Today I went to my local independent record store to buy an album by a band
called the Hogwaller Ramblers, out of Charlottesville, Va. They're a real
great folky-rock band, you should check them out. Anyway, I checked the
BFF area as usual to see if anything new and unusual was going on
underneath their sign. They had Army singles. Pt. 1 and 2. Pt. 1 has
Army, birds, leather jacket, and air. pt. 2 has army(clean version),
birds, and leather jacket I believe, and has a "made in England" sticker on
it. I'm bad at making decisions so I bought the original impetus for the
trip along with pt. 1. Now I will have no food for the rest of the week.
I have theories about this pt. 1 and 2, but with AP exams in a few days, I
can't bother with thinking. Can someone just explain it to me?

Also, I wanted to say that Lullabye is about the greatest song ever. There
are certain songs that make me want to cry every single time I hear them.
At the top of this list is Evaporated, End of the Tour by TMBG (I just
can't get the car crash scenario out of my head) and Devil's Haircut. The
last one is pretty strange, but when my cat got hit by a car, that's the
first thing I saw on MTV late in the night with my mind reeling. Anyway,
Lullabye is now number one. It's such a fantastically touching song.

Hey kids! BFF is on the list of frequently requested songs on the total
request live website, but I didn't see "Army" on the show today. Please
vote so we can get the boys on! Go to
www.mtv.com/mtv/tubescan/totalrequest2/ or go to www.BenFoldsFive.com and
there's a link. It would be really cool if they were on TRL, because
there's not much quality music on there (in my opinion anyhow).

Matt Pinfield is an idiot when it comes to BFF. Well I was just excited that
they talked for so long and that they showed Army which I hadn't seen and
then the clips of the other videos. -Erin

I saw a bit of 120 Minutes Sunday Night and I was wondering who Army is
written about.... I remember hearing Ben talk about his dad saying the exact
quote to him, Son, you're fucking high, when he mentioned joining the army,
but on 120 Minutes, when Matt asked them, Ben said he wrote it about Darren.
Then Darren started talking about "his" story.. Maybe it was there witty
humor, but that late at nite, I was a bit confused... And I really liked how
Matt tried, REALLY hard to pronounce Caleb's name.. It is hard, isn't it?? I
didn't watch much of it.. Just the first little 'interview' with them... Oh
well, sleep is fun!!

Umm not just yet.

man they rocked :) not that that should be a aurprise to you lot :)>>

No, I actually thought that you broke into a medical supply office and took a
lot of prozac myself.

<<Well anyway-I was in the Gallery

for my final project and what do I see before me in the food court but a
Chic-Fil-A! I've never seen one there before even though I've gone to that
mall at least 20 times in all of my college boredom. I tell you,it was like a
choir of angels had clung to the fake marbled walls that day and a light did
shine upon the beauty that is Chic-Fil-A. >>

I heard a pimp tried to sell Ben some Ho's backstage.

<<Some one posted about wondering what happened to the Ben and Glen
Phillips colaboration, I had never heard anything about this and I was
wondering if any one knows anything about it to post about it. I think
they would be amazing together and their style of songwriting is kind of
the same. Behind Ben I think Glen is my favorite song writer.>>

Yeah I heard that the Semantics were going to reunite too, damn, well I guess
not.

As long as they are still adding dates...C'mon Texas, Seattle whined for
a tour date and they got one, now it's time to standup and get ourselves a
show! So lets start hootin an a hollerin, and bring the band to some good
ol Texas honkytonk, maybe Floore's in Helotes or Cabaret in Bandera!
Yeee-ha! Ok, so anywhere in Texas would be great, Austin, San Antone,
Dallas, Houston...maybe sometime before next fall. We're bigger and
better than the crappy midwest and deserve some rock and roll.

JoeK>>
serious question, was it really the wining of the armchair people that got
the boys to Seattle or maybe its something called planning a tour where you
go all around the country

Better yet, what's with the "showme"? I know, state motto and all, but
still a mite suggestive for the email addresses of a STATE school. I
figured, what with the funding and all, they'd be as morally upright as
possible. And I just know Missouri's founders were sloggin' down the ol'
dandelion wine and saying, "See, they'll think this means something
really inspirational and deep, but we just wanna see us some WIMMEN!"

Nice to see you back, Katie. :)

Nope. Garfunkel is doing really weird things like writing children's
albums and walking across Europe (no lie) and Simon is writing failed
Broadway musicals. And when I say failed, I mean that in the nicest
sense, because "Capeman" didn't deserve to be anywhere near a stage in
the first place. Good lawd that was a bad play.

Hurray for Fountains of Wayne, one of the few bands that can write damn
good pop songs and still manage to keep their dignity. The "Denise"
video is a bit, well, dodgy, but the album is swell. Hey, and although
it's highly irrelevant, Judi, would you happen to be the same Judi Smith
whom Dave Barry is always trying to hook up with Adam Duritz in his
column? For if so, that would be really cool. And rock on, as it were.

And I, too, promise to be an active and resourceful MAer. It is my
solemn oath to you all.

Subject: Matt's mishap

In response to Melissa who wrote about 120 min last night, all I have
to say is that real BFF fans must think alike. I noticed that Ben was a
little pissed too. He kept making little comments to Matt, like "are we
going to be in the NEXT video?" And Darren was just hillarious, although he
wasn't quite as quiet about his frustration with Matt. When Matt said to
check out former albums from BFF like "forever and ever amen" Darren Just
screamed "WE DON'T HAVE ANY ALBUMS NAMED THAT!!!! " very funny stuff, and I
agree that Rob was blasted. He kept making faces at the camera with an
almost evil look and folded his hands like he was an evil warlord or
something. Matt Pinfield needs to brush up on his BFF, they are definitely
one of the bands that should stick out in his music encyclopedia of a mind!

120 minutes last night while channel surfing. I though it was hilarious.
Matt Pinfield kind of deserved the crap they gave him, he didn't know what
the hell he was talking about (i.e. "square reels, forever and ever amen...)
I'm still laughing.
