hi,
I would just like to get my two cents in about weezer. Yes...
I agree their first albu, was more popular...but as for a "stylistic
change" they didn't really have one. Weezer music is weezer
music on both albums...its...Weezerish.... ya know?

its the same as Ben Folds Five being Ben Folds Fivish...

Oh no, i could see this coming...

I've got very strong feelings on the abortion issue. However, i've got
even stronger feelings that people are FAR TOO IDEOLOGICAL about this,
and that people on opposite sides of the question spend far too much
time yelling at each other about it, and far too little time discussing
it. It's much easier to demonize those who disagree with you as either
a baby-killer or a woman-hater, depending which side you're on, than it
is to listen thoughtfully to what others have to say, and then disagree
respectfully if absolutely necessary. We'd get a whole lot farther on
this if everybody was actually commited to loving both women and babies
(and men too, while we're at it), rather than venting their spleens at
them.

What i'm trying to say, dear Pluvius (and anybody else who may feel the
urge to post on this issue), is, for goodness' sake, KEEP THIS DISPUTE
OFF THE ARMCHAIR!!!!!!! Now i'd like to get back to reading about BEN
FOLDS FIVE!

Jerry

Hell yeah! As a matter of fact...

I was leafing through my friend's CMJ one day a while back, and i saw a
little piece on BFF (who i hadn't heard of at the time). Under the
"RIYL:" line ("Recommended If You Like:", an extremely helpful feature
in CMJ which has turned me on to enough great bands to bust my bank
account) was listed Joe Jackson. Having grown up listening to Joe
Jackson (courtesy of my older New-Wave-lovin' brother), i immediately
demanded my friend let me listen to the disc that accompanied the
magazine. The song was Battle of Who Could Care Less, and needless to
say, i was hooked.

Hi there, this is my first post, although I've been trying to read all of
these for the past month or so (since BFF Sydney shows). Someone asked
about the lyric in Counting Crows "got Ben Folds on my radio" I think it
is. Its in the song "Monkey" which is on their second album "Recovering
the Satelites".

When are BFF coming back to Australia? We need more. I also need sheet
music for piano. It seems bloody hard to get hold of here, and as someone
wrote earlier in the week, is out of stock through the net. Anyone have
any ideas?

Just wondering what times your guys will be getting to the Lakewood Civic
Auditorium, and if anyone has any ideas when the doors will be opening. I
would like to be as close to the very front as possible, and I've never
been to this particular venue before. I'll probably wear my purple-ish REM
tee, in honor of drummer Bill Berry, who left the band today.:/

Dear everyone....
A happy Halloween to you all, and all of you that are enjoying the
Chicago show as I type, I am SOOOO jealous. Studies keep my loser self here
in Springfield, IL. Anyways, aol was pretty fucked up yesterday, and I never
received Armchairs 572 and 573, and I also never got 555. If someone could
forward them to me it would me much appreciated.
Also....A couple of months ago, I posted the tip about ordering BFF
singles from Siren Disc. I have yet to get them. I'm rather diasappointed.
They've already cashed my check, but I have no CD's. So I'm sorry if you
took my advice. I'm pretty disappointed.
And not that anyone cares, but I finally found a copy of
Lounge-A-Palooza here in dullsville, and She Don't Use Jelly is great! The
rest of the CD basically sucks, but BFF saves it. Hope you are all having
fun seeing the boys, while I sit here at home and dream.

Being a brand new subscriber to the armchair (I've only read two
issues) it sure seems like a lot of Ben Folds Five fans also like Weezer
too (myself included). This might seem like a dumb question but I would
like to know if anyone knows when Ben Folds Five is coming up to Canada.
Thanx

Hello everyone!!!!! I have been on the armchair for many months now, but
have only been observing.... so this is my first time writing.

I just have to say that I JUST got home from my second show (Chicago) and it
was AMAZING!!!!! They were so wonderful!!!! I was so excited. I didnt
get a song list, as I was too busy screaming and practically crying to bother
writing it down. But, I accume someone did get it, and will probably write it
and all the other details of the show. So, I will keep my story short, and
just say that I REALLY loved the show.

Also, If someone (and I know you guys are out there) taped the Chicago show
tonight, could you PLEASE contact me!!! I really would love a copy of the
show and I hope we can work something out.

I wanna be a disco diva!!!

Hey,
Someone mentioned "It's Not Easy Being Green" as a possible cover.
Didn't Darren say that that would be the song he would want played at
his funeral? :)

Take care.

Hey,
I've looked on EVERY BFF page I could find, and STILL cannot find the
lyrics for "Song for the Dumped" in Japanese. If anyone has them and can
send them to hernandezl@citadel.edu in romanji, I'd be eternally grateful.
I suspect that the lyrics are on the Japanese site, but I live in America,
which doesn't take too well to hiragana and katakana. :) Love to all.

Hi everyone:
I am a new subscriber to the Armchair. I will get straight to the
point. I know of no one else in my personal life who has even heard of
BFF, and of course it drives me crazy that I just can't go off on my
friends and have a great discussion about them...they just tend to look
at me as if I missed medication time. I just want to say that this
mailing list is a great source of information and varying opinions and
that I think I am the only Alaskan who has even heard of them. I am glad
you are all out there and that I am wasting my raving on my other
friends...It must sink in eventually!. Are there any other Alaskans out
there on the mailing list? Let me know. Thanks for listening and may all
your bootlegs sound studio fresh...

Hi, all!

Just a quick note to let you know that I heard a little nugget from the
'70s last night by Cashman and West called "American City Suite." When I
heard it, I stated that it sounded like Ben Folds and my girlfriend said
that she thought it was. Check it out if you ever come across it.

Subject: BFF on Sessions

I'm not sure if this has been posted in the past, I haven't noticed
since I joined the Armchair. For those of you that watch PBS (and
those that don't, as well) be sure to check out the show "Sessions at
54th Street" of 11/8 (next Saturday). BFF will be performing some
live tunes (the performance is taped, however). Sadly, we'll have to
suffer through a half hour of the over-hyped Beck before we get to
the good stuff, but I guess that is the price that must be paid. You
would be wise to check your local TV listings to ensure that the show
you will be seeing is in fact the show featuring BFF and Beck (ugh!).
In typical PBS fashion, not every PBS station around the country
shows the same show at the same time; some stations may have the show
as scheduled, but it might be 2 or 3 weeks before other stations get
around to showing that program. Anyway, it should be good exposure
for the guys, and I'm sure it will be a great performance. Later!

Ken McKenna

Alright, here it is. First Armchair folks, I NEED YOUR HELP. I am a =
graduate student who did my undergrad at UNC CH (thus sprouted my BFF =
interest). Since, I have tried to infect the grad students in my =
current program (App State U) with an interest in BFF, and have =
succeeded in converting a couple. Anyway, we planned to go to the =
Chapel Hill show but one of the guys has to teach a lab that night. He =
could easily get some other qualified person to teach it, but he says "I =
wouldn't feel right about skipping out on my students to go have fun". =
I bought him a ticket anyway, but he still says he won't go.=20

Help me to convince him to go. His name is Ben, he's a really cool guy, =
and his e-mail is jh13822@appstate.edu=20
Please send him a message and tell him that he needs to go and to stop =
being a weenie (just please don't be mean to the poor guy and piss him =
off).

Thanks in advance for the help guys.
