Hey, i think I know where the rumor developed. Read the lyircs to "Army":
"Citing artistic differences the band broke
up in May
And in June reformed without me
And they got a different name"

I think this solves the rumor situation, unless of course, Ben wrote that to
hint at something . . . but I really doubt that is the case

Am I the only one who thinks a Dave Matthews and Ben Folds
collaberation would be a bad thing???? I think I am one of the few
people in this world that is not a DMB fan. The guy can really write
music and is great on the guitar but I there is somthing about most of
his songs that I can't stand. Please don't flame me for this...it is
just a difference of opinion.
Oh and if anyone did record the webcast I would like a copy...I
doubt anyone did, it would take up a lot of space.

I was just wondering what version of dr. pyser is on the British army
single, if it is the one on teleconned - volume 1, on the BOWCCL single, or
another version altogether. I realize this has already been discussed on
the armchair; however, I do not recall the answer. I apologize for the
repetition. Please send answers to me privately at atho@uclink4.berkeley.edu.

Well i'm now addicted to this site called www.musicnewswire.com , So i can
share all these BFF goodies (and not so goodies) i found there:

(FOP, Shatner, Toronto, Frally & kids)

http://www.canoe.ca/JamAlbumsB/benfolds_biography.html
(Short TUBORM review, compared to Pauls Simon & McCartney, bacharach)

http://www.nme.com/reviews/reviews/19990404112846reviews.html
(TUBORM review, compared to Woody Allen, Andrew Lloyd Webber; plethora of
adjectives)

*This you cn find in print!
(Butterflies, the new album, Queen, nice pics to steal for websites)

http://cgi.pathfinder.com/ew/daily/0,2514,1424,benfoldsfivehave.html
*This you can also find in print
(Burt Bacharach crazy! also a link to another (?) EW review of TUBORM)

there's also a really crzappy review of TUBORM on www.sonicnet.com (where
they compare the whole thing to "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway"...as IF!!)
as well as an even crappier concert review of one of the Irving Plaza shows
(where they mistake John Painter for Tom Maxwell, AND call Tom Maxwell a
"delta blues originator"....tell me how a 30 year old guy can be an
originator of a music that began 100 years ago. and he is more into swing
and calypso anyway....GRR)....

Yeah, so anyway, I can't get SonicNet to work. it's all errors. So like,
you'll have to find the stuff yourself. (go to www.sonicnet.com and do a
SEARCH for Ben Folds Five)

God, journalists piss me OFF.

Speaking of journalists, didja read Ben's interview at
www.theshrubbery.com? Now THAT journalist knows her shit! ;)

hehehe, a mullet. is this just an australian word for these hairdos?
must be, coz no one ever knows what they are on international lists like
this, except the aussies.

think 80s hair, long at the back, short on the sides, Bill Ray Cyrus
style. that's a mullet.

I have noticed two posts now of people saying that R.M. was Darren. I think that the people who thought it was the story of Bens life because he wrote the songs and he was writing the songs about himself not because they thought that he was the one with
the fake ID. I just thought I would try to clear that up. Oh ya, and BFF does need to come to seattle, I am glad to see all these seattle people posting. Seattle Rocks.

First and foremost, the Park West show in Chicago was absolutely amazing.
The set list was pretty much the same as other shows, but they did Regrets
during the encore (first time live, and very good, I might add). My friend
and I snuck a peek of their setlist before the show and they were planning on
doing Innagoddadivita as part of the encore as well, but it seems they
skipped over that one to do some improv instead. For those who didn't catch
the show on webcast, SFTD turned into Ben 'singing the blues' about being on
the radio and "having nothing to cry about" followed by Ben hurling his body
all over stage and on top of his piano. Definitely the hightlight of the
night for me.

We played groupie and got autographs after the show. I've never met them
before, but as I predicted, they were all cool guys. One girl had Ben sign
her driver's license because her last name is Messner. He wrote on the back
of it "Do not arrest this woman. Ben Folds" I thought that was pretty funny.

Moving on...my school's newspaper (The Daily Iowan) did a review of TUBORM
for today's paper. They rated the album as Really Good and called TUBORM "a
beautiful and harmonious extraction of sound and style." They also named Ben
Folds Five as one of the top 3 things "on the lips" for this week saying (I
thought this was funny):
"The only 3 piece pop band to sport a lovable piano-playing frontman
with a wedge-shaped head has come out with its highly anticipated follow-up
to 1996's Whatever and Ever Amen. The album's tracks all loosely center on
the lifestory of the mysterious Reinhold Messner. Now that's a concept
album."

Wedge-shaped head?? Hmmm...never noticed it. Oh well.

Toodles,
Denise

Subject: A bunch of things...

1. Is fair that big of a song for them to do it at every concert? I notice
they are doing it all over the place but I wasn't sure that that was as big a
song for them as they though.

2. The version of magic with Darren singing is amazing, I have about a 1
minute MP3 of it if anyone wants, Ben's version is awesome also but the one
with Darren singing it is beautiful, he really has a great voice.

3. Is it just me or does anybody else feel like they are at a completely
different concert of Ben Folds Five when they do there new stuff as compared
to when they do the old stuff. I love the fact that they can silence a room
with beauty in Magic and then the next minute, get the crowd going with
Steven's Last Night in Town. The best example of this was at the URI Show
4/25, for the encore, they did Lullaby which everyone thought was the encore
and it get everyone in a nice calm mood, but then they come out with Song for
the Dumped, an amazing difference. I think that when you pay for tickets to
a Ben Folds Five concert, you really are getting twice what you paid for
cause you get two concerts in one. One of the reasons that Ben Folds Five is
the greatest band in the world to see live (that's just my opinion, don't
shoot me).

thanks everyone for listening to me...Doug
Kaplan...Slk24kgj@aol.com

Hey Everyone!

Wow! This is my first day on the armchair and it's really great to see so
many people who all think BFF are great. Most people I know haven't even
heard of them (although I have converted two of my friends).
I know this sounds weird, but I was looking at the cover of (one of) my
(UK)singles of Army (I bought both versions of course for all the b sides
(falling for record company marketing but so what)) and noticed that the
'R' from the word 'store' (at least, that's what I presume it says) in the
background was missing. I then saw the picture on the actual CD of TUBORM
and the 'R' was there! Strange or what? Was it intentionally removed on
the singles or intentionally added for the album? Maybe we will never
know...
Anyway, the new album in fantastic and I've hardly stopped listening to it
since I got it on the 26th, I want the video pack version though, do I
have to order it to get it in the UK?
