Hi fellow BFF fans! Its me, Caroline here. I haven't posted anything for a
while, but here goes. Anyway, I was at the music store lately and I asked
about Ben's solo album "Fear Of Pop" and I think the guy looked it up on the
store's computer and told me it should be out like September 15th or
something. I could be wrong about this, but this is what I remember he said.
And about people who look like the guys, I swear that one of my 10-year-old
sister's friends looks EXACTLY like Robert Sledge. I'm not saying that he
looks like a little girl (I think he's really cute), its just that the
resembelance between them is uncanny. Its weird, but the last time I saw her,
I was just like WOW, ITS ROBERT! (She even has the shoulder-length brown hair
too). And my favorite songs would have to be Underground, Bad Idea, Song for
the Dumped, Kate, Sports & Wine, Julianne, Jackson Cannery, Eddie Walker, and
Philosophy. I know I've kinda rambled on, but I just love to talk about Ben
Folds Five. Later!

Bah, I wish I was cool enough to have Ben's birthday, but alas I was born on
Sept. 21. I can still take heart in the fact that 21 is just a 12 transposed.

Well Jer, you are not the only transposee...my birthday's also on Sept.
21...so close! Makes you want to smack your mom doesn't it? Who cares if I'd
be premature? I could share a birthday with a legend! Instead the only
celebrity I share a birthday is Cecil Fielder :P

Hello armchairers

Ok, wasn't this the maillist with the most, where people responded to each
other? So what do people think about sending Ben some kind of birthday thing
(it's sept. 12)? Feedback, please!

Anyway, I have a couple questions. First of all, i just got the mp3 of Rocky.
Does anyone know where the idea for this song came from? How about someone
out there with a transcription of the words or something (it's not the
greatest copy)? I sure hope so... it's like new bff for me.

And another thing... I went to the Music Boulevard site today and there's this
new single called Brick ep - a japanese release in the near future. It's not
Brick, Brick pt.1 or Brick pt. 2 - what is it? What are the other tracks?
Anyone know?

And how have people seen the cover art to Fear of Pop yet? i wanna see!

Sorry to bore you with such random stuff.

Hey everyone! This is for anyone who may have missed some TV
appearances:

On September 14, The BF5 Conan will be rerun. It said the rerun of
6/26/98, but that wasn't the date, was it? Either way, they'll be on.

On October 30, the BF5 Hard Rock Live appearance will be reaired. Which
is good for me because I managed to forget about it two times.

So, there you go!

You said for gymnastics, you're thinking of mixing some BF5 songs.
Well, does it have to be
slow or fast? I don't know, I think One Angry Dwarf would be pretty
cool.

You know when I first heard OAD, and I didn't look at the words, I
thought he was saying "I'm a big angry hornet" instead of "now I'm big &
important." :) Anyone else think that? I mean, it kind of made sense,
at the time.

Unless I missed something (and I do read everything in these digests,
usually!), is it true that no one's heard anything about the John Lennon
tribute album?

For anyone living in the Greater Toronto area, there's this great free
'zine called Ductape (it's the warped tour bonanza issue #15&16) and they
had a bit of Ben Folds Five content. A review of some Chicago show , a
review of NBP (this issue was delayed a couple of months), and just an itty
bitty picture of them and just a few quotes/question, answer bits...nothing
too spectacular... it's maybe only a half a black and white page long...but
its still Ben Folds Five...which is good

Subject: bad songs and joe jackson

First, JOE JACKSON(love that first name)

Although he has a few songs I really like I think the main reason he
comes up in comparisons is simply the piano. Jackson's songs ON THE WHOLE
don't have NEARLY the hooks and creative melodies that Folds' do.

BAD BEN FOLDS FIVE SONGS(there...I said it)

FIRST : demos : As I've stated before, I think "COOL WHIP," "KALAMAZOO,"
"LONELY," "HALF ASLEEP" are obviously inferior(some TERRIBLY inferior) to
tracks that made the albums.

SECOND : lp tracks : I don't want to part with these songs, sometimes I
even REALLY like listening to them but I could very easily live without
them : smoke, cigarette, julianne, fair, dumped

Again, don't bother telling me I'm wrong and that these songs are great.
I'm sure I have named some people's favorite songs in my "bad" list.
Personal preference......

I was reading who weekly and there was this little review of semisonic^Òs
album. It said "...you^Òll hear Matthew Sweet in the pretty ^ÑShe spreads
her wings^Ò, Ben Folds Five in the bouncy ^Ñnever you mind^Ò, and weezer in
the mosh-friendly single ^Ñclosing time^Ò." I wrote that cause I know
there are a lot of weezer fans on here and obviously a lot of bff fans,
so maybe you should all check out semisonic, I wouldn^Òt know, I^Òve only
ever heard ^Ñclosing time^Ò.

I have heard Emaline only once and that was when they played it on 'Hard
Rock Live'. I don't have NBP yet. Anywho, I was wondering if anyone
could send me all the lyrics to it... I can't quite make a few words out
from the HRL tape. Thanks. I really love it but I just can't figure
out a few phrases!

Funny thing,
The other day I was reading the armchair and I realized something....I don't
know who the hell half of these people are. Another funny thing is that
they are talking about all of the same stuff (for the most part) that we
(older members) were talking about months ago. Also...when did Robert
become known as "Robbie"?
bf5's new album is expected out sometime early next year.
