Hi, fivers!
I'm sure I'm not the first and I won't be the last to comment on the BF5
video that just aired on the ol' MTV. But I'll tell you this: I didn't like
it much. It didn't live up to the amazing song, it was too jerky and too
many jumps, and the wacky sound effects were off-putting. Any continuity
and plot was lost by the poor editing. It's too bad, too, because that
would most likely be the most publicly acceptable song that might rocket
the boys to stardom. Maybe the video was better when people were
exploding...
I also wanted to break the news about the Mr. Wrong soundtrack with the BF5
song on it, but Mr. Clean apparently beat me to it on the ol' 120 minutes
there. I work in a book/record store, and I was browsing the soundtracks
(looking for anything by Elfman or Mothersbaugh) and saw it. I don't have
it yet, but I will soon, I hope...
Oh, yeah. The iguana that appears in the begining credits to 120 minutes?
That's my sister's boyfriends. I'll sign autographs upon request.

Saw the "Underground" Video on 120 Min. tonight. It was fun...and what
was that the host mentioned about a song on the "Mr. Wrong" soundtrack?

I'm a New York writer/musician, and a big fan of Ben and the boys. Thanks for
setting up such a nice Web site for them -- I was glad to discover it on
Yahoo!
Please add me to the mailing list...I look forward to bonding with other
like-minded folk real soon. Thanks
Michael

I'm sure everyone saw the video for Underground last night. No offense
to the band or the fans(I am a huge fan of course), but that video
sucked. The parts with the band were cool, but the cowboy stuff was just
stupid. The video made the band look bad and I'll probably take a few
shots from my friends for liking them so much. The least they could've
done is just tape a live show and make that a video. The one good thing
that comes from this is that MTV probably won't play it in a regular
rotation, so the band won't get popular. I've seen too many great bands
go downhill after MTV gets a hold of them(Smashing Pumpkins, Primus,
Pearl Jam). Better luck next time fellas.
One other note, SONG FOR THE DUMPED will be included
on the MR. WRONG soundtrack. -JRP

Happy to report that I've heard "Underground" on two commercial radio
stations in New Yorks capital region. WQBK "The Edge", and WXLE.
A few days ago I called QBK to request "Underground" for the long
afternoon stuck at work. I ended up having this half hour long
conversation with the afternoon DJ about the band.
We both saw the recent BFF show at Bogies (a local bar) and had a GREAT
time. Needless to say, she played the song !
Side note for Alessa (and anyone that has seen the band in NC) ---
There were about 50 people in the bar. So if you wan't to move to upstae
NY you probably won't have to worry about anyone yelling the lyrics in
your ear. And yes, Ben does have a very nice voice.
If anyone knows how to get on the mailling list (other than signing up
at a show) please let me know. Also www.caroline.com is a really cool
site.
See Ya, Joe.

video though. What was everyones thought on it?

[I see the video is getting mixed reviews. Maybe it's one of those that
will grow on you. I guess time will tell.
Joe, you can write to the band at their postal address: Ben Folds Five,
P. O. Box 1028, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514-1028 and they will put you on
their postal mailing list, send you the lyrics, etc., but it might take a
couple months to get a reply since they're on the road. -fjm]
