 Subject: general BFF stuff

Had a few things on my mind that I had to get out:

 1. Does anyone out there have any live recordings of BFF that they are
interested in trading for. I've got quite an extensive collection of
rare and live recordings of various bands, and I'm sure I've got
something that interests you. If so please email me at
 rkdc@ix.netcom.com

 2. Can anyone give me some info on the German import. I think I read
in the last digest that it is a live import....what is on it? and does
anyone know the catalog number of it?

 3. Has anyone else noticed that your favorite song on the BFF disc
changes about every 10 daze or so. First was Underground, then Uncle
Walter, these days I just can't get enough on Best Imitation.

 4. If anyone out there is going to Mac Fest, there is a band I'd like
to recomend called the Agents of Good Roots. They are out of Richmond,
VA. Thy are more of a jam band than a pop band and really resemble BFF
at all, but they are very funky and write very catchy hooks...very good
musicians (drums, bass, sax, accoustic guitar).

 5. Everyone I know that likes Jellyfish likes BFF when they hear
them....are there any BFF fans out there that just got turned on to
Jellyfish? Do you like Jellyfish too? I'm trying to determine if this
phenomenon works in reverse as well.

 6. Stop busting on the Gin Blossoms - any band that covers the Beatles
"Wait" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert can't be that bad. ;-)

Sorry for the dwindling lack of BFF content.

"Now if its all the same, I've people to entertain"

With all due respect too our leader here, the wonderful Mr. Maynard (after
all he is giving me a free button) there is another appearance scheduled for
the Ben Folds Trio in the DC area.

On August 13 at the Nissan Pavilion in Northern Virginia, the fab three will
be doing opening honors for the lovely Jewel and Whiny Niel Young.

Sorry, Mr. Maynard, but Fairfax County is alot closer to Baltimore than
 Philly.

Keep up the wonderful work of keeping us all informed!!

That was sick. I mean... really sick. But then again... That's GG
 Allin, I suppose...

Uh, Ben Folds is neat! I wonder what his middle name is. (Gotta
 make this post relevant)...

The show in Des Moines was one of the best I have even seen in my life!!
It rocked so bad!! At first the only reason that we were going to go over to
the 2nd stage was to see Ruby, but luckly one of my friends loved the song
Uncle Walter so we just decided to skip the Ramones trying to recapture their
youth and popularity and watch BF5. IT WAS AWESOME!!
I bought the CD the next day and now I'm just pissed that I didn't buy a
shirt there. So if ANYBODY knows ANYWHERE that I can buy a shirt I would be
 absolutely thankful.

                                  Catch y'all later =)

Someone talked about Son Volt and Wilco, and how someone should check
them out. Please do. They both are spin-off bands of Uncle Tupelo (also an
awesome band). If you want more of a harder rock album, go for Wilco, but
for more Uncle Tupelo-countryish sounding music, go for Son Volt. I love all
three bands! And, I saw Wilco July 4th in Chicago-they have a new album out.
Sorry that this is off-topic, but I thought that after every one of
those Jellyfish posts, one post is warranted. :)

 Dear Magical Armchair,

I just got back from vacation in California (I had a great time, thanks
for asking). When i was in LA, I ate dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. The HRC
has it's own cute little newsletter that features who's been stopping by the
various restaurants around the globe. Well, there was a picture of Ben & Co.
at the Maui HRC, with a caption about how they played at both Maui and
Honolulu after their Japanese tour. It also says they "rocked the house" or
 something to that effect.
BTW, Next to my table at the HRC were Elton John's glasses that he wore on
tour in 1973. They said "Elton" in big letters and lit up....coincidence?

 Hi,

Though you probably have discussed this before, does anyone know how I can
get my hands on full arangements for the BFF songs (any of 'em). I'm a
moderate piano player (i.e. not quite a pianist) and can't pick out the
 songs unaided.

If anyone knows what songs are available and who publishes the music, etc.
 I'd be very grateful.

 Cheers,
 Dylan

I feel like a quote out of context, withholding the rest, so I can be for
you what you wanna see. I got the gestures and sounds, got the timin' down.
Its uncanny, yah, you'd think it was me.

[Questions for Ben: As mentioned in the last issue, next week Ben will
be available to answer questions from Magical Armchair subscribers. Think
up some good ones (like the one asked earlier, What's Ben's middle name?)
and submit them to me <maynard@oeonline.com>. Put "Question for Ben" in
the Subject field and e-mail it by noon EDT (1600 UTC) Monday, July 22.
I'll submit them to Ben, and he'll work on them for a couple days and
send them back. The answers will be posted in a special issue of the
 Magical Armchair. -fjm]
