Hello all you fellow Fivers!
I was recently listening to TUBORM and I noticed on Don't Change Your Plans
that Ben's voice sound, well, weird. I don't know if maybe it was the way
that it was recorded or if it was like a synthesizer or what, but it just
sounded kind of strange. I also wanted to say how much I love Darren, not
many people seem to talk a lot about him, I just adore him, he is the most
talented drum player I've ever heard, and he's pretty cute (I just had to
throw that in!). Well, I guess that's all for now!

the dave matthews band played with bff at foxboro stadium june 5 and
giants stadium june 7 last year. i was at both shows, and both times
butch taylor, a good friend of dmb, played keyboards for dmb's set, as he
did much of their tour this fall. seeing how ben folds five was only
around them for a couple of days, i dont see them really having any
connection. would've been nice to see my two favorite bands play
together, though i didnt expect it since for the most part dmb only has
good friends or really established blues or jazz musicians for guests.
and a studio collaboration probably wouldn't work since dave and ben are
both complex songwriters in completely different ways, and neither band
really could contribute much to the other

i don't know what you mean by a pic on a pic but the picture is of darren's
grandfather i believe. however, the picture is what has come to represent
reinhold messner-- it has nothing to do with the actual reinhold messner the
austrian mountain climber guy.

Well smarty-pants, i've got proof that it is NOT a harpschicord, and i
suggest you check out the interview with Ben at www.theshrubbery.com before
you go shootin' off at the mouth.

And about Robert's GF:

Her name is Elizabeth. They've been going out for a while. Darren's single,
tho.

yup, there is a whole bunch of reinhold shirts but they are still selling
ones from the waea tour.

i didn't see that shirt at the irving plaza show. there were no green shirts
at all i think.

yes, tack piano. anyone at any of the shows with ben switching between two
pianos (not the show i went to, but the chicago webcast for one), might have
noticed the difference in sound.

hello everyone!
I was just wondering if any of you were at edge 102 in Toronto when bff
were on the live in Toronto show?
It was so great! There was maybe 10-15 people there and the boys were kind
enough to stick around before and after the show to sign autographs, take
pictures and talk with everyone. Ben was even wearing his *cool* glasses
too! Thenmy friends and I rushed ovre to the Guvernment to take in the
awsome awsome show (even though it was really crowded/hot in there). I
took a whole roll of pictures but I'm not sure if they turned out or not
(I get them back tomorrow) so if they end up turning out maybe someone out
there would like to trade or something?
cya later,

<< it actually made me cry on the way to work the other day, not because it's
sad, just because it is such a GREAT song.... i'm a bit weird about music :)
but god, i wish i had words to describe it.... >>

There is nothing weird about that. I experience the same feeling all the
time. I wouldn't call it crying, its more just watery eyes (read why below).
I believe the best way to descibe the feeling is as follows...
A sudden melodic change or swell in the music often produces a tingling
feeling in the body. Goosebumps are common. However, when an incredible
piece of music is played to its full potential, and stikes a chord that is in
"tune" with your body, the "feeling" is experienced. This feeling is like
having a spoonful of water go through your body, starting at your toes and
concluding as tears in your eyes. A most amazing sensation. you should try
it.

have to rewind from the first track to find it. Call me technologically
incapable, but how do you do this? Do you have to have TUBORM on cassette
verson? Help--must hear this hidden track thing.

I'm sorry to be another person whining about the lack of west coast tours.
Unfortunately, I am still in high school (at least til graduation on May
15) and it does not seem likely that my parents will take me to Missouri
for the St. Louis & Kansas City shows and they sure as hell aren't going
let me go alone or with my friends.
I have been sitting here listening to TUBORM and reading the posts of
everyone that has been to the shows and even met the guys. I can honestly
tell you I am on the verge of tears. Oh well, <sniff...sniff> I WILL find
a way to get to at least two of the shows weather it involves spending my
money saved for college and going by myself.

Lots of love,
Kristin

Well the episode of Before They Were Rock Stars with BFF, or more accurately,
Ben Folds, aired last night. While the segment focused 99.9% on Ben, they did
show some great clips of a Majosha performance and Ben's senior high school
photo. Pretty good all and all. I taped it in case anyone needs it.

About the new t-shirts: They have a black one with a picture of the guys and
a black one with the TUBORM picture on it. I got the new light blue one with
white lettering of Ben Folds Five with reinhold messner as the I.
About the Dave/Ben thing: I am just a huge fan of both and would like to
seeem together. Or Elton and Ben? Haha. I am amusing myself.
About my towel: I hung up my Robert Sledge sweat towel next to my BFF poster
today. Haha. More amusement.

for the record books 25 years from now.

Hey,

There are (as far as i know) 5 new designs of t-shirts for the new tour:

1. baby blue t - "ben folds five" in white with a red reinhold for the "i"
2. babyDOLL baby blue t - with same as above
3. black t with album cover
4. black t with the picture of them looking at their nails and "ben folds
five" on the back
5. the 'warhol' t

there's also a hat that's tan and says "ben folds five" on it

and a new style sticker - white with the warhol reinholds .. i have 2 extra
if anyone wants to set up a trade

<< I have a t-shirt that's army green with the words "Ben Folds Five / Army"
in white stencilled lettering on the front. I assume it's from the new
spring collection. Anyone know if they have been selling this item at any

i didn't see it at the chicago show, but as far as i know that's a promo-only
shirt

BFF was on "before they were rock stars" on VH1 tonight. does anyone actually
HAVE a copy of that majosha show from the duke battle of the bands?? overall
the segment was pretty interesting, but i wish they would have done something
on robert & darren also.

once again, i make my collective plea for all things ben folds five -
especially videos of any kinds from the band. specifically any music videos
(uncle walter, battle), the 95 cat's cradle show, and the infamous midday
appearance. mike hirsch ( who is INFINITE in his cool factor ) is sending me
a copy of the tufts show from the new tour.. and i am looking for copies of
the new irving plaza shows, the new toronto show, and the chicago show.

one more quick thing. does anyone own the sheet music to NBP? i know some
website had it for sale and was wondering if it was worth the money.

<<was anyone NOT watching dawson's creek last night!??!?!>>

Umm..Me.

<<screw all this talk about teaming up with dave matthews! ben should team
up
with hawaiian superstar DON HO!!!!!!>>

Yeah, God knows I don't want to see Ben wearing Hemp necklaces, vans tennis
shoes, and a musty baseball cap. And no Ho with a dumb ass hawian shirt.
Please, we will burn this conversation out.

<<but i do think that BFF and fountains of wayne should tour
together...i know all you NC peeps get to see it...jealously jealously...>>

No Be jealous because of the skinnee.

<<dave's voice annoys me, and the songs get way too long for my
attention span....esp. live, i mean, just how long can you jam on one open E
chord?>>

Damn even I thought that Ben had more talent than just jamming to one open E,
it is sad what kids will listen to these days.

<<a lot of you watch dawson's creek, i guess, judging from the responses
about magic being played in it. practically everyone in my school
watches the show, it seems - a big group of people from my track team
actually had a dawson's creek party the night after it aired, and
watched it on tape. i just hope that they, ignorant of all music that
is not shoved in their faces (hey, they're my friends, but brandy can't
be your prototype of good music), realize that in that emotional and
pivotal funeral scene, part of the reason they felt so sad was because
of the excellent music in the background. :)>>

I think that it is typical nature for around 4/5's of teenagers to just like
what is crammed down their throats. Just as in the likes of Backstreet Boys
and Dawson's Creek.

<<What did Korn say about BF5? Korn sucks ass so I want to know what they
said. Also, I didnt' enjoy reading a billion articles about magic on
dawson's creek. You high school chumps are bastards, I refuse to switch from
90210.>>

I forgot about korn being crammed down the throats of adolecent youth's Yes
there is Korn and the 100's of bands that are just the same thing, like Limp
bizcuit. and about 90210 it changed its name to Dawson's creek about 3 years
ago.
