Hello everyone--
   just another opinion on TUBORM.........
I got the CD the day it came out and ran back to my dorm room like an excited
child at christmas time.Fortunately, this gift will not poke my eye out.
Well-I can honestly say that this album pretty much rocks the house and I
remember a lot of the songs performed at the concert I attended in
Lancaster,PA.The album may not have as many fast ass rockin beat songs as the
previous releases, but it definitely has the richest and most diverse
qualities. It's actually quite pleasant to hear that our little Chapel Hill
band has spread their wings to experimenting with new sounds and styles. The
integration of the strings and horns and stuff really blend well to give some
outstanding dynamics. The boys always had dynamics, but just think of this as
the extra exclamation point on the music staff. Am I at all making sense?? I
don't know all that much about music, but I do know that this is good
stuff.Damn. Oh yeah--I forgot to mention this in my last e-mail on the
Franklin and Marshall College performance, but did anyone notice that on an
intro into one of their songs(I forgot which) they played something that
sounded exactly like 'Rubber Sled' off FOP??? Am I crazy? Oh well...I shall
fade away into my own insanity now. Nice to post again..wow-twice in one
month.
Loves-
       Melissa

Hey all....I must say I am so in love with the new album. I've read a few
people's post saying that it wasn't there favorite album. Honestly, I don't
think they can be compared. This album is so different from Whatever and Ben
Folds Five. All I can say is their lyrics and music have matured an
incredible amount. My favorite song is Mess, it brings tears!

Anyway...I had the honor of seeing the boys yesterday at Irving Plaza. Such
a great show. A perfect mix of old and new stuff. Before seeing them live I
always thought all of you were exaggerating about how great of a show they
put on....i was wrong, there was no exaggeration.

always,
Kristina

I'd like to echo a few of the comments I've heard on the "chair" today. When
I first listened to TUBORM, I, like some of the rest of you, felt that it
wasn't as fun, as eccentric, as the other albums. I was a little
dissapointed. But on second listen or so, I really began to pick up on what
the album is all about. The drums are so much better-- it seems like he's
more in control of the rhythm and it sounds GREAT. The Piano is SUCH a
standout on this album--so clear, so cleverly written, it's amazing. Ben
still has some wonderful lyrics, as usual, and they always make you think,
even simple ones, like "I love you...Goodbye". Army's so very much in the
tone of "Philosophy" --Ben's splendorous play on words wins again. And is it
me, or does "Lullaby" sound a little blues-y? I don't know...I love this
album for what it's worth. I sort of liked the Rolling Stone
Interview...what does everyone else think?

I love the new CD, the music is definatly "rock opera" and more
experimental then the last two full length albums. My only problem is
the lyrics, I am not following any plot or massage in a few of them. I
hope when the FAQs are updated there will be a few explanations, on
Narcolepsy, Don't Change Your Plans, Mess, Magic, and Your RedNeck
Past. My favorite song so far is Jane Be Jane. I thought my life was
dysfunctional but after review the album once, I felt my life wasn't
that bad.
