Has anyone actually confirmed the supposed September 15 release date of
Fear of Pop? I couldn't find it on any new music release lists such as
Billboard's list and ICE's list.

Just wondering....

Hey all! I haven't posted in many moons. Just kind of lurked. But since 2
people asked, "Fear of Pop" will be on Sony/550 (or at least, that's what
I read some time ago). I'm not sure if Sept. 15th is correct, but I hope
it is, because I can't wait to hear it. Hope you all are doing well and
life is lovely. :)

ok i realize everyone's tired of brick stuff, but this is only half brick
related...so anyway, does anyone ever wonder what would've happened if ben's
g/f wouldn't have gotten that abortion in high school? i mean that kid would
have ben folds as his/her dad, how awesome would that be? people would go
what's your dad do for a living and he/she could say oh he's ben folds, he
writes the most awesome music in the world :)

In a message dated 98-09-06 21:05:33 EDT, you write:

Matthews on the cheesy show "Boy Meets World"? It's on during TGIF
on ABC. I don't know the actor's name though. >>
His name is Will Friedle. I guess I shouldn't know that. Ha. and YEAH! I do
see it. On the cover of NBP, he looks exactly like a friend of mine. Kinda
freaks me out.

I think that's a really bad ide, and if it IS his house, you should all send
your birthday cards to the po box, simply out of respect. I think you're all
bright enough to figure out WHY it's a matter of respect and why you SHOULDNT
do it, so i wont bother going on any further...

Hey all
There was this thing on MTV called Video Music Award Artist Cuts where
bands go on for about 5 or so minutes to talk about their video that was
nominated for an MTV award. Apparently in my Optus guide, one of the bands
listed as being on was no other than BFF. To my dismay I missed it (and I'm
kicking myself for it). I was wondering if anyone had seen this, like what
was it like? The only thing I saw was this guy who was talking about the
video, he was a fan or something, and he was saying how it was cool or
something. Oh this is for 'Brick' by the way.
I just thought I'd mention that for my trial HSC english exam, we were
supposed to write an essay on something we felt strongly about, so I took a
stance on the whole Brickhead debate that raged a few months ago on the
armchair, and I got an A+ for it! Yay for me (care factor = 0 you say).

You know, everyone keeps telling YOU about what bands sound like BFF....ie
ELO, Joe Jackson, the lovin spoonfull (??) Semisonic, etc. but i'll tell
YOU something...the only reason that BFF gets compared to any of those
bands, or Elton John, or Billy Joel, or whoever, is ONLY because of the
fact that it's a band which includes a piano.
IGNORANT people will listen to a song, hear that it has piano, and make a
little connection in their heads and say "gee, this sounds like..." but it
DOESN'T!!! Ben FOlds Five Does Not Sound Like Any Other Band!! These are
the same people that say all rap is the same! that all ska is the same!
that all BLACKS are the same! that all JEWS are the same! These Are The
Same People That Believe That Martians Can Come From Any Planet, EVEN The
Moon!! (when, in fact, they can only come from mars...hence the name.)
Don't listen to your parents, they are ignorant.
Don't listen to your friends, they are stupid.
Don't listen to your older siblings, they are mean.
Don't listen to your younger siblings, they hate you.
Don't listen to the newscasters, they are conspirators.
Don't listen to the DJs, they are dropouts AND sellouts.
Listen to your own damn self. Go to the library and get an ELO cd and find
out for YOURSELF that they just HAPPEN to use a piano. Get a Joe Jackson CD
from the 99 cent bin and find out that he is good in his OWN way. Go online
and listen to The Lovin' Spoonfull's one goddamn hit song and realize that
it is just a fluke.
And while you're at the library, why not get a book?

This is one claim i would never make. I knoe people who are so much more
into bF5 than me. The only claim i have is I was the first person out of my
friends to like them yet they all loved underground anyway.

Nononono NAT! Rage is far cooler than that. And erm.. heres a shocker.. i'm
going thru tapes and im pretty sure i have a clip of Uncle Walter from
Smash Hits from ages ago which is possibly the werst music televsion show i
now of.
I also watched anotehr mroe recent tape and discorver SFTD was on it like
6 times. It went sftd another song sftd.. you get the idea. this scared me.
Im shure my evol mother has been taping it. OH and did anyone get BF5 off
channel v? My dad came home and stole the teve ten minutes before they were
on so id didn't get it. I would love a copy and erm.. i dunno what i could
trade but im sure i could think of something.

I was listening to a classic rock station the other day. It was getting pretty
boring, I was getting ready to turn it off, when all of a sudden a song came
on that grabbed my attention. It had the same type of sound as bff songs do,
and the singer sounded alot like Ben. I really wished the DJ would have given
the name of the song, or atleast the artist who did the song, but he didnt.
All I know about this song now is it had the line "back when my hair was
short" in it. Any of you think you've heard this song?

Damn! I was born on May 21. If only my mom had just kept me in for a few
more months. Not only would I have a cool ass birthday, but I'd
undoubtedly be the biggest baby ever born.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, I was at Plan 9 in Richmond, and in the used CD's
section, they had this Ben Folds Five CD called "mix tapes a masterpiece."
It had like brick, kate, slnit, sftd, evaporated, and maybe one more. Has
anyone ever heard of this? The CD is gone by now, however. At the time I
saw it, I was "without money," as I like to call it.

Does anyone in or around Richmond, Va know any other music stores aside
from Plan 9 that's a good place to find used cd's and other such non-top 40
music?

Oh yeah, I finally saw the half question on Fanatic, and I noticed the guy
was wearing a yarmulke. Also, at the beginning of Hava Nagila, Ben says
somethign like "that clapping reminds me of a song I used to hear when I
was growing up." So, what those two statements are leading to is A) are
there any other Jewish listees, and B) is Ben Jewish, or was his dad or mom
a bar mitzvah singer?
