Hi,
I saw that someone asked if BFF was coming to Philly. They aren't
playing in Philly, but HORDE will be at the Blockbuster Entertainment
Center in Camden, NJ at the end of this month. I'm really hoping they
headline in Philly again. I saw the show at the TLA on 4/30 and it was
AMAZING!!!!

All those quirky bands together for one hell of a quirky fan! Oh Yeah.

Hey all you crazy people!! :)
01... >Anyone care to hazard a guess as to what it is about BFF that elicits

I ever-so-much agree w/ Josh! I mean, it's really true that there aren't many
(in fact, maybe the one or two) bands that include the real baby-grand! I
think that's what definitely brought me to them! Also, I think that BFF's
lyrics hit a certain wavelength with people. Being the dwarf-like person I am
("petite" as I like to say), I could totally relate to One Angry...! There's
this really annoying girl whom I know and she's so much like Steven (of SLNiT
fame!)!! Those lyrics actually connect with you.
02... The Bands I'd want BFF to play w/...
~ Dave Matthews Band -- the sounds are completely different, but I think
it'd be awesome to see my two favorite bands on the same stage together!
~ Shannon Worrell -- she has really powerful lyrics, and she could add some
awesome guitar stuff!
~ Ani DiFranco -- just `cause I'd love her!
03... Well, that's all from the Melissa-side! :) See y`all in the posts!

Hey!
This is the first time I have posted, but I have been on the list for a while
now. I go to school in Washington, DC and I was wondering if anyone knew if
the band was gonna be playing around there when they do their tour after
Australia. I am at home in Detroit for the summer, and unfortunately, I
missed HORDE. I am officially obsessed with the band, and I NEED to see them.
THANKS!

So if I had to pick three bands to play with BF5, (hard restraining
myself to only three) I'd love to see them with Weezer, Zumpano (a very
cool, very pop-y obscure band from Vancouver Canada) and Matthew Sweet.
I think they all share a similar musical sensibility, and it would make
a great show. I agree that TMBG and Morphine get the Hon. mention. I've
seen them both live, and they were great. But I'd also love to see Royal
Crown Revue and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy if you brought in Brian Setzer to
bridge the gap.

Hello BFF-ers!
I seemed to have missed digest 432 somehow. If somebody still has it in
their inbox I would appreciate it if you could send it. But as I only want
ONE copy and not 5000, I would also appreciate it if only those with the
last initial "B" to send it, that should help reduce the numbers.
Thank-you so much

my dream would be to see them play with BNL, but i would also enjoy
seeing them with weezer and maybe 311. basically i think they would be
entertaining shows. (then again, anyone who has seen a BNL show knows
the true meaning of an "entertaining show.")

I read in a European magazine (I learned to read German when my parents
were stationed there) that Mark Sandman IS Darren's father.
Really.
I thought it was crap until I met both of them in Detroit at the HORDE
show. Mark put his arm around Darren just after BFF came off stage. It
was OBVIOUS to all around that they were father & son. After they
parted, Mark walked past me and, noticing that I had been watching them,
said "Hey, proud papa."
Just wanted to set the record straight.

Well, i went to this show with a fellow armchairian Dan Haugan...
He's on vacation now... anyway, we met one of you there, fyi: i was the
one who didn't talk.
Couple things about the show... The male violinist was having some
problems with his mike, and every time he leaned forward, it caused great
feedback and utter annoyance to this man. Also, the dj for the show was a
poo poo head...
Real stupid like. Said something about, 'Ben Folds Five is traveling with
his breast quintet,' and the people in the orchestra were not very happy
about this...
anyway, the show was great. LOTS of drunk guys running around and
screaming naughties at the dark haired violinist... she wasn't impressed.
Also, when the orchestra was tuning up, the cellist was out there alone,
and primus was playing... anyway, she was playing along on her cello...
(i think it was a cello...)

Come on up, Ya'll, to Seattle's annual Bumbershoot Festival over the four-day Labor
Day weekend.
Last year's was really cool! There were about 60 bands over the four day weekend,
Fri-Mon, and it all cost only $36 bucks for all four days! I saw Crash Test Dummies,
Indigo Girls, Blue Rodeo, Southern Culture on the Skids, Reverend Horton Heat, Tiny
Tim (bless his soul-what a tragic loss) and the Presidents, just to name a few. The
best thing about Bumbershoot, you can come and go as you please all day long with a
stamp & ticket!
I heard Sheryl Crowe and Beck are playing this year, but haven't heard anything else.
Too bad BF5 won't be there....unless we can convince them otherwise!

PS: I'll bet Ben is laughing his head off about all the Helmet letters! You guys are an
extremely creative audience.

Well, either it's the sumbliminal messages in the music, the fact
that Robert sold his soul to get that damned good, or just the simple,
minor fact that THEY KICK JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER BANDS' ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, the music industry has gotten to a point where people can put
any kind of crap on the air just because the band looks cute *coughcough
BUSHcoughcough* and very little true artistic talent is needed. We have
found a band that doesn't just play the same four chords over and over
*coughcoughOASIScoughcough* and puts an effort into being a really cool
band. Why ask why, I say. They rock, end of story. Laters!

so i'm driving along flipping through the stations, hearing nothing but Oasis
and Bush.
and just as i'm about to give up on the radio what do I hear but..."and this
is steven's last night in town by Ben Folds Five"!! and, get this, it wasn't
even on a rock station...it was NPR!!! so i take it all back, those bad
things i've thought about Kansas radio, i was wrong. geez, i'm going to miss
hearing the boys on the radio when i leave for the less enlightened state of
Indiana...oh well guess i'll just have to rely on my personally autographed
CDs.

Here is a little tidbit which probably doesnt interest anyone, but Ill
share anyways. See, I always listened to BFF with my girlfriend, and blah
blah blah, they were great and all, but now that she has dumped me, most of
the songs hold new meanings for me, I.E "Song For The Dumped"(How
appropriate) and "Selfless Cold and Composed". Thought I would share.
