Finally, a San Francisco concert! Everyone in the Bay Area is probably
overjoyed, except for me. The concert is the night of my graduation
ceremony, and I doubt I'll get up to the city until at least 8:30. So for
all of you that are going to get in line at 3, can you do a fellow chairer a
big favor? Help me out and save me a place, or at least don't scream bloody
murder when I push my way up front to the stage.

But seriously, if you are going, please email me. I'd really like to meet
some armchairites, and it would also rock if you could save me and my friend
some room. I'm sure there'll be a bunch of us there, so we may as well meet
each other while we have the chance. Maybe we can organize some request
screaming or something.

Thanks,
Jon.

I've been hearing from a number of people that BF5 will be coming back
to Philly. Seeing as I couldn't go to *either* show last time (I know,
pity me now), I'm wondering if anyone else has heard anything about it.
Possibly at a radio show for someone other than Y100 (?). That's what
I'm hearing, but I really don't think they'd be playing a radio festival
such as that right now.

Either way, I'm going to drive down to DC if and when that date with
Jude is confirmed...

Subject: 2 BFF Questions

Okay folks, I've been a BFF fan for a while now. I have only had the
extreme
pleasure of seeing them once (last summer's G105 Big Shindig in Raleigh,
NC).
It
was more amazing than I had imagined. I am going to see them
again...soon...as in
Thursday night.

I just had a couple of questions for y'all (and since I drive on Silas
Creek
Parkway nearly everyday, I figure I have that right).

1) What BFF song(s) do you as an individual do you find most personal?
(Meaning
what song(s) do you identify with because you feel the lyrics have
captured
thoughts or feelings that you have had at some point in time?)

2) What BFF song(s) do you find it impossible to sit still through?

I don't know that I can answer these questions myself. The music and
lyrics
that
Ben Folds Five has produced has really brought me to love music more and
more
everyday.

Anyway, before I start rambling, let me say "goodnight, goodnight -- let
the
moonlight take the lid off your dreams."

Okay this is a little off topic, so if you don't want to read it, please
scroll on by...

I know a lot of BFF fans are also hip to the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Well you
may not know this, but the band is being sued by the Southern Style Nuts
company who now own the Squirrel Brand Co. The Zippers named their band
after the Squirrel Brand Peanut company candy "Zippers" and when the owner
of that company got sick, they decided to sue SNZ...and then they sold the
company and the NEW owners carried on the lawsuit.

Worse yet, Mammoth, their label, has dropped legal backing and the Zippers
have to fend for themselves against this nasty company, thus depleting
their small bank account (sorry, they didn't go platinum...) Because of all
the $ they have to spend, recent tours have been cancelled, and plans for a
new album are scrapped until this gets cleared up.

I was told by Ken Mosher (sax, guitar) that due to a few letters written by
fans to drop the charges, the Southern Style Nuts company is beginning to
sway in our favor. Ken asked me to spread the word that more good letters
to the company might work.

If you are a fan of the band, or sympathetic o the plight of these talented
group of people, please write a NICE letter to
customerservice@southernstylenuts.com asking them to drop charges. You can
check out www.snzippers.com for a few more details.

Thanks in advance, and keep on rockin'!

(ps thanks to all who have entered the BFF contest on the shrub. there's a
few more days left to enter!!)

Okay...I'm going to bitch, so if any of you have problems with that scroll
past my message. You have been warned.
Commence bitching: I perfectly understand why BFF will end the tour June 24th
with Ben's kids on the way. No problem with that. Your kids are only born
once. But...they missed out on a lot of huge cities (LIKE DETROIT!) and are
playing Chicago AGAIN! Now, I cannot begin to describe how incredibly
disappointed I am they are passing us up. And then the poor folks in Seattle
who had their show canceled only for Chicago to get another go... well,
that's just not fair. Or should I say, "All is not fair, in tour schedules."

I'm not exactly an expert on the actual business side of pop music, but I've
got something to say. For everyone that has ever written a post that
includes "please come...", although everyone else appreciates the fact that
there are, indeed, BFF fans in the middle of nowhere, these posts do
absolutely no good at all. The band (or their managment) really doesn't
decide where they go. The venues that offer them decent amounts of money are
the ones who decide where they go. So if you really want them to swing by
your town, get a few thousand of your closest friends and tell your nearest
rock'n'roll venue that you would like to see Ben Folds Five rather than
clutter up my mailbox.
Sweney (whose bread someone buttered on both sides today)
P.S. I'm from NE, so don't think I don't know what its like

Hey gang,

I, too, had a fucking wierd experience about BF5. I was listening to
them on real audio last night and flipping channels on TV when I get to vh1,
where they are playing on hard rock live. It was over in a minute, as they
were just coming to a close to their half of the show. I was so pissed. I
was wasting my time on the goddamn internet when i could have been watching
them play live.

Somebody tell me it was a rerun! I know there is a possibility it
was because they ended with song for the dumped, but they do play that song
all the time, even now (thats the only song I'm really sick of, by the way)
The show's name also includes the term "live" though, so i'm thinking it was
new. I dont know. Well I'm really surprised that no one made mention of it
if it was. Why didn't anyone say anything? Well, I believe the rerun on
this show is 11:30 central time on thursday night in case anyone cared. But
does anyone know if it was new?????
Later,

Ben

i have a copy of this neat demo tape

that i'm trading for

(TRADING, not offering B+P for right now, sorry)

there is a list of wants @ my site.

Ben Folds
Demo: Recorded in 1990, Nashville/Greensboro

A
Best Imitation
Kalamazoo
Uncle Walter
Clueless
My Dog
Fair
Burning
Video
Jackson Cannery
Tom & Mary
Half Asleep
Situation

B
Underground
Emaline
Lydian Song
Sports & Wine
Where's Bohemia
I paid my money

ALL versions are different from any other demos i've ever heard except for
the vers. of 'video' - it sounds a lot like the majosha version, but i'm not
sure. There's an awesome answering machine message right before clueless with
a lady going on and on about hers and ben's "oral agreement". Quality is A++,
its good stuff. The tape is just ben folds (No five) and some gospel-esque
women.. "i paid my money" is the same as the FOP Vers. (obviously not the
SAMEsame), with a cute rap at the beginning. great vers. of emaline

like i said, i'm only trading right now. i'll be open to B+P later. S'mother
people also have (are getting v. soon) copies of this tape, and at the risk
of them being harassed by hungry Fivers, i'm going to let them speak for
themselves if they want to trade it..

probably should've kept my mouth shut,
