"Dick Holster" (brilliant name by the by) is an instrumental rag-time
number. The boys played it on Thursday before "Underground" at the Supper
Club if anyone was wondering. I have no clue as to what the Stiff Johnson
sessions were/are yet the prevailing opinion is that they are a joke. Sorry
for anyone thinking it was some other song in disguise, it is quite good
though. Ethan

okay, we've all thought about what songs and bands we'd like to hear the
boys cover.
BUT, what about the other way around? what bands would you like to see
cover a bff song? and which song would it be?
personally, i'd like to see radiohead cover a bff song. something
serious, though, as rh are quite the serious band. smoke, i think. it
would be amazing to see jonny (greenwood, guitarist/keyboardists) get
ahold of the piano part.
i'd also like to see them cover boxing or evaporated. but then again
it'd be nice to see them go nuts and cover underground or song for the
dumped. :)

Hey all!
I just played a game of ‘Hearts’ against Ben, Darren, and Robert. Guess
who won the game by a 79 points?!?! - Darren! :-) He is just a ‘Hearts’
virtuoso, I guess. Anyway, if you are interested, the scores were:
Darren - 11, Me (Kel) 90, Ben 91, Robert 111
(If you don’t know the scoring rules of this game, the object is to get
the lowest score.)
Anyway, for those not interested in my game of Hearts, you may be
slightly interested in the fact that I will soon be playing in an
orchestra that is conducted by the ol’ bastard Geoff Harvey (guy that
abused BFF on the MidDay Show here in Australia). It is for the ‘Carols
By Candelight’ thing hosted by Ray ‘plastic hair’ Martin on Christmas
Eve. If anyone wants me to tell Geoff what you think of him, or if you
have a creative way of pissing him off, please feel free to email me,
but don’t abuse me please! Oh, and I won’t burn or smash my violin to
make a point, or embarass myself on live television in front of millions
of people either. It has to be subtle. Thanx for reading this!
And, for those people who don’t give a rats ass anything I just said,
sorry.

Oh yeah - one more thing, I think it was Carrie who made the excellent

erased it off my computer :-(
Thanx. It would be gratefully appreciated!!! :-)

Whatsup fivers?
I was sitting at the universitys hardened wooden desks on a rainy Sunday
afternoon reading the days umpteenth Armchair when I had a sudden flash
of clarity that I'm gonna be forced to share with you guys now...
What is cool about the Armchair is not all the BFF related material and info
that gets passed around nor the constant arguments that seem to appear
but the contact with other people around the globe. I love reading about
other peoples gig reviews or experiences with the band or a dream they
had or how a song made them feel... it reminds me that there are people all
over the world just like me and although I'll never meet them it's comforting to
know they're there just the same... that is something no snail-mailed newsletter
could ever do. Please excuse my hippyshit warblings but I just suddenly realised
this and had to tell somebody.
Peace, love, free sex (mail me) and general smiles all round...

Subject: "drunken frat guys"
I just wanted to write and say I'm a bit resentful about all of the
fraternity bashing going on on the Armchair. By saying "drunken frat
guys," you cheapen the entire fraternity system and degrade
yourselves in the process. It is unfair to classify (perhaps
unintentionally) all members of fraternities as simply "drunken frat
guys." Could we possibly refer to those drunk at the shows as
"drunks?" That is what they are and their affiliation with a
fraternity has nothing to do with their inebriated state.
Please just show a little respect for me and my fraternity by not
classifying me with those who obviously don't respect those around
them.

what i didnt like was the harsh
notes coming from Robert's bass, it seemed like some of the time
when he
would strike the bass it just sounded odd
Umm...videos use the original recording (generally + in this case
particularly). The recording used for the Brick video is the same as
the one used on the CD-bass tone + all. Perhaps it's the fact that Mtv
comes through a 4-inch TV speaker + you're used to hearing CD-quality
sound on your stereo. Hook up your TV to your stereo + you won't be
disappointed. Thinking, however, that they make a new recording just
for the video is akin to thinking they make an entirely new recording
every time they put a single out. I thought people knew that. I guess
I assume too much?

Subject: Brick and physics?, rock stars
Hello, it's me again...
Well, I saw the Brick video. I was really pleased with the way it turned
out...I think it was pretty darn cool to say the least. I really like the
way the film was shot in the background. Did anyone else pay a lot of
attention to the background? I did. I noticed it was like a film I saw
in my HS Physics class about the powers of ten. What they do, is they
start at the ground level and then take the camera away by powers of ten,
so you see the person, the street, the city, the world, the planets, the
milky way, etc. I was so excited when I saw this because it would just be
really neat if they did use the Powers of Ten video...does anyone else
know what I am talking about?
Also, while I was watching, I started thinking of something else. In Feb.
of 1996, I saw the guys at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS. I was only 17,
and it was an 18+ show, but my brother had connections and I got in. The
Bottleneck is pretty small, so it was cool because everyone was so close
(I was 3 ft. away from Ben). Since they weren't very big yet, not many
people stayed after to get autographs...so when I did, Darren said, "Hey,
we're rock stars now" in a joking way. If only they knew what the future
would bring them. Now they've got a lot of fans and I'm happy for them.
Thanks for reading the long post.
Have a great day,
emily s.

Subject: Sessions & Upcoming show in Denver
First off, here in Denver, Sessions aire on Monday nights
at 11:30 on channel 12. Their schedule is 2 weeks behind,
so the BFF segment will air on the 24th of this month...
Which is the same night that they play at the Ogden! That's
gonna be wierd, eh?
Also, the Ogden has recently severed ties with Rocky
Mountain Teleseat, so anybody who tried to get tix through
them was likely told what I was told...that the show was
sold out. I was freaked and confused, but I figured the tix
had all gone to promos and record execs, much like the last
time Dada came to town.
Anyways, fear not, tickets are still available, but only at
the box office. If anybody is coming into town for the show,
and wants tix in advance, mail me and we'll work something
out.

Subject: DC Show and Cover Suggestion
Finally, official details on the DC/Georgetown show. Should be a good one. The ambiance of the room
should really get the boys going. Anyone know details on who the warm-up act might be? And does $18 for
tickets seem a little high to anyone to see the band.
As far as a cover suggestion. I'm surprised no one has suggested the old KISS chestnut "Beth". Of course
Robert will come out from behind the drum kit and sing it.
