Hey Everybody
Just wanted to let you all know, WXPN (University of PA's station) in Philly
just played the top 50 CDs of the year as voted on by us-the CD buying public
(yes!). Wanna guess what was #3? You guessed it! "Whatever and Ever Amen"
just edged out Dylan (sorry Hil, but I'm sure you'd agree-if somebody's gonna
beat Dylan it might as well be BFF). Not bad for 3 guitar-less bumpkins!
Only better were Dar Williams and Sarah Mclachlin (help me with
that!!....although I did vote for Sarah for my #5). The DJ kind of ruined it
by calling them THE Ben Folds Five (oh well, can't have everything) but hey it
still sounded good. Better get your tickets early kids. You can check out
the whole list at WWW.XPN.ORG Happy New Year everybody!!

Subject: THREE songs on the countdown
first of all, happy new year to all! second, ohmigod! i was flipping out last
night. not one, not two, but THREE ben folds five songs made it onto the top
106 on 106.3 (a local radio station here in NJ) of 1997. number 58 was 'battle
of who could care less', number 30 was 'one angry dwarf and 200 solemn faces'.
i forgot what number brick was, but it was way up there. maybe somewhere
around 20 or so? and this countdown isn't one of those ones that the deejays
pick, either. all of the listeners had to vote for their top 5 songs of 1997
and the votes were counted and then made into this countdown. that means that
ben folds five is actually popular here where i live. not that that changes
anything, because i still only know a handful of people in my school who know
who they are. there must be closet ben folds five listeners. sorry, i have no
idea what i'm talking about. anyways, how cool is that? i am way psyched up.
the list will be posted on their website in a few days (www.fm106.3.com) if
anyone is interested. otherwise, email me and i'll tell you their exact
numbers once i see the list! happy new year! --jess

The end of november, 1997. I think it was the 29th or the 30th.
Pre show interview. The show in LA Live from the El Rey theater.
Broadcast
over Real Audio and Real Video on LA. Live's web site. Ben Responded in
the
interview to the question ;
Interviewer (female) :"I think I know what the song is about. Can I ask
the
obvious, its about a young couple who get an abortion, right"
Ben: "thats correct. You should be honored, thats the first time I ve
ever
answered that question."
There you have it. I have it on tape for anyone who doubts me. You can
trade me a boot for the boot of this show, complete with this part of
the
interview.
I hope this settles the matter forever. From Bens mouth to our ears.
