 Wuz up?
I just started to be addicted to the BFF. My favorite radio station
plays the song, Uncle Walter, quite frequently! I love it. But one of
the DJ's decided he liked the part of the song when they talk about
Uncle Walter being President. He decided to start a campaign (fake) to
get Uncle Walter into the White house. All you had to do was make
banners for your car or yard, and if you sent him proof, he would send
you a WBER bumper sticker. After a while a real campaigning dude
(I can't think of the right word...) called up and told the radio
station he wanted equal airtime as Uncle Walter...Cool, huh?

Regarding 'the scene' around Chapel Hill....

I work for a software company in San Diego, CA, and a woman called to order
the software. I took down her address, which was in Chapel Hill, and since
she sounded so friendly, I said, 'Ah! Ben Folds Five!'

She said she loves them, and hasn't seen them around lately, and we chatted
a bit about shows and things, and that she is glad they made it out of
 Chapel Hill, etc.

Anyway, I guess that had no point but to say they do have fans back home who
are wondering where they are.. :)

Also, after sending in that postcard thingy back in January... I finally got
my 'lyrics and stuff' from the band... Well, lyrics anyway.. no stuff
actually... But the mysteries that hadn't been solved by Franks sig are now
 cleared up...
I guess they are back home, eh?

I was at this show, standing right up front & having a blast. During a
break to fix the equipment I began chatting with some folks around me.
Turns out they too were underage and had driven hours for the show.
Initally they were turned away at the door; however, while lurking
around outside they ran into Ben himself! He snuck them in a back door.

I guess the moral of this story is there's always a way into any bar--
you just have to be patient and creative.

 Better luck next time,

 Dave

Subject: Are BF5 playing consistently with Neil Young

Neil Young is doing a lot of shows around NY/NJ in the next month, and I
was wondering iof BF5 is going to be playing at all of them. I called
ticketmaster today and the lady told me that the opening band for Neil Young
was Crazy Horse. (I didn't waste time saying anything rude or explanatory
to this woman who was obviously not in her job due to her abundance of
musical knowledge.) Anyway, aside from his own band, is Neil Young going to
brig ben and the boys around with him?

 peace. -marquis.

[dUUh! BFF are opening at six of them, and the closest to NYC is in
Philadelphia. The complete list is on the web page under Tour Dates.

[Watching The Real World 5 on MTV tonight, I had the thought that they
will probably use a Ben Folds Five song somewhere in the series. It would
have been perfect to use a bit of "Retarded" when Flora was arguing with
her two boyfriends, for instance. How about a contest! I've got some stuff
left over from the list name voting, so starting today, the first person
who identifies a BFF track used in a MTV show will win something groovy.
No fair if you work for MTV. And if you do work for MTV, hey, how come
you're not playing Uncle Walter in the buzz bin? -fjm]
