I think the idea of a Christmas album is great. I have a Beach Boys
Christmas album and it is one of my all time favorites by them. Keep in
mind though that there is a jewish influence in Ben Folds so maybe they
wouldn't want to do it. There was a question about finding the singles in
America and I have had a pretty easy time finding them at local
independent record stores. I don't think the big chains carry them. Best
Buy has had some. Otherwise I would suggest getting a copy of a magazine
called Goldmine and ordering from one of the many stores in there. Most
of them list some of what they carry so you'll know who'll have the
goods. Lots of love. Waiting for sessions.
Miss Da and Heather H. are great people. joe

First off, let me say that I begrudingly have to respect your
position on drug use. I mean, it is a problem on the streets of America
today, and America's youth are just stupid enough to go out and do
something just because an artist who has never met them in their brief
lives tell them to. My big thing is the main problem with drugs today is
that the people who are controlling hte influx of drugs are the ones who
are setting the prices. I mean, if you took alcohol, argualbly the most
dangerous drug out there and the ONLY drug that in severe cases withdrawl
can KILL, and told Anhieser Busch and all the rest of them that they could
set their own prices without fear of taxation, people would be shooting
each other over beer. I know it sounds stupid, but it would happen. I
should know, I live in a college town. ;) Anyway, the point blank facts
are these: 1) There will always be people who seek recreation/refuge in an
altered state of conciousness. 2) There is no wya we can stop people from
getting the means to do so if they are desperate enough. Yes, this does
mean I support the legalization of drugs, but I don't mean we should have
it handed out in elementary school cafeterias. I just say the only way you
can trully stop drug-related crimes is to control the product itself.
That's my 4 cents. Laters!

Subject: Hello etc.
I've been on the Magical Armchair for about a week now and I just
wanted to say "hi" to everyone. I've been a fan of BFF for approx two
years, and have seen them live once (opening for Counting Crows at Irvine
Meadows). I'm looking forward to their stop around October in L.A.,
hopefully at someplace cozy like the Troubadour, Roxy, or Whiskey. There's
a few things I wanted to cover-
* Does anybody in Southern California get the MuchUSA cable
network? I would love to get a copy of the "Break This" with BFF and That
Dog. I live in Anaheim and I'm sure I can arrange an equal trade for anyone
willing to videotape the show. Obviously I want to have the BFF footage,
but That Dog is also among my faves. I highly recommend them to anyone out
there who hasn't heard them yet.
* Another question for those in the L.A. area - Who still misses
the beloved KSCA 101.9? If it wasn't for them playing "Where's Summer B?"
way back when, I may never have heard of BFF until the recent mild success
of "Battle of...". My real question, though, is if anybody knows of any
plans to bring another station of the same format back to L.A.? KLSX on the
weekends is similar, but that's not enough for me.
* This may seem insignificant, but I'm not sure if the members of
the Armchair should be called "Helmet Heads," considering that the group
Helmet also has relative popularity (another group I recommend although they
are quite different form BFF). I can attest how aggravating mistaken fan
identity can be, considering I'm also a fan of the group Rush. It's
tiresome always having to expalain "No, not the radio guy, the group!"
Any responses can be sent privately. If you live near L.A./O.C. and
want to meet for lunch or something and discuss music in general at length
(one of my favorite things in the world to do), write to me, also. Sorry
for the length. Keep up the good work, everyone!

P.S. In the disk changer (I love reading everybody else's)
1) Komeda - "The Genius of Komeda"
2) Soul Coughing - "Ruby Vroom"
3) Elvis Costello - "King of America"
4) Frosted - "Cold"
5) Gus Gus - "Polydistortion"
6) Rolling Stones - "Exile on Main St."

To BFF fans,
Robert Sledge was spotted in Chapel Hill, NC last week at the concert
of his good friends The Gladhands. If you don't know yet, Robert played The
Gladhands new album LA DI DA. If you're a BFF or a Jellyfish fan and don't
have this album, GET IT! There's stuff about The Gladhands and Robert on their
web page, www.gladhands.com .
Sincerely,
Brian Williams
