'morning.
*This post is just a whole heap of unconnected stuff I feel like saying, and I haven't had time to read through about the last 30 MAs, I've only skimmed through, so sorry if I repeat heaps of stuff. I'm warning you now so you can use that little tool over there ----------->
known as a scroll bar if you don't want to know.*

- --Still looking for PETE COOPER. I submitted my site to the webring queue over three months ago and I was meant to get a reply WETHER MY SITE WAS ACCEPTED OR NOT after two weeks. Still waiting, and getting frustrated - and I'm not the only one either. Those of you who have sites on the ring, do you know anything? Please help us out.

- --For the people who have been having MIME problems, my Mum's on a librarian mailing list and someone posted on the topic of turning off MIME - she said that you could find out how to do it at the below site. I haven't been there so I don't know if it's any use but I hope this is a help.
> Configuring Mail Clients to Send Plain ASCII Text by G. Boyd at
> http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/nomime.html

- --I've put some new scans up on my pictures pages (yes that's a plural, there's four pages worth now, woohoo!) from dB, Rip it Up and this month's Massive magazine which has a cool interview with Ben in it. Massive is pink and has Beck on the cover if you're looking for it, I think it may only be for sale in Oz and NZ. On the Interviews page I've put a text transcription of the Aussie bonus disc for anyone who wants to read it. I would put it on here but it's long - about 2100 words altogether. Soon I will put up transcriptions of Ben's two interviews which were on 1999 (on Triple J). So go to my site please (plug plug plug).

- --Wow, I just can't get over how absolutely great TUBORM is! I love every single song on it. Regrets is one of my favourites, it's just so ...cool. DCYP, YRP, Magic and Jane are my other faves but really the whole album is so mindbogglingly great that my mind is still boggling. I don't think I need to say any more.

- --Yes I do. On the whole discussion about how it's a change of style for the band, well it brought to mind this Everclear quote:
"I think you are blind to the fact that the hand you hold is the hand that holds you down".
The guys obviously weren't blind to that and realised that they couldn't continue to become greater while restricting themselves to one style, they had to take that step. Yeah...

- --And as for this:
>BTW, I hope Ben isn't moving to Adelaide, it's a hole.
Well he is, although he's only renting at the mo, and he said he's sad he will be too busy to be here much. And as for Adelaide being a hole... well good things come in small packages and stuff. It's a hole Ben seems to like. Just for that nasty comment I ain't goona tell you who/what Dr. Pyser is! (Big loss to you ;o I know someone else probably already has).

- --And someone mentioned about how there was a lot of ads before BF5 were on the Late show... YES and I am so pissed off. Okay now I feel a ramble coming on.... scroll... I set the video recorder timer because I was too tired to stay up and tape it, and I even added extra time on at the end just in case it went overtime. Then the next day when I sat down to watch the tape, the first 15 MINUTES were taken up by that (insert prolific swearing here) RUGBY Footy Show which was on before TLS and went grossly overtime.
Then the Late Show finally started and David said "after this break we'll be talking to (some famous guy) and we'll have Ben Folds Five in the studio". About eight ad breaks later, BF5 still hadn't been on and that was where the video STOPPED RECORDING. I was, and still am, soooo angry. I swear I will hate that rugby show for the rest of my life. Or until I stop liking BF5. Ha! That's a little joke. Me? Not obsessed by ben folds five? What a funny thought.

- --Anyone know of any Aussie shops who have/are willing to order Spare Reels?

- --People have been mentioning the Whitlams... I'm sure you will all be pleased to know that Ben (Folds) likes em too! (And I quote) "I like the Whitlams, I've got their records and I like to listen to them." That's from this month's Massive magazine.

- --Another Ben quote from Massive which I just have to share:
"I hate to tell people that are popular in school but it's all downhill from here, you should probably kill yourself." Oh, does he ever stop being cool?

- --One, two, three... "Shut up Clare"
- --Okay.

- ---------->Seeyasall later!

"Sometimes I'll look out from the stage and if I see someone doing something really dumb I just think to myself, 'I don't want you in the audience, why don't you go somewhere else...' then I'll look over at Robert and he'll be jumping around the place. I just sent that email as one long line, I hate it when that happens!
I had the preferences set to wrap long lones at 70 characters but
it didn't work! If you have the same browser as I do (Netscape
Communicator 4.08) then go to 'View' and choose "Wrap long
lines" so you don't have to scroll sideways all the time. That
pisses me off so much, I am very sorry! If you know how I can
fix this problem let me know! Thanks. NOW go and read my last

Subject: TUBORM of course

I know that everyone has posted their thoughts on TUBORM, so I'll post mine
too. I just got back to Canada on Saturday night and then Sunday my friend
gave me the slbum for my birthday. Not with the video (which is actually in
Music World in my town! I was surprised) but I was happy. It's been killing
me having to wait to hear this long to hear the album and all of the
promotional stuff that's been going on that doesnt make its way past all the
Backstreet Boys and Britany Spears on Dutch television and radio. Wow that
was quite the run on sentence. Okay, basically what I wanted to say is that
I love it.
It's really strange, but my musical taste has started to lean this way for
the last little bit before I even heard something from the album. I love
them all, but I guess I'd pick out Magic and Jane as favourites. When the
tympanies come in on magic I just melt. It's such a beautiful song.
None of my friends liked BFF before I left, but now I think I've started the
conversion of one of them and my sister to this genius.
I did actually find a fellow fan, strange enough, in an Australian who I
spent koninginnedag (sorry with spelling) with in Amsterdam.

Well, a little more off topic i got a chance to hear some of the triple j
cds and I just have to say I wish I could hear that station. If anyone has
a suggestion on where to find out more about the Whitlams I'd be very happy.
Are there any Canadians out there who have found some of their stuff here?
  Is it possible?

I've strayed enough from any sort of relevant topic, enjoy all the new
things you hear each time you listen to the album. I just keep loving it
more and more....I have to see them live!! come back to Canada!

tot straks
...Becca

Does anyone have one of those little.. notepad promos for reinhold messner
that they might be willing to trade?

i ordered the new jude cd today. hannah gave such high praise of him that i
decided i'd try him out. she also sent me some neat jude stickers. i have an
extra if anyone wants it!

if anyone can help me with directions on where the american theater is in st.
louis, i'd really appreciate it. @ ticketmaster, last time i checked, i got
an error when i clicked the link for directions to the venue..

one last thing to say:
pianogtar - (IMO) needs to be kicked off this list. his posts are rarely on
topic (OR informative, for that matter) and are usually (of late)
inflammatory in nature - they tend to be personal responses which i think are
better suited for private e-mail... and posts ABOUT him have grown to
ridiculous proportions ... (not to mention all the damn french lessons we've
been getting) please frank, get rid of the clutter!

i like to speak french to myself,

the french in this song is:

sorry (see ** below)
i'm american (misspelt - should be "americain" in french)
(please cook my steak again)
i'm american
sorry
i don't speak french

and for the record, ben has just about the worst french pronunciation
ever ;-)

** "desole" is about the closest the french come to saying "sorry",
apart from "je m'excuse" - "excuse me". i reckon it's classic that
french doesn't have a word that directly means sorry! literally, desole
means "desolated". so they are never sorry, they either excuse
themselves or they are desolated. (ok, i'll stop now. sorry for my
random rambling ;-) )

Subject: The whole George thing

I must say that in the past year I have been on this list the only really
interesting or entertaining things to happen are when people squabble. I
remember when the people from The Rockford Files came back for a month and
stirred everything up, and now we have George doing his little MST3K thing
only with The Armchair, and I say let him. I haven't been reading The Magical
Armchair much lately but I must say that as long as George is on here
speaking his mind I will actually read it every day, and if anyone says that
it detracts from the content of the digest I was just wondering how many
times can you see people ask about the Gershwin thing at the beginning of
Philosophy or if Brick is about abortion before you realize that the content
of the armchair usually is repetitive...

Of course theres no hidden track on tuborm, a hidden track is just after a
huge pause at the end of the last song on a CD. For instance, Greenday's
Dookie,(all by myself) and BFF WEA(BFAFAH) . Has anyone else heard of any
other kinds of hidden tracks on other CD's? for instance, in the middle of
the CD?

I've heard it man!!!!
it's called, "you've all been fooled again."
it kinda sounds like the old song by the Who, "won't get fooled again," but
in order to hear it you have to flip over your TUBORM and put your CD player
on reverse. what's that? you dont have a "reverse" setting? oh well, too bad!
 =o)

ok ok ok....i think this nut who says theres a hidden track is probably
confused with the BONUS (not hidden at all) track on TUBORM which would be
"(theme from) Dr. Pyser" which is track 12 on the Australian version. BTW,
it's nice to have a strings version of this finally that isn't an MP3.

also did anyone else notice on the inner liner notes that "Pyser" is printed
as "Psyser"? check it out!
