I'm not sure if I posted this previously or not, so if I did, my apologies in
advance. For those of you wondering about Movin' On 99, I had contacted one
of the PSU organizers. Here's what she had to say...

<It's true. Ben Folds Five is the headliner for our annual Movin' On
festival. Movin' On is on April 24 on Pollock Fields. (If you don't know
campus, there's a map at http://www.clubs.psu.edu/arhs/map.htm ) The
festival is all day, from noon until around 10 PM. And Ben Folds Five will
be the last band to perform, maybe around 8ish? Admission is free.

If you have any other questions, feel free to write back.

Jamie Harmer
Director of Public Relations,
Association of Residence Hall Students
ahrs@psu.edu>

She assured me that the show is open to the public, so if you can get to
University Park on Saturday, you're in for a good show. Also appearing at
the festival are Freedy Johnston, Stretch Princess, Guided by Voices, A Tribe
Called Quest, Citizen King, and Fleming and John. Apparently, there are also
other attractions, such as games, food, etc.

WOW!!! That's all I can say. This was my first BFF show and I'd
never seen anything so great, WOW!!! Well, as for a summerization it was
almost exactly how drummerAR described the Franklin and Marshall shows so I
won't explain much about what they played just on how they played it.
Flemming and John played and I thought they were really good, little
did I know they were about to be blown out of the water by Ben's playing, in
my opinion. I like Flemmings leather pants and obviously a few other fans
did because they were yelling it out in the middle of the show. I really
liked their songs though, and if I wasn't a poor bastard I would've bought
their CD.
As for Ben Folds it was amazing!!! The lighting, which not much have
commented on, was soooo good exspecially for Don't Change Your Plans and
everyother song. They all had some kind of lighting program for them and it
was awesome. Tell me if this was just the TLA or was the lighting all cool
and misty like for the other shows. As for any differences between this and
the Franklin and Marshall show, in Steven's Last Night In Town, Robert
started singing "We Got the Beat" by the Go Go's and it was awesome. But
they never really caried the cover. In the encore Ben played Song For the
Dumped as long as a song "lullabye" or "good night" but in SFD Robert was
using this really pscadelic instrament that made all these weird techno
sounds. It was really cool, reply saying if he used this in the other shows,
cause I thought it was amazing. It was a little ball attached to somekind of
small base and when he put his hands over it it made weird sounds.
I really liked the songs off the new CD I thought they were a great
contrast to all the heavy songs they were playing off the older CDs not to
say that Narcolepsy wasn't heavy. UH . . . . know that I've wore myself out
I think I'll stop talking and see what others say about the show. If anyone
has a set-list can they post it for me, or just e-mail it directly to me.

P.S. I dunno if Ben did this at the Franklin and Marshall show but at the
end of Song For The Dumped he got up on the other piano and slammed his stool
down and broke it, I've heard refrences to him doing this in other concerts
but I'd never seen it so I was psyched.

um. ok. so ive not been reading the armchairs very much lately because
of finals and such, so i dont know if this has been said, but ive heard
army on the radio and seen the video (my gf taped it for me), and the
more i listen to it, the more i hear steppin' out by joe jackson. this
is strange to me because back when weaea came out that was the big
comparison (well, billy joel was the BIG comparison, but joe was
second). does anyone else hear this?

Sorry about another TLA post, but i just wanted to say that i had soooooo
much fun at both philly shows. It was my 5th and 6th time seeing them (which
i know is so insignificant compared to alot of you), and it absolutely rocked
(as usual) not only becuase I've finally moved up to the stage where ben
knows me by name, but because he gave the girl next to me named brandy the
mic during Underground (the 2nd night), and she either got nervous or wasn't
able to hear what part they were on because of all the shouting, so i sort of
got my head in the mic next to her and did the right part with her.

I was the first person in line at both shows and everyone that i met (which
was most of the people in line both nights) were SO awesome. I think Ben
Folds Five fans are just the coolest group of people, even if many of you are
moody psychos online.

I was part of the "unintelligable" (stated by leigh, but it's ok, i love you
anyway) group of people during 2nd night who were singing "robert, darren,
and ben....come on outside and play for your friends" (which if you were
there, I'm sure you heard). We all had just met that night and turned into a
geeky, loving, loud group.

How cute was it when Robert got ontop of the piano for underground??? And
How freaking adorable is Flemming (we both covet each other's hair, btw!)??
And does anyone else agree with me that their manager (AKA-the dude who
always wears shorts) looks like the ghost from the movie, Ghost that teaches
patrick swayze how to move stuff????

Also-I'll have pictures scanned of the guys (inclduing one of rob ontop of
the piano) in a couple of days, so if you want them, just send me a short
note, and I'll get them to ya =)

any word on the open summer dates yet?

okay

TLA show #2 kicked ass....much better than the F and show....leigh and co.
have already given pretty much all details about the show, so i won't repeat,
only to say that i got rob to say i'm cute hee hee

anyway

i have VH1 on constantly because i still haven't seen the Army vid(i missed
it on sunday cause i was at the show!) and though i still haven't seen it, i
did see a television ad for the new album, with clips of the video....that
was intersting....it was like, "TUBORM, featureing the hit song "Army" in
stores tuesday, also avaialable as a limited edition video/CD pack" blah
blah blah

i haven't gotten the R and R this week yet (radio and records magazine - like
the industry newspaper that has all the charts of radio airplay in it) but as
soon as i do i will update where the boys are in the modern rock
standings....last week they were 28!!! in only their second week...things can
only go up from there...the song is really catchy and i think a lot of
programmers that haven't added it yet will have done so this week...esp if a
BFF show is coming to their neck of the woods...

anyway

did anyone happen to tape the 2nd TLA show???? just wondering

Hey- the cool thing about this list has always been the way people respond to BFF
with enthusiasm- we got FIVE detailed reviews on the last few shows on the Live
Review Archive yesterday, (Woo-hoo!) with special props to Leigh who turned in what
looks like a full setlist!

If this keeps up, we should have a great record of the tour by the end of the
summer!
I am working on a script with checkboxes so that you'll be able to re-create the
entire setlist in a few clicks (if you want)-watch for that soon!

I'm really fed up! Armchairers!

I tried to order a T shirt via the international number on the BFF site,
and all I got was a recorded message saying that the number wasn't
working anymore!!!

I wanted the Whatever - Babydoll T' boo!

Then I tried to order the CMJ mag with the foldsters on it and I phoned
the number and got someone's voice mail, I couldn't understand all the
"Star A" stuff, so I got frustrated! Eventually Aaaron answered his
phone and forwarded me to the back issues department where I promptly
got cut off, I tried to call him back, but he wasn't at his desk
anymore!

WONT ANYONE HELP ME IN MY QUEST FOR BFF MERCH' ?????

I feel like you Americans hate me! Please send me lots of nice emails
and say it ain't so!

But seriously, does anyone have any idea why this is occuring?

just watched them both in a row.
underground, compared, looks like they
had a $50 budget or something. (but
i still like it alot!).
and at about 7:15 this morning on
JJJ, they played "don't change your
