played it millionnsof times already.... someone asked for advice on meeting
the guys- me& a mate went ot see them at the manchester gig in december &
just hung around outside for a while, then had a quite bizzarre
conversation with them - we managed to make ben talk in a cockney accent -
it was most amusing....

O.k, I'm Kim Southern. College student in Iowa at Drake University in Des
Moines (freaking cold here). Saw BFF at HORDE this summer in Denver...they rocked
the festival as the best act there....and I was about 50 feet away from the men.
Someone asked what soundtrack "Bad Idea" can be found on. It is on the "Truth
About Cats and Dogs" soundtrack. I'm a DJ for my college radio station, and I
happened upon that little treasure one evening.
I also wanted to express my dismay when I found out that BFF would only get as
close as Chicago on this tour. Being in Iowa, and being a college student, I
couldn't really afford to drive 5 hours one way...but the concert is sold out now,
so I don't have any hope of seeing it. I wish the boys would come do a college
tour. But, that is only the jabbering of a poor undergrad.
Enjoy the concerts, those who are lucky enough to see them.

I gotta agree with Joe. Also, I think "he is drowning slowly" because he is
holding onto her.
I think the "brick" is his girlfriend, but couldn't it also be the unborn
baby? The baby is just kind of weighing everyone down, without reallying
doing anything.

So far I have listened to NBP in a delirious state and haven't bothered to
dig out details. I heard Ben make the Spice Girls reference, but I thought
that it was a joke covering the recent and strange success of the Spice
Girls. The guy who posted the message last time is right though. By my
recconing (and I must admit that I can come up with only general time at
best) the Spice Girls didn't begin their big success in the US until early
1997 and the track is labeled as 1996. However, they were big in the UK
long before though. I really hope that Ben and the boys picked up on this
strange fad while overseas and were simply making jokes the islanders would
understand. Please tell me that they didn't play as an opening band for
BFF. Actually, what a laugh that would be.

I'm a DAT taper who would like to spin some analog or DAT copies of BF5
shows for the Massachusetts resident who can find some out of print CDs
by a Massachusetts band called the Nields.
The Cd's are Live At The Iron Horse and 66 Hoxsey Street and the only
way to get them would be while you are browsing the local used Cd
stores.

OK, I flipped when I heard "Fear of Pop" mentioned on the radio, and posted
right away. Well, then I went to the CD store, and they'd never heard of
"Fear of Pop." They had plenty of BFF, though, even multiple copies of NBP.
So, I don't know. . . I'm gonna keep looking, and call the radio station.
Sorry to get anybody else all worked up for nothing. . .
Is 11/26/96 too early to joke about the Spice Girls in London? I'm thinking
that their reign of terror had probably already begun in the fall of 96
over there.

well, unfortunately, the Spice Girls have been around since *March 1996*.
At least. (although it feels like forever... the seconds pass slowly).
Their first single Wannabe, a musical masterpiece, was released about
then-ish. so by Nov 96 they were just about HUUGE over here. But hey, -
they still could've opened for bff!

To the guy that asked about the London show...
Yes, it's a little publicised fact that the Spice girls did actually
open for a few of the UK tour shows in 1996. This was when they weren't
really a big name band and still learning how to breathe. Apparently,
due to a very good singing coach their harmonies were pretty good back
then but then they fired her so we'll never know for sure. I'm sure if
you're really desperate you'll find a bootleg.

P.s. don't pay for bootlegs, ever.

Subject: Brick meaning ;)
I always figured brick was about an abortion.. seems to make sense..
"6 am day after Christmas
I throw some clothes on in the dark
The smell of cold
Car seat is freezing
The world is sleeping
I am numb"
typical song setup..we know the time of the year and everything..
"Up the stairs to the apartment
She is balled up on the couch"
girl sad about something
"Her mom and dad went down to Charlotte
They're not home to find us out"
another key setup point
"And we drive
Now that I have found someone
I'm feeling more alone
Than I ever have before
She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly
Off the coast and I'm headed nowhere
She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly
They call her name at 7:30"
abortion clinic..
I pace around the parking lot
Then I walk down to buy her flowers
And sell some gifts that I got
Can't you see
It's not me you're dying for"
talking about the baby..
"Now she's feeling more alone
Than she ever has before"
she's lost the baby..
"She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly
Off the coast and I'm headed nowhere
She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly
As weeks went by
It showed that she was not fine"
post abortional depression..
rest of the song just backs things up..

To the person doing the favorite song contest or whatever you wish to call
it, I'd like to extend my opinion and vote for "Best Imitation of Myself".
The bridge from that song is nothing short of amazing. Next to that I would
probably say "Steven's Last Night in Town" if that is relevant at all.
Question: Just what were the guys on when the cover photos for Whatever
were taken?
And to hop on the porn star name bandwagon mine would be Lars Panis.
Thank you for your time. Sabalu. Nanoo

He actually says "We're the Spice Girls...we'll be back in March." :)

I think that was a really rude response to a fellow fans
question...oh...I'm sorry...Dreamster obviously must not be such a die
hard fan as you are. It seems like a lot of people on this list feel they
have to prove how big a fan they are...why don't we just share our love
for Ben's music and be kind to fellow fans...whether they came in to Ben
during Majosha or Brick...the point is ... we are all fans..that is why
we are on this list.
