I give props to any band who can make the All-Knowing Matt Pinfield look like
a jackass. BF5 took the cake last night on 120 Minutes. He definitely got
the jokes though-- later on in the show he mentioned that they were "in a
very playful mood."

The New Radicals just had a middling successful single here in UK. Can't
remember what the song was called but it was pretty good.

Well, either you mean that they have split up, which implies that you must
have
been out of the loop for a while, or you mean that their corporeal "mortal
coils"
have ceased electrochemical activity, which is certainly news to me.

Subject: Wolverhampton Gig

You won't be suprised when I say it was a fantastic gig. Not only were
the boys on top form but every member of the crowd (about 1,000
people. The Wulfrun hall is only a small venue) seemed to be fans and
were well into it, dancing and singing along. They didn't have their
horn section with them so they sang all of those bits which worked
suprisingly well. Bens voice sounded amazing and the harmonies worked
really well.

This is the set list of the top of my head. It roughly went :

Dont Change Your Plans
Battle Of Who Could Care Less
Army
Alice Childress
Magic
Stevens Last Night In Town
 Mess
Your Redneck Past
jane
Hospital Song
Narcolepsy
Philosophy
Fair	(I never thought I'd pogo to this song!)
One Angry Dwarf
Underground (no intro!)

==encore==
Regrets
Song For The Dumped

I was slightly annoyed that they didn't play lullabye which is my
favourite off the new album but I did have fun trying to dance to
regrets! (watch out for those offbeats. Nice) Ben chucked his stool a couple of times but not with any
force. They didn't have the T-shirt I wanted. They only had the album
cover ones so I ended up buying a dodgy tour T-shirt and poster
outside the venue. The poster was only an A2 version of the yellow
single but at least I now have a BF5 poster.

If anyone has a bootleg of the wolverhampton gig or any of the
british tour can you please email me. I have some stuff on video for
trading.

Being from New England, I had no clue what chic-fil-a was. The pronunciation
really stood me for a loop, I thought it was a typo. I was thinking geez,
ben doesn't know how to spell, it is chicken filet. I completely did not get
the line. If I ever go south of Cape Cod, I will look for one.

Subject: KC show / cake confusion

I live in Lawrence, Kansas (a little over an hour from starlite theatre),
and here the concert is being promoted as "Cake and Ben Folds Five"--Cake
is the headliner, but BFF isn't just a half-hour opening band. And the
radio ads for the show play two BFF song clips but no cake. They're
emphasizing the BFF end of it. So I would guess Cake will play last, but
BFF will play for a goodly while.

Starlight, for those of you who don't know, is an outdoor theatre that
holds about 7000 people. I think it'll sell out.

Subject: BEN FOLDS FIVE - Mailing list for Traders

Hey all,
I was reading an email i got from Dustin Moskowitz about new BFF Tapes, and i
thought i would offer up a suggestion - i have just formed a "ben folds five -
bootlegs" mailing list @ www.topica.com ... all you have to do is go & do a
search on BFF and you will find it. Does anyone have a better suggestion as
to where to start a mailing list? anyway, i started it because i want to form
a list specifically for traders (beginners and not-so) - where we can discuss
taping methods, bad traders/good, want lists, etc, etc, etc... I
asked Alan to help me with this.. Is
topica a good place to start a list? If you're interested in being a part of
this, go to: http://www.topica.com , sign up to be a member, and
go do a search on ben folds five. You should come up with three different
choices, mine is "Ben Folds Five - Bootlegs". The whole thing looks pretty
user-friendly, but only time will tell, right? SO - just
wanted to drop you guys a note and letcha know what I'm up to. Please join if
you're interested. Thanks!

Subject: shows, fanclub, free stuff, sax in Jane

Hello everyone,

It's nice to have the internet back again. I was going through major
withdrawl symptoms. When I checked my email, I knew I'd have alot of
Armchairs to read. I had forty-three. My eyes hurt.

I got my tickets for the Charlotte and Raleigh shows. Hee-hee. If anyone is
going to either of these shows, email me.

Does anyone remember last year when someone mentioned that he was starting
an official fanclub and that it would be mentioned in the next album
(TUBORM). I made sure to read to liner notes thoroughly, and found nothing
mentioning a fanclub. I think it's about time BFF had a fanclub.

I went into my local record store the other day and asked if they had any
BFF stuff they didn't want anymore. I was only half serious, but the guy
working there went to the back of the store and returned with three posters,
Truth and Rumors, and a mobile that is happily hanging in my room. Sigh, my
week is much better now.

In one of the recent Armchairs, Dan (i forgot which one) mentioned that
someone was playing a saxophone in the beginning of Jane. I don't think it's
a sax, it sounds more like traffic. Like if you were to sit in an apartment
beside a busy highway.

For any of y'all going to the Koncert For Kosovo, I be in Row D, Section
Robert (meaning i'll be to the side of the stage that Rob plays on).

Subject: Business & crap

Business: A couple of extra copies of the Truth & Rumors Interview cd
have come our way, and we'd be interested in trading. Videos & cd's
only, please. (We got plenty of fine tapes during the last round.)

Crap: Does anyone else find it rather ironic that Sony is doing a
marketing blitz on what I see as a fairly non-commercial album? (BFF are
no Backstreet Boys, THANK GOD!) My current favorites in the Ben Folds
Five stuff category are the post-it notes (a cube of post-its with a
photo of the Fab Five in suits on the side) and the TUBORM guy mobile.
Because it is red, white and black, the mobile would be perfect for
hanging over an infant's crib, however, I shudder at the permanent
psychological damage that might result.

Actually, there should be MORE STUFF! My 8-year-old is a Star Wars
freak, and recently acquired a Jar Jar Binks toothbrush and both the
Ewan McGregor (hmmmm) and Samuel L. Jackson action figures. ("Feel the
force, mother f***er!")
I want a Darren Jessee toothbrush!
I want Ben Folds' face on my knapsack!
Most of all, I want Robert Sledge on my lunchbox!

The possibilities are endless.

Hey all you fellow Fivers! I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that TUBORM
isn't their best cd. I, personally, think that waea is the best one. Anyway,
I was wondering if anyone caught the Before They Were Rock Stars this
weekend, it was very funny, I don't think that Ben has changed to much,
meaning the way he acts on stage, now I think they should do one on Rob and
Darren. Speaking of Darren, : ), I just wanted to mention again how much I
love Darren and how happy I am that he is single, but why does it matter
because of course I can't go out with him! Just dream I guess. Well, I'm done
for now! Hey Lori!

Subject: hidden track

someone said that if you rewound the CD from the beginning, it would
reveal the hidden track, an interview with Reinhold Messner himself. i
have the digi-pak CD, and mine didn't do this. either the person was lying
to fool gullible chumps like myself, or it just doesn't work on the
digipak one. but, attention TMBG fans, this does work with the CD Factory
Showroom, if you start the CD, then rewind it, stop it at about 1:03, and
there is a hidden song at the beginning of the CD. i thought that was
pretty neato, i recently about it and had never heard of a hidden song
like that.
