I know this may be pointless to ask, but I went to this show and know
that people taped it. I can't find anyone, though, who wants to share
it with me. I don't have a very large tape collection, but would be
happy to trade what I have. If anyone has any info, please let me know.
In dire need,
Biff

Subject: W&EA 5th in Perth!
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that in X-Press magazine (a free
weekly music mag here in Perth) W&EA was voted the 5th best album of
the year by one of the journo's. Here's what she had to say:
"Not normally my kind of music, Ben Folds Five nonetheless won me
over by being the underdogs. Geeks extraordinaire, the success of
their singles is another big fat triumph for one angry dwarf. From
Uncle
Walter to Battle of WCCL, the melodies of BFF can't fail to make you
smile, even though everything you touch is turning shit. BFF takes
all those carefree moments with the sun on your face and makes them
giddy little harmonies. Oh yeah, and if BFF had written a song called
Kate back in school, I definately would've kissed them"
- Kate Toovey
Another thing I wanted to know, have any of the Aussies out there
heard Brick played at all on *any* radio station? What the hell are
JJJ doing?
Catcha!
Jodie
PS: Could Ad Healey please email me? - I know you're a huge Whitlams
fan and I wanted to ask you some qns, since I'm going to my first gig
this month.

I voted for Ben Folds Five, Dar Williams, and Grey Eye Glances (#3, #2,
and # 26 respectively). I also voted for Big Blue Hearts which I was
surprised didn't make it.

This might be of interest if you're living in the Los Angeles and Orange
County areas, and like Ben Folds Five (which is a lot of you...):
ARE-OH-VEE music video program
Sunday nights / Monday mornings
1 a.m. for a half hour
On KDOC (Channel 56, 46, 24.... check your local listings, since it varies)

This weekend they are showing live concert footage of Ben Folds Five for the
entire episode. I'm not sure where the footage is taken from. I know the
producers of the show were at the recent El Rey BFF show on Nov. 30th, but I'm
not sure if they were taping. I also know they've played a clip or two from
the Chicago broadcast, so this may be just an edited version of this.
Nonetheless, if you live in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, check
into KDOC and get the VCRs running. =)

Hey all,
I know this sellout discussion has been beaten to a Hanson-y
pulp, but here's my two cents:
So I'm sitting in Papa Gino's, Bedford, MA yesterday eating my tasty
Papa Platter, and "Brick" comes on over the muffled, circa 1963 sounding
mono PA. Hm, I thought. Sellout?
Nope. Not in any way. If all PA music could be so insightful,
thoughtful, honest, and downright kickass. Even if its followed by the
new Bee Gees song.

Hey! people on the Armchair,
Well, I'm back from a two week holiday and as you can guess, my mailbox
just exploded and I've spent the best part of the day sorting it out.
Anyway, glad to see the Armchair has reverted back to its quagmire of
petty squabbles and such-oh yeah, did I tell you that after the Shep.
Bush gig, when a girl asked The Sledge what Brick was about, he said it
was about going to the vet. Well, well, well. He did say that it was
about lots of things, whatever you wanted it to be. Just to put a little
oil on the fire that is the Brick debate.
I've already caught up with most of the Armchairs- I'm missing a few,
but hey, that's nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks to everyone for
writing about the review, I wish you guys posted on the Armchair more
often!
Anyway, I can't wait till Jan. 10th for Naked Baby Photos, the
subsequent release of Brick and the new album in March! If they're
coming back over to tour again, that'd be brilliant!
There you go, another meaningless post that's wasted everybody's time.
Oink oink.
Anthony
