Hey I just thought I would post one more time because I can now get a
ride to the El Rey show, but I still need a ride back to Santa Clarita.
So if anyone from up north here is going and could possibly help me out,
I'd be so grateful. If not, I guess I'll beg everyone I know with a
car. Thanks,
Chris

I always figured it was because (1) he got bad christmas gifts or (2) he
needed the money. If the song is indeed about going through with an
abortion, I imagine it's probably the second reason.

The line is actually "Sell some gifts that I got." A friend of mine and I
have theorisd that he is going to sell his christmas presents to help pay
for the abortion... That's just a theory though, working on the supposition
that the song is about abortion...

Last night was the annual Wake Forest Sketch Comedy Show called "In Search
of a Corner," which I can most accurately compare to a "Naked Gun" style
comedy show about life at Wake.
The skits are interspersed with house blackouts where the sound
operators play some songs relative to the skits that have just ended, and
then just songs they like, and the audience usually claps or sings along.
Last night featured "UnSkinny Bop" by Poison, "Cherry Pie" by Warrant,
(yes, these guys dig DEEP) that song by Cowboy Mouth that was mentioned in
the last Armchair, some song called "Shoot Me in the Ass," among others.
Then, before the final skit, the lights go out and I hear a familiar, "1!
2! 3! 4!" and uncontrollably, I immediately screamed "WhOA!!! BEN FOLDS
FIVE!!!" and proceeded to sing like a champ until the next skit began at
the end of the first chorus, jarring the people around me with "well, f#$%
you too!"
Needless to say, it was a bully time.
Sometimes I think I oughta call-

Last night was awesome. Of the five times I've seen them, that was the
best. I can't discribe it. If anyone has a tape of that show I would love
to trade for it. I have about 13 BF5 bootlegs as well as numerous other
bands (Phish, Dead, Leftover Salmon, Bela Fleck, Dave Grisman, Mr Bungle,
etc.). I saw some mics in the back of the show, but they turned out to be
tapers for the band. They said they couldn't give out copies of their
tapes. PLEASE, ANYONE WHO TAPED THE SHOW, WRITE ME>

I always thought it meant they didn't have enough money to pay for the
abortion so they decided to sell some of their christmas gifts (day after
christmas...) Anyone??
Also I've spoke to a few people who've expressesed interest in meeting for a
few cocktails before the 12/3 Providence show. If you are going to the show
and are interested, please email me! Does
anyone know the band order for the 12/2 Boston show with Catherine Wheel and
Everclear? Who's opening for who? I just had a dream that Ben Folds was
playing at my grammer school yard sale and there were all these old people
there who were all pissed off because they were playing too loud and i was
the only one watching them. Needless to say I was happy to see the show by
myself but was angry that no one else appreciated them. Weird huh? that's
it for now. farewell armchair

Supposedly Eddie Walker will be on NBP! I don't know how excited everyone
else is, but Eddie has become one of my favorite BFF songs too. Does anyone
know what the song is about? I heard that Eddie Walker played bass for
Majosha (Ben'd old band) for awhile or something. To me the song sounds
like a guy in a group home or a hospital or somwhere. At any rate, it has
one of the coolest choruses around -- download it now so you can say you
were hip to it before NBP came out!

Heya.
Some of you folks who've been on the armchair for a long time might
vaguely remember when I posted about the fact that my copy of the first
WNEW radio show had ceased to be in my posession due to the fact that my
car stereo had been ripped off and that cassette happened to be in the
tape deck at the time. Well, I've got that shit beat. This friday, my
3-month-old new freaking CAR was stolen!!! AND, to top it off... inside
the car were **ALL** of my bootlegs (about 8 hours of BFF stuff and a
good deal of stuff from other bands), AND my self-titled Bus Stop CD,
and a ton of other stuff I didn't wanna lose (but the rest is at least
easily replaceable). So hey, all you people I was planning to trade
bootlegs with, I'm totally sorry, but I don't HAVE any anymore. If
anyone would be so kind as to do a few blank tape trades with me or
something, I'd love you forever... anyways, though, that's my depressing
story. I'm gonna go bitch at the cops now.
Love and fishes,
- -dan.

I heard a RUMOR (it's a rumor, kids, not gospel. . . ) that either Robert or
Darren designed the art for the album.
>If you could have a private piano lesson with Ben and he could teach you
>only ONE song on piano, which song would you have him teach you?
this is a fascinating question! Does it have to be a BFF song? Assuming it
does, I think it has to be Philosophy for me. Mostly because this is the
first BFF song I really fell in love with, but also because I think it
contains a really elaborate and interesting piano part (and I *think* there
may be some Gershwin in there, too. . .JUST KIDDING!)with a ton of really
fun stuff.
Speaking of playing Philosophy -- does anyone with the piano book know how
good that version is? OR how good any of the book is, for that matter? Is
it worth checking the web site every day to see if it's FINALLY in stock?
Thanks. Sorry this post is so LONG!

hey------
i was supposed to mail out a tape w/all sorts of neat things and some bf5
b-sides on it to the aforementioned individual.
quite some time ago, i did......after procrastinating altogether too much.
and yesterday, saturday, i came home to note that the post office had
returned my tape..........to her, marked "incorrect address" or some such
nonsense. i'm paraphrasing. now i feel like an ass because the tape she
sent me was in my mailbox--oh--3 minutes after she told me she'd send it.
and what i rilly want to say is-------------
THE TAPE IS HERE AND I DON'T HAVE YOUR ADDRESS SO PLEASE, if you read this,
DROP ME A LINE W/THE PROPER ADDRESS. so i can stop feeling guilty, among
other things.
