I jsut wanted to say that once again the Ben Folds Five record is getting
played in between opening and main acts of Barenaked Ladies shows...i even
noticed some of the roadies and the Philospher Kings (a great Canadian band)
bopping along to it. But sorry to say there were more people singing when
Annie was being played :)

Hiya! Sorry I'm remiss in responding to your mail. I'm the guy who saw BF5
from the studio audience at the Conan O'Brien show.
You mentioned that on the show, their appearance seemed short, and that
Conan didn't go to meet them after they played "Underground". I'm happy to
say, not true! The show must have just run long and been edited down
afterwards. Conan went over to the band after they sang and spoke with them
for a while during the break. The song itself sounded great in the studio.
(So good that we, having never heard of them before, went right out and
bought the CD after the show!)
Anyhoo, the specific reason I'm finally getting around to responding is that
I think that episode is going to be rerun sometime this week! I saw a promo
mentioning all the guests who are going to be on this week, and John
Turturro from "NYPD Blue" was one of them. Since Conan is on reruns this
week, and Turturrro was one of the guests the night BF5 was on, I figure we
have a winner.
Sorry for the short notice, but I thought you'd like to hear anyway.

"witty quote from the band here"
[The info that I have shows John Turturro on tonight's (Sept. 10)
Conan, but with Colin Quinn as the comedic guest and Keb'Mo as the
musical guest. It also doesn't show as a rerun, so it looks like
Turturro is just on the show again. Thanks for the comments on the show!

Hi,
This is my first post (like anyone cares), and I am sorry if this has been
talked about, or if it's somewhere in an interview with the BF5, but the
other day I was listening to one of my Steely Dan LPs and I couldn't help
to think, hmmm "BF5" I mean it's different styles but It sounds like they
might had been an influence on BF? Maybe? Anyways, sorry to waste
bandwidth...

Well, I did it. I now have a very nice stick piano on my right arm. It's
sitting on a black oval about three inches wide, outlined in white, and
filled in with red. I'm very, very happy with it. It's still appropriate
even when people don't know what the logo is from, since I play keyboards in
a band. I think the image says, "I'm a piano dude. Don't f*** with me!" :-)
So now I'm all ready to write to BF5 and ask if we can open for them when
they come back to Austin. Either they'll be very impressed by my dedication
and give us a chance, or they'll think I'm totally psycho and avoid me like
the plague. I'll let you know whether it's the former or the latter.

Glad somebody was paying attention. :-)

Have I heard of Hammick? We're opening for them tomorrow night! My band's
called King Cheese, 'cause we play really cheesy stuff.

Hi Frank and folks,
First of all, I don't like Counting Crows either. However, it makes sense
to me that they like BFF because I remember the lead singer wore the
Jellyfish t-shirt on their "Mr. Jones" clip. I mean, he (or them) must be a
fan of both.
Zoe, thanks for letting us know the Underground single is on #37.By the
way, Is BBC still playing the Jools Holland's show?

Just a note from Brisbane - I've seen no singles here either, pretty weak.
Mid 60's Kinks - Brilliant. How about Waterloo Sunset as a cover for the band.
Anyway, Ray Davies wrote intelligent (at times) songs with wit, as does young
Ben.
By the way , when did Americans develop a sense of irony?

I'm not sure if this quote is being misinterpreted. My father is the "He"
in the "He said" above, and he was referring to the prevalence of Video
in the lives of generation X, not his own. I am 21, my father is 49.
With the follow-up postings, it seemed like a reader not
following the discussion could be easily confused.

If the BFF show was anything like what I saw at Ziggy's, I'm
sure it was amazing, and whether or not they're from any generation is
irrelevant as long as one can find something in the music to enjoy. This
was not supposed to be a "only certain people can appreciate BFF" thing.

The same episode with the seconds long snipet of Ben will be airing on
Cartoon Network again this week, Wednesday night at 9:30 pm and
Saturday night at midnight (all times eastern). Enjoy.
