All the sudden notice of "Everybody's Free" has sorta annoyed me, since it's
another case of a dear song to me becoming dilluted by commercial radio.
But anyway, here's the 411:

The song, whose lyrics are an odd graduation speech written by a
Chicago Tribune columnist but first believed to be written by Kurt Vonnegut,
is a remix of the original "Everybody's Free" from Lurhman's hit movie,
"Romeo + Juliet" (yes, the Danes-DiCaprio one.) It was put out on a
compilation with other songs from work Luhrman had done (plays, commercials,
etc.) called "Something For Everybody," back in the winter of 1997. I
remember playing it on my old radio show. This would, obviously, make it
pre-"Fear Of Pop." Now, some DJ somewhere (odds are, LA) discovered it and
has now started a nationwide phenomenon.

So, the history, in a nutshell. Just thought I'd catch y'all up. :)

Getting tired for TUBORM (or even the "Army" single) to arrive at KICB,

"You know, love is a happy time all throughout the universe. It's when
a male part of the species goes to the female part of the species, and
says, 'Hey? You wanna go on a date?' And then, she would say, 'Why,
yes, I'd like to go on a date...' IF YOU'RE LUCKY! And then you go to
a restaurant, and she gets something called a 'salad.' And then he
gets a big piece of beef, that he eats. And that, to me, ladies and
gentlemen, is love. Kinda makes you cry, doesn't it?"

"Nine years," said DJ David Silver as
Brandon Walsh drove away in the Beverly Hills nightscape earlier
this month. "that's a long time for a group to hang out. High school,
college, the real world. Death, drugs, depression, raging hormones,
puberty. You name it, we suffered through it all. Still are."
