The BFF version of the Flaming Lips' "She Don't Use Jelly" will be on
the Lounge-A-Palooza compilation... that's all I know about that album
though... I bet the majority of people on this list have heard this
version if they've gone to a BFF show. I have a live version of this
song on MP3, (from a Tokyo show this past Spring)... It'll be up on the
BFF site at http://www.underworld.net/bff in the next week or so.
(*sigh* yes, we're still having "fun" with our new server...)

While at HORDE in Pittsburgh, I noticed at least a few people
with semi(?)professional taping equipment in the audience. Was anyone
able to get any decent or better quality recordings of BF5 or Soul
Coughing on this tour? Please let me know. I have some stuff to trade or
maybe a 2:1 deal or something. Plese let me know.

Subject: Just Some Thoughts...
Hello,
I would like to sort of think aloud on a few issues to all of you.
About the names for us Armchair-Cult members, I really like the "Helmet
Heads" reference made earlier...sort of a tie in with the "Dead Heads"
and what not, while at the same time tying in with the lyrics from
Philosophy (...but you were laughing at my helmet head...).
My other thought is this...why must some of you guys make such a big
deal about the whole pot smoking issue? You treat it as if it were some
new epidemic in the music industry. For god sakes, musicians have been
doing drugs for longer than most of us have been alive...and I can
assure you that they didn't stop with pot smoking. I could go on and on
(i.e. John Coltrane and his substantial heroin addiction) but I won't.
Come on people...what those guys do in their own PERSONAL social lives
is up to them and ONLY them. I am finished...thanks for listening.

Hey all!
i've been gone for a while, so do pardon if this has already been
said, but our boys are in the sept issue of YM. (that's a teen
magazine here in the states that probably causes 95% of the anorexia
probs here, as well as 50% of the make-up sales, for our foreign
friends) no, no, i swear i don't read the thing, i was just flipping
through it in the check out line (really!) and saw a little section
about bands with odd names, and they were one of them. even got a
little pic, too. very odd.
on the pot thing- i'm not sure exactly what the debate is (see above
reason), but when i was at the concert in central park, some guy came
up to ben and asked if he wanted to go smoke pot with him and his
friends after the show, and ben declined, mumbling something about
security and stuff. frrraaaankkk, just tell us! c'mon! no teasing!
and sorry this is off subject, but i *really* need some help, and i
know bff attracts a wide range of listeners. i'm doing a report on
african influences on american jazz, and i'm having a really hard
time finding info. if anyone thinks they could help, i would very
much appreciate it. anyways, thanks for reading!

Hey there you crazy crazy kids.
This sounds like nothing more than another advert for my BFF Page but on my
Forum we have a HUGE debate as to the meaning of Brick. I've never seen so
much discussion outside the chair on one subject. I don't want to spoil it
but the emphasis is that Brick is about an abortion.
Anyway, check out the arguments at

Okay, just so I don't start a jyhad against the newbie, you have
to take into account that he doesn't know about the little holy war we
fought over what Brick is about. ;) We've decided (just so there is no
more confusion) that the song IS about a girl going to get an abortion.
That is all! Also, I like Helmet Heads for a nickname. Good looking out,
Marcus!

For those of you who were interested in Ben Fold's wife, she wrothe an
article for Cake magazine about life with her husband. Here is an excerpt
from the story:
"They say the first year of marriage is the hardest, and I believe it.
Imagine: you've been going out for six month's, you've never been together
for more than ten days (usually more like three or four) at a time.
Then-bam!-you're scheduling a wedding to coincide with the only month he'll
have free all year, you're staying together at you parents while every day
he's Fed-exed re-masters and re-edits of his major label debut, which he's
convinced at the time sucks sucks sucks, you have a beautiful wedding, you
honeymoon in your parents' guest room (they're still at home) because travel
is the last thing you want to do, and then he's gone for a month to Japan and
Europe for a press tour, and you're staying with friends in L.A. Huh?"

Well..I have no idea what issue number it was, it was the one with the
posting about Kate's article in Kate. I just wanted to say that her article
was so sweet and cute! Ben is a lucky man. And as for the pot smoking
issue...Frank, how can you tease us?! Evil man :) I was gonna say something
else..but I've quite forgotten. Umm...oh yes. I bought that Launch cd-rom
yesterday at Barnes and Nobles..I did a little dance of joy by the magazine
section. I watched it and it was amazing quite frankly. OH YEAH! Now I
remember what I was going to say, well, I mean, the preceding comment about
Launch was eventually going to be said, but that's not what I wanted to
really say..which is: Frank, how do you get all your lovely information?
You're omnipotent.

Hi y'all,
I have a Visa card where they do one of those reward programs where if you
earn enough points, you can get stuff like books and CDs.
They just sent a list of the CDs you could order, and Ben Folds Five's
Whatever and Amen was at the top of the list (Catalog #S67762BK)! Granted,
the list is alphabetical, and BFF is above Michael Bolton's Timeless (the
Classics) and Bolton's greatest hits compilation.
Of course, I would have to basically buy a vacation home in Maui before I
earn the 10,000 points required to order the CD, but hey, anytime I see BFF
somewhere, it's a happy day.
Bye,
Cynthia

personal details about yourself and your favorite BFF songs/lines and how
you first heard them. If you like you can send me a photo through the mail(
I'll send anyone my address who wants it) and I'll post it for you (if you
don't have access to a scanner)
I've also updated the MP3 page. I've now got "Hava Nagila" and "For all the

I don't mean to offend anyone who is really anti-drug here, but I don't
really see what's the big deal with Ben smoking pot. If he does it, it's
his choice, and it obviously hasn't made his music any worse. There are a
lot of great musicians out there on drugs worse than marijuana, so I think
all the concern about a little bit of pot use is unneccessary. But that's
just my opinion on it.
