It's perfectly alright, Spencer. BFF and BB/BW just happen to be my top
favorite bands. Why? Well because of this:
>6. Another keyword is - versatility.>>
They're like nothing else I heard before. If there were the Beach Boys
and the Beatles in the 60's, well, there's Ben Folds Five in the 90's.
(Oh well, we already knew that, didn't we... :-) )
Thought I'd add something about this:
>5. Brian got scared of the fire back in the 60's while recording "Smile".
>Ben Folds was "killed in a house fire", not for real, just a
>fake story, but if he reads it, he too may become scared...?
While recording a track called "Fire" (a real scary one, with fire
crackling in the background and sirens wailing) for the unreleased 1966
album "Smile", there was a _real_ fire a few blocks away. Brian thought
*his music* started that fire and thoght this was so scary that he
abandoned the project (there were other major factors as well). "Smile"
was supposed to be the successor to "Pet Sounds". BTW, there are plenty
of "Smile" bootlegs around... ;-)
And the story of Ben Folds being killed in a house fire (scary thought!!)
I found on Cousin Jess's World Wide Mess page:

Songs I'd like to see BFF cover:
Anything off of "Who's Next" especially "Going Mobile"
Theme to "Inspector Gadget"
"Rainin' Babies" by The Flaming Lips
"Whip It" by Devo
"No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" by The Guess Who
After seeing all these lists of B-bands, I was wondering if I was
the only one who filed BFF under F???

For every excuse that prevents you from taking action, there's an equally
compelling reason to just go ahead and do it. What do you really want to
accumulate -- excuses or results?
Would you stand on the beach and throw gold coins into the ocean? Of course
not. So why sit there and throw valuable, golden moments into oblivion?

BFF will be opening for Dave Matthews Band this summer in Giants

I know the girl who posted to the armchair about the charlotte show said
e-mail her, but I thought other folks on the armchair might want more
details about the show so here goes.
The event is a three-day music and arts festival call Center Cityfest,
some other bands I remember that are playing are Big Head Todd and the
Monsters, Violent Femmes, Joan Baez, Son Volt, and Cravin' Melon (to name
a few). It's going to be in the streets of downtown Charlotte, and you
can get a three day pass for $25 or a one-day pass for $10. It's from
4/24-4/26, and tickets are available by calling (704) 333-2263. I haven't
seen a schedule yet, so I don't know when on Sunday the boys are playing,
but if I find out I'll let y'all know!
The Duke show is for Duke students only, which ticks this Tarheel off
(can't blame Ben for going there, even though I don't understand it :) ),
so I am currently kissing my Duke friend's ass trying to get him to take
me! If anyone on here is from Duke and wants to help me out, please
write!

Okay, I just noticed an interesting feature on the DMB tour dates
page...if you view it in lynx (text-only program) it tells you the opening
bands, and for one of the dates, I can't tell if it's boston or another
city, it has beck and bf5 listed! so frank, or anyone else in the know,
is this for real? that would be a great show if it's going to happen!
thanks a ton!

Dear Nevrland,
It seems your problem may be more psychological than physical. Perhaps
your sibling was angry at you for playing your BF5 CD over and over again
at all hours of the day and night. Or, maybe that pernacious brat is simply
suffering from jealousy, since you own the BF5 CD and they
don't...Hmmm?
I would recommend counselling for your family.
In the meantime, try removing the hairspray with a cottonball dipped
generously in rubbing alcohol. (remember not to drink it! It contains
ether and will make you very, very sick!) Lay the paint side down on top of
a paper towel to absorb any run-off. Don't rub the CD. Quickly and gently
glide the wet cottonball over the shiny sided surface, trying not to overdue
it. Wait for the alcohol to evaporate before examining the CD to see if it
will play. (Most tape and mouse cleaners are basically rubbing alcohol.)
Good luck and be sure to include your sibling in future BF5 concerts.
Perhaps they will gain a new appreciation for the band and for you!

Okay, I've got some questions about the Ad. Here I will explain. I saw
the last half of the ad for Whatever, Ever and Amen. This part had
some stupid guy doing a voice over and the pictures of the band from
the front cover. If anyone else has ever actually seen the whole ad
this all my make sense to you.

well im glad you met robert sledge, whitney. i havent even been to a show

only been to one concert my entire life.....
neat comparisons of brian wilson and ben. ill have to listen to pet sounds
more closely and see if i can think of any myself.
geez french guy lighten up!!! speak your mind, yes, but really, calm down.
now that i think about it, joel and ben do kinda look alike..but not
physically. joel is a lot taller. and it is weird that both are losing
hair and all that. neat. oh and mst3k hasnt been the same without joel,
just for an unrelated sidenote. the shows have been slowly declining since
joel left. the sci fi shows are okay but thats it. off topic rambling
done here.
i have a question. i dont know if anyone has talked about this before but
i had a thought this morning that perhaps if you changed the name 'emaline'
to 'caroline' that whole song could be about their first record label.
allowing for some poetic jumble, it sounds like it coudl be to me.
sorry if anyone else has talked aobut that but i just thought of it this
morning.

Joel Hodgson is clearly Ben's long lost older bro. In other news, there is a
man in the Archie McPhee catalog who looks like what Ben will look like when
he's about 55. FOr those of you not in the know, Archie McPhee is a really
cool store in Seattle that sells, uh, well they sell like plastic bugs, alien
toys, Magic 8 Balls, weird candies, Japanese windup robots, propeller
beanies, nun candles...all kinds of cool shit. Go to their website, www.
mcphee.com, and look for the man with the Potato Gun. You can order a print
catalog and he's definitely in there, and he is Old Ben.
