Subject: BFF gig in Holland
Eighteen hours ago I saw BFF play at Lowlands festival in Holland, Europe. To
desribe it, is almost impossible for me. To say it's the best gig I ever saw,
doesn't seem quite enough to tell how much I liked it.
They played on the smallest stage of the festival and there were maybe only
150 people in the place (it was indoors in a tent). The curtains of the stage
were left open before they played, so I could actually see Ben tuning his
piano in a very precise manner. During the concert I was standing before the
group at a two metres distance. It all was very unreal to me......
Ben started with throwing free beer coins and his festival bracelet to the
public.
They started off with Jackson Cannery. I like the record very much, but it was
amazing to see how well they perform it live. Almost nobody of the audience
seemed to know the songs, but after Jackson... BFF got a huge applause. At the
end of the show, the place was really crowded and the people were very, very
(!) enthusiastic.
Robert seemed to be surprised that at least a few knew the words of the songs.
And what a fantastic voice Robert has; his backing vocals were the most
gorgeous I ever heard.
Other songs they played; Uncle Walter, Where Summer B.? ,Julianne,
Underground, Philosophy and a couple of songs I didn't know; Breaking up song
(?) "I want my money back, you bitch!" and Stephen's last night in town (which
is about Stephen his last night in town, Ben informed us).
The audience yelled and howled for an encore, but unfortunately they didn't
come back. I think BFF have a bunch of new Dutch fans. Justice!
Let's just hope they will be coming back to Europe some time soon. Last night
were one of the most terrific 50 minutes of my life so far (and I'm 25 years
old....).

hi from kc. i went to the jmf last night and as self was tuning their
guitars, i heard a bit of bff. BUT, it went too quickly for me to notice what
song it was. anyway, i thought that was super cool since self is super cool
as well. and also, between bands, they were playing 105.9 (the radio station
who hosted the whole she-bang) and what should they play but underground? i
was singing along of course and i noticed a couple of people around me going
"cool, ben folds five." that's my story. i hope you don't hate it.

It puzzles me, it really does. Why does MTV insist on teasing us with these
little snippets of BF5, but they never play their videos? Today at the Beach
House, Idalis was talking to John, who was over at Muscle Beach, or
something like that, and "Uncle Walter" was playing as mere background music
for this little conversation. Maybe someday MTV will realize how cool BF5 is
and stop playing them as music to fill dead air, highly doubtful though, I
mean MTV playing something worth while..what a new concept..

OK I'm new to the BFF newsletter but I'm lovin it. I've only seen one BF
show and only heard the one CD that contains UNDERGROUND, no rare/live
tracks etc BUT I enjoy not only my taste of the BFF experience but the
personalitites of the fans, as well
SO... the funniest thing happened the other day, I got e-mail from a friend
(fellow fanatic) who I know through an Austin band, Dah-Veed. I always
refrain from mentioning my FAVORITE band/ songwriter DAH-VEED for fear of
sounding like a cultish disciple but...BACK TO THE POINT...this other
DAH-VEED fanatic got my e-dress from THE MAGICAL ARMCHAIR and it got me to
thinkin that there must be some similar appeal of BFF and DAH-VEED..I know
that BF and Davíd (songwriter/frontman-DAH-VEED) share some musical taste
from what I've seen in here.
ANYWAY long story short--maybe some of you BFFF's might enjoy another
breath of fresh air in the musty ole music scene--DAH website:

oh yeah, I'm the Lisa (a.k.a. sila) who works with Dah-Veed so any other DV
fans feel free to drop me a line

I was doing fine. How do you think that I survived the other 25 before you?
