To all of ya'll who live in NYC: I have noticed in the "Voice" recently
an ad for Sweet Basil (a restaurant, I guess) in the Village, and it
says that Chuck Folds plays there every Sunday for brunch. Is this the
same Chuck Folds who is Ben's brother, and used to be in Bus Stop?
Please e-mail me and let me know. If it is him, what kind of music does
he play?
Also, I am desperate for a copy of the Hammerstein show from 2/20. Does
anyone have it? PLEASE!! I'll pay good money...
Finally, another question...is the girl who is on the cover of the
"Kate" import (dark wavy hair; wearing a T-shirt that says KATE)the
actual Kate from Ben/Kate fame? Or is she just some random girl?

Subject: MP3s and 120 Minutes

Hey there...
I've been trying to download some mp3's of the b-sides, live stuff, and what
not, and most of what I could get so far is from the "Ben Folds Five Audio
Archive." The problem though, is that the downloads always get cut off
(something with a server timeout, even with MSIE it's a big pain) and I
wanted to know if anyone else has BFF mp3's at another site. I'm planning
on getting together a good 74 minutes of hard-to-get songs and burning it
all to a CD. But if I can't get the full tracks, it's tough. So I'd
appreciate it if anyone else has them elsewhere.
By the way, the boys did a small clip for 120 Minutes on MTV; it was shown
on the intro coming back from a commercial tonight. Same old "Hi, this is
Robert, Ben, and Darren. And you're watching 120 min. on MTV..." (not
verbatim). It was cool to see it though. Also, if you haven't gotten the
March 98 CMJ yet, GET IT. The article is great, plus you get the strings
version of Smoke to boot!

My friend Doug told me that Robert said they were going to Atlanta to
record the "bah-bah-bah" song, which I assumed was Peyser (Doug was
impressed that it had a name). Is this terribly wrong?

Also, I've got "Protection," "Cool Whip," "Kalamazoo," and "ELvin Bishop"
on CD now-- they're cool and all, but I'm glad they never made the
commercial releases. When were these demos done?

Hi Everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted to the list...but now I have something
decent to say! Anyway...I recently transcribed some of the music to Brick,
and posted it on my page. You'll need to download Note Worthy Composer
(available at my site too) before you can read the music.

I hope to post more sheet-music...but for now, Brick is up. The address for
my page is http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Underground/2175/bffm.htm

Remember that entrys for the "People on the Armchair" page are always
welcome...just go to the site to see what I'm after!

Hey guysthis is ~Elisabeth, the troubled Catholic schoolgirl from the
wrong side of the tracks..:) with a different, and different is better!
addy.
I was in Mystery Train today in Harvard Sq. There were two little
happenings.
1. I saw a copy of Nekkid Bebe Photos...smiled as I thought of the evil
Brickhead (BTW, if youre on the armchair, you generally have an
acceptable level of obsession w/ the band...) who said, Hey! I like that
song by Ben Folds Five! Then they heard Satan is My Master......heh heh.
2. I saw a BFF bootleg. It was from a NY radio station from 1996. I
looked at the cover, and it listed some of the songs...including
Crosstown Traffic and Video Killed The Radio Star and I eeked! Out loud!
People were suprised at my emotional reaction! So I listened to the
tape....it was of a pretty poor quality, I thought. Ben truly sounded
like his voice had changed, and he was new, "manly voiced" Ben now. But
whatever...I was broke anyway....
But I heard their cover of "Video..."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it
was good; I bet live it kicked ass. And that makes me happy. If I come
back to that store with cash, you know the boot will be in my hands, Ben
having a terribly manly voice nonwithstanding-if I was a bit more of an
UNcle Plastic Bitch, no, a Whipper or whatever that term was, I would be
frothing at the sight of that boot and extorting money from my parents.
Does Robert always do the vocals on their cover of Crosstown Traffic?
Actually, writing this, I regret not getting the boot. But things pop up
in that store. Ill be back!
I CARE THAT ROBERT WEARS NAIL POLISH! The boys at my school dont even
have the balls. And theres this one kid, if he wore a little eyeliner
and went for the 80s pretty goth boy look, hed be an Adonis. But hes
not; hes a jock.

Well, I there I was, jamming along to the Grosse Pointe
Blank soundtrack, when all of a sudden, BOOM! It hit me!
Everyone, quick! Pop out your GPB CD's and turn it to track
4, Queen & David Bowie's "Under Pressure". Right around
3:42 or so, there's a little piano part that, while I know
it's short and might just be a coincidence, is the exact same
thing Ben repeats at the end of Brick. I don't know if he
got it from this song or just did it himself, but either way
I thought this was pretty cool.

OK, we got brick to No 4 (well done everyone) Lets try and get another
song in there. I reckon Stevens las Night in Town would be perfect, so I
am going to go and vote for it for next weeks chart. If we all do it we
should get it in but not as high because a lot of Aussies would be voting
for Brick anyway, but then if the y here Last Night.... they might vote
for it. For those of you who can't remember the address is
