Why thank you, Richard! It's cool to see people are still reading through
the chaft to find the wheat and talk about it. About this remix of Kate,
has anyone heard it? Does it have horns? Can anyone put it on RealAudio?
Is it faster than the regular tune?

Hey, no prob. I just hate to be thought of as someone who jumped on the
bandwagon when Ben & his boys became semi-famous. I bought Whatever &
Ever Amen right before they were on the edge of it (back in August), when
I heard a live version of Philosophy on my sister's Modern Rock Live CD.
I had no idea that Brick would become so popular & whatnot. Also, it does
feel that you have to have bought the first album within a year of it's
release or gone to a few concerts to be considered a fan. I ALMOST went
to a concert (has the tickets & all), but hey, that's life. Please be
just a little more courtious to the newer fans around these parts. Not
criticism, either, just from one's perspective.

Steve!

>suspiciously like a response record to "Underground"? (Or not.)

Hey, now that I think of it...no. Actually, I think they're ridiculing the
same crowd, so that's where the similarity comes in (and ends). There are a
lot of people who are into 'underground music' that are into a sort of
reverse popularity trip; i.e. anything popular must be commercialized shit.
Thankfully, we can all laugh at them. Why? Because we are cruel and hateful
people. Rock on

>6) Is "Kate" any less of a head-over-heels love song now that the song's
>namesake is divorced from the song's writer?

This is interesting. I thought Ben was parodying all those love songs.
("When all words fail she speaks, her mix tape's a masterpiece...", not
really that complimentary- a big mouth and no talent.)

>8) Lastly, the best piece of advice I could give: Never name your songs
>after women. Or, if you must, never play the song for the woman in
>question. Just because.

Listen to this man!! It is embarrasing and a definite problem to name a
song after a girl. I never do it (the name would be Kate too!). I change
names and dates. Just like made-for-tv movies....

In a Japanese radio interview i have with Ben and the guys, he says that
the song "Kate" is not EXACTLY about THE Kate, he just used her name and a
few little things. He said it was just a general love song and that it's
nice to hear your name in a song and have thousands of people singing it.
if it's a big deal i can figure out which of my tapes it's on and post the
text from it.

Another great, piano-playing, "angry young man" once sang, "I believe I've
passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage, I found that just
surviving was a noble fight. I once believed in causes too, I had my
pointless point of view, and life went on no matter who was wrong or right."
(a moment of appreciation for Billy Joel)

Subject: Shepherds Bush gig.....

Hi all you people with great musical taste!
I am now totally depressed cause the bff gig that I'd
looked forward to for months & months & months is over & now
my life has no purpose!!
I can't write a proper review so heres my views on
the good & bad points of last night's London gig:
BAD: no Best Imitation , no strings which I thought was
unbelievably cool last time, people talking all through slow
songs or ones they didn't know, the millions of crowd
surfers, Darrens haircut - sorry but he looked much better
before :), not enough Ben grins!, no 1981 shirts, & not
enough made-up-on-the-spot songs!!!
GOOD: (although that's a HUGE understatement!) Robert Disco
Diva, Ben's screeching voice & the mad strobe-thing at the
end, very brief Chumbawumba cover, Emaline as few people knew
it (making it more enjoyable for us who did as for once it
was Ben,Robert & Darren we heard!), She don't use jelly (as
it was new to me), Ben's "do you see a fat lady?" (ie - no;
it's not over yet!), & Robert dancing about!!
As you can probably deduce from that I love anything new,
spontaneous or out of the ordinary! Especially the
one-off improvised songs, as I just think it helps to show
the band we all know is the best really is way above all the
rest! I mean how many other bands do that? (if they do I'm
sure it's not with half as much style!)
Anyway it was the least perfect of the 3 times I've
been, although that's not to say it wasn't totally
magnificent - I enjoyed myself soooo much & can't wait
for next time. After what's been said on the chair
lately I was kinda scared to put in the bad points but
everything's relative & had it been my 1st Bff gig it'd no
doubt have been the best gig I'd ever seen.
I just have a few quick questions :
- - Brick single in the UK? Think I've missed the discussion on
release of this....email me someone please!
- - 1998 UK tour; anyone know anything yet? (what do you mean I
only saw them yesterday!?!!)
- - are they taking a break next year to record a NEW new-album?
- - is Ben *really* saying that he's "a factory" in Jackson
Cannery? Is it just me being thick or what?!
Thanks & sorry if it's too long!
		Nia xxx.

Subject: More Promo stuff for trade..

Howdy...sorry to post this again....the margins were messed up....and it was
hard to read the first time.

Hey Folks,

Here's my latest list of BF5 stuff to trade. If you are interested in
any of the following please email me at: MeandMrRay@Aol.Com Let me know which
item(s) you would like to trade for, and what you would like to offer in
return. I'm looking for BF5 material in return, esp. High quality bootlegs. So
here's the latest stuff:

1. Brick radio single: This is the Us radio single, which includes the album
version of Brick, and the Caleb Southern remix. The remix isn't alot differnt,
the drums and bass are mixed much better than the album version.

2. "Mix Tapes a Masterpiece" Promo sampler: Yup, I got my hands on 2 more of
these. Its a sampler of six songs from Whatever and ever Amen. Its all album
cuts, but its got a cool cover, and its pretty hard to come across.

3. Brick Video: I got 2 promo Brick videos. Just a white label promo video,
containing the full version of Brick. If your sick of Mtv editing this 4 and a
half minute video, trade for this...and you can watch it over and over again.

4. B-Sides Compilation: I've added some tracks to my B-sides sampler. I just
got the Japanese Brick single...and I've added the songs to this tape. Heres
the rundown on it:

Side One Side Two
Bad Idea (soundtrack Vers) Bad Idea (Demo vers)
Tom & Mary (Live) For all the Pretty People
Emaline (Live) Mitchell Lane
Jackson Cannery (Live) All Shook Up
Underground (Live) Song 4 The Dumped (Japanese
Vers)
Satan is my Master (Live) She Dont Use Jelly
Video (Live) Smoke (With Strings. from
KRCW)
Alice Childress (Rare on Air 3) Kate (Studio String Version)
Philosophy (Modern Rock Live) Fair (Studio String Version)
Champagne Supernova (Live) Video Profile (The audio from the
Theme from Dr.Pyser Promo video profile...its funny)
Hava Nagila
For All Ya'll Who Wear Fannie Packs

5. I Also have a large list of bootlegs (just over 30 dates) for trade.

There it is....Just reply to me, and we can trade. Just to say it again, I
wont take cash for any of these items, cause thats wrong. Trade Only. I'd
apologize for taking up so much room on the Armchair...but theres been so much
nonsense lately...I dont feel bad at all. Looking forward to some good trades.

Greg.
