BOOM - BOOM"
and that's a quote.

I love all Ben Folds songs. One of my friends said, "Picking your favorite Ben
Folds song is like picking your favorite child" (Thanks to Kate, if you're
reading this!) And I so so agree with that... BUT... there's somehting about
"Video"... If you turn off all the lights and sit Indian style on the floor
with "Video" really loud on your stereo, it will make you cry. And not just
because the noise is too much for you and it is making your eyes water. It's
so damn POWERFUL, man! It HURTS!

So, last nite (Sunday) at, lets say.. 11pm-ish, I was in bed trying to fall
asleep. VH1 was already on and I was too lazy to try to change the station.
The show that was on was called, Rock n' Roll Jepordy (spelling??). So, I'm
like half asleep watching this with my eyes still cracked open, and one of the
contestants picked, Numbers for $500. Answer: This Brick band is surprisingly
a trio. WOW!!! When I heard that I was so excited!! Good thing one of the
girls knew the answer or I woulda been pissed.... But think about it, Ben and
the boyz are being referred to and are answers now in chezzy game shows on
VH1!!! What a step, huh??? I think its kinda neat, in a weird sort of way.....

Whoever had that post that talked about the songs that you can't live
without said the most right statement I've ever heard. So, in that vein
(is this the right kind of vein to be in?) my favorite songs are, in no
particular order:
1. Eddie Walker
2. Evaporated
3. One Angry Dwarf
4. The Last Polka
5. Protect (I only have this on mp3, but the best part is when he says
somethign like "I don't give a shit about you," or somethign along those
lines.)

As I was driving home from Bonnie-ravaged Va. Beach Friday morning, I had
NBP in the player, and Twin Falls came on. All of a sudden I had a lyrical
epiphany and noticed that part of the song was about 7-up, the little kids
game. I know BFF didn't write the song, but it was still cool. I started
laughing to myself, and my dad thought I was insane.

Yeah, I met a guy (Scott) this weekend that looks like Ben, almost
exactly. Same build and face, it was uncanny. I couldnt stand it
anymore and I asked if he had ever heard of Ben Folds, and he asked if
I was going to tell him he looks like Ben. How cool is that?! He had
actually heard of them, most people have no idea who I'm talking
about. He said he'd even been to a show of theirs too. But the best
thing about him was he was so goofy and cornball. We were eating
popsicles and he put one in his ear and told the guy sitting next to
me to say "you've got a popsicle stick in your ear" whenever he said
what. I think everyone knows what comes next. Anyway I thought it
was the funniest thing I had heard in a long time, it was so corny.
Plus he looked so much like Ben that I HAD to laugh at everything he
did. Okay, just thought I'd share that.

Selfless is a rock song? I beg to differ...it has a beautiful melody and the
song speaks a lot more to me than Boxing...just my opinion

Hey y'all...
I've been away for a month and have about 50 MA's to read through and it seems
like one of the recent topics has been favorite songs so:

- - Video - because the piano is unbelievable and Ben's voice pushes it over the
top
- - Underground - the live version from NBP only because of the superb "I got
this pain in my heart...that's all" line
- - Jackson Cannery - Amen the "Great Ceasar's Ghost" line
- - OAD - first got me hooked on BFF
of course plenty more runners up like Kate, SFTD, Emaline, Julianne, Where's
Summer B?, BOWCCL, Fair, etc, etc, etc.
that's all for now,
Paul

Hmmm...whenever I feel like being a rock-crazed fiend, I put on
Selfless, Cold and Composed, let me tell ya!! Yeah, and when I'm in the
mood for some mellow BFF, nothing lets me chill out more than Last

Dear Fellow Armchairers-
I am quite aware that most people on this list are looking for a Ben Folds
Five Poster EVERYWHERE. I found a website about one week ago claiming to have
one. Of course, I ordered it, although it cost $9.00. I just recieved the
poster in the mail today, and I am very upset. This company claims that the
posters are "Full Color" but when you scroll down to "Ben Folds Five" it says
in little tiny letters "Black on white." The company also claims the posters
to be Originals, but the one I recieved it most definitley a copy. So,
Everyone BEWARE! The site is "http://www.xro.com"
and the e-mail address is xroads@xro.com.
BEWARE! Cancel your orders from them, or if you haven't DON'T MAKE ANY!
