OK, I call on all Australians, especially Sydney people, to write Drum
Media and tell them how much a pack of umm... yeah... they really are, coz
they had a big artical on how they had squared the deal with BFF management
and ever since then they have been advertising in that little section at the
back that BFF were infact doing the Sydney BDO on the 27th of January.
Chrissy Day is my day for doing this... But, then again, by the time you
all receive this, it'll be after the 25th... Hmm... Hope you all got heaps
of pressies from the big fat red dude... Hope you have a drink for me on NYE...
Bye,

I'm sorry, but your wrong. I know the gay guy who said we should boycott
BBF is over reactive, but just because he listens to TMBG doesn't mean
that ALL people like that listen to them. I myself have been a faithfull
TMBG listener for ten years, and I'm a heterosexual. I do DO agree with
you in saying that the clown was too damn defensive. Lighten up man,
TMBG are the ambassadors of love, and BBF are the COOLEST DAMN GUYS
I knew there would be at least one person who didn't get it. Can you say "IN
JOKE"?
"Lighten up man."

> Pianos are not like clothes. You make different-sized clothes for
different-sized people but pianos are all the same size so that if you
play one you can play them all. It would be pretty useless to learn to
play piano on one with small keys and then go to a recital where it was a
piano with bigger keys.
So what's the point of being able to play anywhere, at any time, if you CAN'T
PLAY AT ALL because your hands are too small? Pianos SHOULD be like clothes.
One-sized piano doesn't fit everybody, so it's ridiculous that they're all
the same size. Now that we've hit the digital age, and you can get 76-key
keyboards for less than $500, someone with small hands who wants to learn to
play needs to be able to buy a smaller-key keyboard. Sure, you can think of
any number of situations where you learn on one keyboard and then find a
keyboard that's the "wrong size" -- all I can say is, you don't invalidate an
idea just because it doesn't work 100% of the time. That's kind of like
saying, "Gee, I could reduce pollution by driving less, but I can't stop
driving completely, so I might as well not even bother driving less."
This also reminds me about how everyone told me I shouldn't learn the Dvorak
typing keyboard because most keyboards are Qwerty. Yeah, like I would
sacrifice my ability to type 100 words a minute without carpal tunnel
syndrome just so I could type inefficiently on any keyboard in the world at
any time.

I picked up the new MOJO (a British magazine, I think) at Virgin Records
yesterday. One of the feature articles was many British (and American)
singers telling about their favorite records of the year. There was a picture
of Ben and he said that his favorite was The Cardigans (which are a Swedish
band). He also mentioned that he has been "on a steady diet of Cannibal
Corpse and Bolthrower". Matt Lucas (I'm not sure who that is) said that Ben
Folds Five is his favorite of the year and his fave track is "Philosophy".
The album itself was rated the Number 11 album of 1996. . .

I've seen Ben Folds on 12o minutes about a year or two ago, when
Underground premiered. I liked their happiness with negative subject matter,
so I bought the cd a few weeks later after a lot of searching for it..I live
in Ct., and never hear or see anything about Ben Folds. I'd really like to
see them and get some of those demos and singles, but i've got very little
cash and no stores sell them around here..
I'd like to join the mailing list and stuff though...

Megan and Brian,
Oh, yeah -- Francis Dunnery. Heard of him. Like Ben, he writes some really
witty, crafty and poignant stuff. Used to be a member of a hard(er) rock
band called "It Bites". Absolutely agree... well, about Francis. Which may
be better than you'd get from a helluva lot of other people "'round here". I
used to like Counting Crows, too, until they finally heard those
Replacements albums I bought back in the mid-eighties. Eight shades of
well-worded whining was actually nostalgic and nice. Now, I'm not so sure...
Congrats to Ben on his matrimonial endeavors. Hope he's more successful than
most.

Hi,
Sorry to bring up the topic of BFF T-shirts again, but I was wondering if
anyone knows where I can find one of the "I was never cool in school"
shirts. I looked at CD-NOW, but they only list the "Just say rock" one (at
least, last time I looked). However, I was never cool in school and I'm a
piano geek, so I'm sorta attached to the first one.
Just asking . . .
TTFN!

Hello all, this if my first post to the MA. I was just wondering if the
idea of making a Ben Folds Five news group has ever been discussed? No
offense to the MA and Frank, because I think it's great and the best mailing
list I belong to, but newsgroups are very easy to use and it would save
Frank tons of time (I dont know if Frank really minds). Anyways, just an
idea... Oh yeah, check out my new BFF web page:

[I have thought about a newsgroup. In fact, there is a critical mass
of list members (nearly 1000) that we could probably get a newsgroup in
the "rec.music" heirarchy instead of having to go into alt. If anyone
wants to start one, feel free! There are those who prefer mailing lists,
however, because they tend to be more free of spam and heavier on actual
on-topic content, especially moderated lists like this one. The other
factor is that some people don't have very good usenet access, whereas
almost everyone's e-mail is pretty good. -fjm]

nickle super slinky strings on his bass. ok then maybe you can.
you can get it from me at this address: 93 Shortheath Road, Farnham,
Surrey, GU9 8RZ ENGLAND and if you live abroad then send a 3 or 4 IRC's
to cover the cost. cheers. oh yeah, the zine is called five fold. nice
pun eh? oh. ok then it's s*** but i bet you couldn't do better! if you
have a fanzine then tell me cos i think i'm the only one, but if im not
