Oh dont'cha love it when people copy and send an entire digest to the digest?
Yum Yum, that sure is good.

I wanted to know (I know Dan has seen it) if anyone thinks about the Fear of
Pop cover art. I'm a big fan of pretty albums. The prettiest album this year
has been Perennial Favorites. MY GOSH! What a great job they did. Not only
does the music rock, but the slimline case with the gorgeous pictures and seed
catalogue. Just buy this album for the case. It's damn pretty. I hope Fear
of Pop has pretty art on it. Ben Folds Five albums have never been GREAT, but
I did cut out the last picture on my NBP for a pic of Ben for my beside table.
I wake up, and I see him. It's truly magical...heheh jk.

Yo, Courtney (you may remember her as the sultraness of swing---to the old
armchairians only!!!! you rawk me! OOO cannot wait for a backlash. don't
backlash to that, and I'll be disappointed!) was on My Generation. And she
rawks. YEAH!

Just say what's in the 5, and we won't judge you!!!!

Waiting for a post by Frank, and a lovely lyric line at the end.....his
worshiper,

Lucy Robinson

In the 5:
Dag: Apartment #635 (or something like that...)
Squirrel Nut Zippers: Debut
Randy Newman: Sail Away (gosh, that rawks)
Beck: Odelay
Foo Fighters: The colour and the shape

Umm yo... favorite bff song would have to be evaporated. But if I
really want to rock or something its last polka. Both are just really
good songs. I have one thing to say. We are all talking about all
the BFF songs we like but what about the songs we don't like? I can
honestly not think of any bff songs that are bad but can you think of
a song thats like maybe the worst bff song. Is there a worst bff
song? U decide. Hey I got me a new T-shirt and it says kiss my ass
on the back. SO like some lady and taco hell hurass me about it and
told me how it affended her and I said hey lady do what the shirt
says. I she started yelling and then got kicked out along with her 2
kids. It was sooo damn funny. Fear of Pop???WHen when when when???I
am sorry but I just don't have enough ben at the moment and the ben I
have is just way old. I have been listening to the jellyfish for a
while actually so its not that bad. But anywho i am beginning to
ramble

To Ian and others not wanting to leave their credit card number on an
answering machine:

I tried calling 1-888-BENFOLDS5 on a weekend to order at t-shirt and
got an answering machine and also didn't want to leave my dad's
credit card number. So I had my dad call during normal business
hours (M-F, 9-5, EST) and he got to talk to a real person. You can
try calling that number during those times and you should get an
operator.

here^Òs an example of my intelligence...
today I had bff^Òs wonderful song ^Ñair^Ò going through my head, and I
cleverly remarked "I have air in my head."
I got a lot of weird looks and let me tell you, I^Òll never hear the end
of that one...

Subject: covers and harmonies

Just thought of this...
does anyone else believe that bff^Òs covers are among their finest work?
I don^Òt mean like, their *only* good work but here^Òs my argument -
1. she don^Òt use jelly
2. twin falls
3. video killed the radio star
4. hava nagila (not great, but funny)
5. freebird
I guess that that^Òs a pretty convincing argument that bff should do more
covers, cause they^Òre all good, but I wouldn^Òt want to suggest any.
And...
remember all those favourite harmonies posts? how could you all leave
out ^Ñshe don^Òt use jelly^Ò? I guess cause not many people have access to
it, but on the ^Ñvaseline^Ò, ^Ñmagazines^Ò and ^Ñtangerines^Ò bits, they^Òre
really really good, probably not quite equal with the ^Ñdown, down, down^Ò
bit in eddie walker though.

first of all, I know I got the words wrong to 'flagpole sitta' and
called it the wrong thing, alright! - I was TIRED!

2nd- One of my students at my prac school just lent me a copy of bff on
hard rock live, now since I'm an aussie and I didnt think I was ever
likely to see it, I am pretty damn stoked about this (not to mention
that my students have good taste- when I wore my bff 'kiss my ass'
tshirt to school I got so many students coming up and saying: 'oh do you
like bff, miss?' they were very impressed - now I have cred. It's very
scary)
anyway, any brissie/aussie pals o' mine who wanna see it, email me and
I'll copy it.

also to anyone emailing me: I'm on prac so I can't get to my computer as
often which is why i take so long to reply - SORRY!

btw, I know hardrock live was done ages ago, but I have to reiterate
what was said weeks back: damn, it's funny when the stool breaks.

nonbentent: i'm going to livid, cha, cha, cha

she don't use jelly is now my favourite cover, i play it over and over
and over.... I love hearing darren adn robert sing, they have fine fine
voices! (but ben is still better adn more comfortable with it)
actually I think all the bsides on SFTD are good value; the stuff at the
end of the japanese version kills me.

lastly I found today that there's a vcr with long play at my prac
school, so now i can finally play that dang tape of bff on rage. can't
copy it, but at least I can watch it. (thanks lesley :) )

sleep well my childrens

p.s. last period on a friday afternoon sucks far more for the teacher
than the students and just you remember that

i've seen a few posts asking about the tour dates of the boys, and as i
remember it the three were to end their tour at japan, which they did in
the middle of august. then they would devote their fall and winter to
making their new album (and hopefully taking a much needed vacation)-
which means they probably wouldn't tour except for maybe locally. so
there probably won't be another tour till their new album comes out
right? or am i lost?

Howdy armchairers!

I checked out that How to Keep an Idiot Busy site, whoever it was that
put it on the list. I found it frustrating, being the determined little
bugger that I am, but it was good for a laugh.

I dont know if this has been mentioned B4, but I was thinking that the
piano section in the middle of Alice Childress sounds a heck of a lot
like a Joe Jackson song. I was brought up listening to cool music like
his, no wonder I have such good taste in music today (hehehe).

Does ne1 else agree with this, or am I the lone ranger in having this
idea? I can't remember if it is just the general JJ sound or a specific
song. N E ideas, guys?

<<But there's something about the rawness of their older stuff, some of the
writing on Whatever and Ever Amen just seemed to be more.....radio friendly.>>
i totally agree...the first time i heard self-titled (after i had bought WAEA)
i thought s/t sounded more beatles-like (that's not a word, i realize) and
WAEA was more radio oriented, which is why s/t will always be my fav.

someone comented on one of their fav "bands" being liz phair. i think she's
awesome, polyester (sp?) bride is one of my fav songs now (thank God for
college radio!)....ginger said that the everyday people from scandinavia were
good, never heard of them, but the getaway people from norway (coincidence?)
are very good as well

<<since evidently (at least according to my reseach) no one knows what the
hell
they (BBF) are doing right now.>>
well during the summer they finished up their tour in japan and then i think
ben atleast went to australia (?) and then they go back into the studio to
start recording and writing and all that again...oh also, don't mean to
criticize, but it's BFF

Wow. I just heard this (Morning Becomes Eclectic 10/17/95) for the first time.
It's probably not new to you guys, but I just discovered it at
Liveconcerts.com under KCRW. The piano version of Emaline that they played on
the show was truly awesome! The version of SFTD that they played was cool too!
And who could forget Philosophy, Underground, and Jackson Cannery. I
especially liked their funky little variations on the "whoa-oa" part of
Jackson Cannery. Very cool. I strongly encourage anyone that's never heard it
to check it out. Anyway, just I'd share my experience with you. Sorry I
started to ramble.
