i'm from the chapel hill area and i'm just wondering when bff will be
playing in the area again. the second to thelast time i saw them (in
charlotte last winter), ben told me that they were going to stop touring
for a while to record. he also mentioned that they didn't want to play in the
area until they had more new material. thos was obviously before they
decided to do lalapalooza (sp ?) and this european tour.
does anyone know if they will be playing in the raleigh/durham chapel
hill area anytime soon. or are they going to play somewhere in the southeast
soon?

hey everyone,
About that songbook...aarrgghh, you mean it's simplified? <sigh of
disappointment>. Well, wait, i'm sure it still sounds good but i'm just kinda
disappointed because i really want to learn it the way Ben plays it...i've
been trying to figure some songs out and it's so hard to hear so i was just
hoping the book was the same as the cd. oh well.
PS***where can i get that transcription of philosophy!? Thanks.

A novel idea, this voting by listeners! America could learn a few
things from Japan.
That's my two cents.

i have one simple question, probably a stupid one.
i want to get the scorebook from the sony homepage. the
message from bff's manager says it's on the merchandise
page, but I can't find the merchandise. can anyone help
me, or tell me how to get the book?

[The BFF band-run web page is not officially on line yet. When it is in
operation, there will be a merchandise page and you'll be able to order
the scorebook. Stay tuned. -fjm]

Is there any way I could get the complete score, as performed by BFF? I'm
trying to work up a band (I'm a pianist), and I'd love to be able to play
the "real" stuff (Jackson Cannery, and Last Polka particularly). I know
they're gonna be difficult to play, but its worth the work, to me.

ARRGGHH!
I've been trying to find this version of Philosophy for over a year.
Someone emailed me that they had it, so I sent them my mail address, but I
never got the score. (No letter-bombs either, though. Who says the net
isn't safe?)
If anyone else has it, I'd be very, very happy to hear from you.
TTFN!

I am going to see the BFF at Sheffield Leadmill on the 23rd (if of
course I can get through the ridiculous 'queue on the door for
tickets' rigmarole) and I just wondered, have they introduced any new
songs to the set list that will excite and delight me?

Hi there, I've only been getting the mailing list for the last five/six
issues and already I've got some questions: 1) People keep mentioning
t-shirts and where to get them, but none of the shops are near me, or even
in my country (England). Is there anyone out there in or near York that
knows where to get any BFF t-shirts from? 2) When are the BFF touring
England again properly, with dates more spread around the country? 3) Any
Christmas singles coming out over here from BFF? I think that's it, I
would be grateful if someone can answer my questions. Oh, just one final
one, I am a big fan of Barenaked Ladies, but haven't been able to get onto
their mailing list. Any ideas (I might not have the right e-mail address).
That really is it then, so from the cold, wet University of York, England,

Hi Everybody!
I was just wondering if anyone out there has had the guts to try to
make some BF5 MIDI files. If anyone has any or knows if there are any
please let me know. Maybe after I get my songbook, whenever that is,
I'll see if I might be able to whip some up, if anyone's intersted.
Love on ya, Daniel.

Subject: Dreaming is free
I've dreamed about meeting or playing with Ben or the whole Ben Folds Five
several times now (I think even exceeding the number of similar dreams
involving any number of the Beatles), but last night was the first time I
dreamed about meeting Billy Joel, which I blame on all the recent discussion
on the list about him. I was about to show Mr. Joel my BF5 stick piano
tattoo, but then somebody else came up and started talking to him. There was
a piano nearby, and I was going to ask him if he would show me how to play
that difficult rapid-fire bit on "Angry Young Man".
Speaking of keyboard players (if that's close enough to being on-topic), Joan
Jett played in town on Sunday and she and her band came to Emo's afterward
(where my band was playing), and her keyboard player asked to sit in with us.
Also, the bottom of our set list now reads, "I loved the show! Keep
rockin'. Love, Joan Jett." Let's see, the keyboard I played in the show was
autographed by Ben -- does that make this on-topic?
By the way, having an instrument autographed by Ben is a blessing and a
curse. I've been thinking of upgrading to a newer keyboard, but I can't sell
my existing keyboard to defray the cost -- with the autograph, it's
priceless! How could I let it go? And even if I had the cash to buy another
keyboard without selling my existing one, my new keyboard wouldn't have that
signature staring me in the face at shows to give me inspiration. Man, this
keyboard is turning out to be a real monkey's paw...

Dir everyone,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Katsuhito ISHIMORI,
an office worker of Japanese telephone company. This is first contribution
to THE MAGICAL ARMCHAIR. I have just known the band three month ago.
I really like the music. I am not sure but the music and some films were used
in Japanese drama. If I have more information, I will send E-mail to the
mailing group.
Best regards.
