Hi Armchairer's...
I am briefly coming out of lurking mode to tell you about a Ben spotting. Last
Monday I went to check out Sean Lennon at the Viper Room in Hollywood and Ben
was there w/ his girlfriend. He had on the Buddy Holly-like specs and a plaid
shirt. He watched the show rather unobtrusively & didn't have a priveleged
viewing spot or anything, just watched from the floor with the rest of us.

I'm not sure if they stayed for the whole show..as they seem to have
disappeared 3/4 of the way through.

Any other armchair folks go to this show? No one really seem to care who Ben
was. At least not that they showed.

We now return to our regularly scheduled lurking...

oh man!, at the MTV awards tonight after they finished announcing the
nominees for best alternative video, i noticed that there were 3 little
statuetes on the podium, and i was so excited for the guys, then i realized
those bastards in green day also have 3 heads, goddamn it!, I really wanted
the guys to take that award home, and they truly did deserve it, so guys
congratulations on being nominated and we all know u earned.

On another VMA note, i think the beginning piece with the backstreet
boyZ, and ben stiler and andy dick, was one of the funniest things I have ever
seen! Brian Seitzer rocked! and MCA gave the same damn speech when i saw the
beasties in concert like 2 weeks ago. As much as i love and respect the
beasties MCA's gotta get his head out of his ass and realize that the only
answer to force is with a much stronger force. That is the only way u can
teach these sick bastards a lesson. Wow i feel so political.

Also with the whole is Ben jewish thing, i was also curious but I DONT
WANNA KNOW, so whoever answers this question please email those peeps who
wanna know individually so i dont have to see the answer. Its a personal
reason, so keep it amongst urselves.

I've noticed a hell of a lotta armchairers have September birthdays, not
unlike Mr. Folds. Glad to see that there are so many Virgoans out
there, not surprising since there are more Virgos than any other star
sign. Happy birthday!

Moika (Birthdate Sept. 18th)

Did I mention Virgos have impeccable musical taste?

I've noticed this too,:) another cool thing about the Charlie Brown CD is
that the whole band is a piano, bass, and drums trio, just like BF5-when I first
heard Underground, the ending really reminded me of Guaraldi
And my dad noticed it too! I was playing BF5 once and he thought it was
Peanuts music...Interesting...

Well, when I started rockin out to Hava Nagila, my mom started singing along
and I asked, "You know the words to this song?" and she said "Yeah, its like
the only Jewish song Americans know - it used to be popular"...(my mom grew up
in the 60's)
So Ben probably just heard it growing up...then again he could have Jewish
blood, who knows?

Ok, am I the only person who has "Half Asleep" on his/her top 5 Ben Folds
songs?

Crap!!! I was sooo disappointed when BFF didn't win the award for best
alternative video on MTV. I was kinda guessing that was going to happen since
I don't know anybody except one friend that knows them. But the part that got
me reallly angry was when Green Day (who won) got up there and weren't even
appreciative. Don't get me wrong I like Green Day, but to go to the podium
and pushing your band members to the mike just to say "Hi" to their friends
instead of thanking someone really makes me turn. The one part about their
speach that I did like was how he gave his director the middle finger!

Oh well.... Our boyz didn't win the Best Alternative Video Award Thursday
nite, but did you actually think that they might?? Not to sound like I'm
hoping failure to the band or anything, but I knew they wouldn't win. I mean,
how many times did you see Brick on rotation or see it requested on Total
Request?? I'm surprised to see Green Day win it though.. If anything, I
thought Garbage or Radiohead would have won... But I don't even think BFF IS
alternative.. I actually hate that word, so I would never describe Bff as it.
It just sounds so.. I don't know, not spicific enough or whatever.. I can't
really explain it, but all I know is that Bff is really in their own category.
First of all, they have a piano is the band... Not many rock bands have that
as the LEAD instrument, and they can have songs, like Missing the War, when
they go from slow and mellow, to rock jammin'. Thats what I love about em....
Plus, I don't know if anyone caught this, on the Post SHow, when Kurt Loder
was talking to Green Day, they said something like, " We thought we might get
the Video Vanguard Award, but when we saw the 3 moon men, we knew Ben Folds
Five had it!!!" All I did was laugh... Funny that they were mentioned.. Other
bands do acknowledge them, somewhat... (3 moonmen ~ Beastie Boys has 3
members, Green Day has 3, so does Bff..... Coulda been either of em, Billie!!)

I was going crazy. IT was so cool to see a fan a cool band on MTV for once
and to add to it, he was Jewish! I thought that kicked! So yes, (A) I am
Jewish too :) and (B) I was wondering the same thing!

Hmmm.
This is just all too confusing for me.
