YES! THAT'S IT! I wasn't going to say anything because I thought I was just
going crazy, but the minute I heard TUBORM and then every time I've heard it
since then I kept thinking "That one piano part reminds me of a very old
Genesis song..." but I couldn't put my finger on which one but I kept
thinking it was something from "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" which I haven't
listened to in ages. Thank you for confirming that I am NOT going nuts.

So the quote isn't BF5, it's Radiohead, but I couldn't think of anything
else. I'm a bit nervous about my first posting...God knows where this
will end up. Well, hello, everyone. I just wanted to add my measly
two cents into the conversation. I'm averaging 3 times a day listening
to their new album (eek...starting to sound really obsessive). I find it
so beautiful, though; I can't help myself. When I feel depressed, I
listen to "Don't Change Your Plans" or "Magic." I know that's kind of
weird since they're a bit...depressing to listen to, but listening to
"Plans" just lifts my spirits & "Magic" touches my soul. Does anyone
else like Darren's original version of "Magic"? I think it's beautiful.

hello everyone,

I have a new style "baby-doll" bff shirt that I'd like to get rid of. It's
light blue and says "Ben Folds Five" across the front of it in white with
the "reinhold messner" guy as the i. The shirt has never been worn...so if
anyone out there is interested (especially in a trade maybe) please email
me privately about it.
thanks,
Jen

hey all,
for those interested, patty griffen is on this month's cd at the GAP. I was
soooo excited when i saw she was on there. The only reason i mention this
here is that i heard a lot about her on here a long time ago, so maybeher
fans are still out there. The only thing that would make me even more
surprised would be to see BF5 on there....
take care,

I'd just like to say that as an avid BFF fan I also really like DMB and BNL, I own
severalalbums from each group. It's all about musicality to me. If the music is
arranged in an
original manner I will listen to anything. I'm not above being pulled into 'pop'
hooks and
one hit wonders if the music works.

You all know BFF is more than all this and yet it still apeals to all of us
because of it's
eclectic range . I'm sure there are plenty of songs that people claim as their
favorite
BFF song (Selfless Cold and Composed here) but that doesn't mean that you close
your
ears to other forms. I remember when I first joined the group I said that I was
also really
into New Radicals and then someone posted something ripping the New Radicals
apart,
well, we need to realize that BFF apeals to each of us in a different manner. As
such, each
of us is going to be coming to this group with a different taste in music even
though we
all love this one group.

In closing, I'd just like to say that nobody needs to see posts like "Simon and
Garfunkel
Suck!!!!"

That's pretty much off topic and impossible to argue either side.

(yes, there are 3 of them)
don't have guitars--just a
piano, a bass and drums.
Live, Ben tickles the ivories
not only with his hands but
also his feet, his head, and
sometimes his stool!
Sounds Like: They've
listened to a lot of '70s
rock radio--and some
Broadway tunes. Pretty
piano songs mixed
with witty slacker odes
(lyrics a la Beck). Funny
and beautiful.

Greetings...
So the news is out about Cake w/ the boys on the 2nd? About time. sadly
Cake is the headliner (at least if you listen to the radio ads, plus the
tickets like them first). Don't get me wrong, I love Cake, but they're not
Ben Folds Five. At any rate, with all this cross subject stuff going on
with Dawson's Freak and whatnot, I was just wondering if anybody else out
there is awaiting the new Star Wars movie almost as much as their next
chance to see BFF? Tox go on sale May 12th if your theater sells advance
tix. I'm not worrying about that--thanks to some connections back home i'll
get to see it Tuesday night around 1 in the morning (I know that's actually
Wednesday).

Anyway, I can't wait to make the trip to St. Louis, Kansas City, and then
Denver. Talk about a bitch of a drive. Oh well, it's more than worth it. If
anybody out there has boots of the new shows, please e-mail me. I'd be
willing to trade other shows or perhaps even 2:1.

Ta-ta.

Ok!

I got the New album, and I love it. I was expecting something different but
from what I read before i heard it. But i think they did a great job on this
album. I like the hospital song and Jane.
Im also starting to like Red Neck Past as well. POWER TO THE FOLDS!
They are the best.

To those of you that are confused about the keyboard like instrument that
Ben uses. Its a "tack piano". Ok so there it is. Look it up.
If you see the pics on their web page you will see an old upright piano.
Thats it. I should know. Ive been playing piano since I was 5 years old.

Yours truly
Jason

I should be in attendence. still waiting to find out if I got tickets or
not, but if so, obviously I'll be going. I'm not a KC person, so I'm
really not sure what's do to down there. esp when I don't know the area
where the Starlight is; BFF will be my first time going there.

Howdy!
I'm sure many of you have already seen this, but I was just browsing through
the official Squirrel Nut Zippers website (another Chapel Hill band), and
found a little blurb about our boys. Three of the members of Squirrel Nut
Zippers were part of the orchestra on the new album, and this is what they
said:

<<BEN FOLDS FIVE: Soon, BF5 will release their amazing third full length
album,"The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner." Tom, Ken and Chris
are featured as members of the BF5 Orchestra, with a lot of other talented
folks. I think it is a masterpiece, and maybe Chapel Hill's Greatest
Album!!!>>

Pretty cool! Just thought I'd share that with y'all.
Love and kisses (especially to the awesome trio!)
