DO NOT REPLY TO OFF-TOPIC OR INSULTING MESSAGES!!!
So many people are complaining about how much space these useless
posts are occupying, without realizing that they are adding to the
problem by quoting or replying to these messages themselves.
Posts with no BFF content are off topic. So are posts of a moderating
nature (that's my job). Usually I will send a gentle reminder to
those who violate these rules, but lately it just seems to go on
and on. As a result, please be aware that you may find yourself
unsubscribed without warning if you post an off-topic message.
BACK ON SCHEDULE
The problem has been fixed and digests should once again be going out
daily on schedule.

Enough with the categories already. Just let's revel in our
commonality as Ben Folds Five afficionados and stop dividing. That's
what The Man wants--to break us down and tear us apart! Fuck that!
Fight the power! What the world needs now is love, sweet love! All we
are saying is give peace a chance! etc., etc. Anyway, I have a tattoo
of the BF5 piano logo on my right ass cheek, so I'd have all of y'all
beat.

Chicago's WKQX, or Q101, the "New Rock Alternative" plays bumpers with
snippets, jazzed up, of 4 or 5 of the latest songs they've been
playing to death. One of these is Brick. THEY ADDED DRUM BEATS TO IT!
THEY ADDED GODDAMNED DRUM BEATS TO BRICK, LIKE IT'S SOME CRAPPY
BACKSTREET BOYS DANCE TUNE! MY GOD, HAVE THESE PEOPLE NO SHAME?!?!
I almost wept.

> THE COOLEST BFF shirt out there. I'm not talking about the blue longsleeve,
> i'm talking about the awesome navy blue BFF shirt with the piano on the
> front and "I was never col in school...." on the back
So, since I have that one, does this make me a Walter or an Emaline?

I'm sure!!!! A radio station here in Dallas just played Brick and the DJ
said, "The story behind that song was that the lead singer was dating a
heroin addict and that she was a brick and was drowning him so they had to
go their separate ways."
Talk about rumors getting started!

Subject: Jeff Buckley
Hi there Armchair...this is a Walter-Emaline here...porn star name "Bambi
Snowbird"...anyway I am also a Jeff Buckley fan as well, and as those of you who have
CMJ this month, you read Ben's mention of Jeff Buckley...
"My singing used to be awful," admits Folds. "I don't have Jeff
Buckley's voice. I don't write songs as an excuse to hear myself sing. It's the other
way around: I sing so I can hear my songs. It can be kind of scary. You're on
the radio next to -- well, on the shelf next to Jeff Buckley. We're in the B's.
People can flip through and pick up his record instead and hear a lot better
singer. He has that knack. I've had to really work at it. Of course, he probably
doesn't play piano as well as me. I'm not going to get all competitive with the guy
because obviously he's not doing so well these days."
Anyway, my friend sent me the exert of the article, with the warning that
"JBEL" (Jeff Buckley Eternal Life) or their mailing list, is up in arms over the
quote....so just watch out for the blood thirsty Jeff Buckley fans, and take it easy
on them, they lost their idol...so they have to create new things to be excited
over. Personally, I thought the mention was humble, humorous and a touching
tribute from our own demi-god to theirs....

'Sup,
I don't know if my other letters appeared on here, but, probably not. Anyway,
this is Laura, hello, I'm new to the list, and yes, I have liked the band
since before "Brick". Two questions for now . . . wait, three . . .
1) First, did anyone else catch Ben Folds Five on MTV Live a couple of
months ago? They played One Angry Dwarf and Brick, and it was a really good
show . . . I caught the last few minutes of Dwarf and they seemed to have been
on for a bit before . . . Don't know. My VCR broke, I'd like to hear about it
2) Are there two versions of the "Brick" video? I could have sworn I've
seen two of them, but it just might be that I don't pay attention in the
least.
3) For people in Detroit - is BF5 at Clutch Cargo's Feb 16 an 18-and-older
show? (I hope not, I have people willing to give up tix if it's legal.)
C.Cargo's is like a nightclub sort of thing, and pretty much a bar besides,
so, uh, any info would be appreciated.
Just e-mail Elle2791@aol.com
Laura =)
