I just caught BFF playing on the Larry Sanders Show!!! Why did no one know
this was going to happen?!?!???? They played a short instrumental bit, and it
was talked over most of the time, but it was Rockin!!! Robert was wearing an
interesting T-shirt I wish I could have read. I taped most of it though, so I
will go back and check. Please, no requests for tapes - it is literally a
minute long maybe and HBO repeats this show ad naseum. Sorry if I wasn't the
first to mention this and now it is being discussed ad naseum.
PS - the girl in Jurassic Park AND Brick is Arianna Richards, NOT Kirsten
Dunst.

Subject: BF5 on This Week's Larry Sanders...
Hi all,
I'm kinda surprised this wasn't mentioned on the official BF5 site.
Tonight on HBO's "The Larry Sanders Show," Ben, Robert, and Darren had a
cameo as the musical guest. They played "Theme from Dr. Pyser" sans
vocals. Unfortunately, something was a bit screwy with the piano mix. It
kinda sounded muffled much like the mix in the Jenny McCarthy show.
A word of warning...those expecting to hear a straight performance of the
show will be disappointed. Much like other musical performances on
"Sanders," the show cuts back to the musical guest's appearance on the
fictional talk show to the chatter between the Larry Sanders character and
the other "guests," so you really don't get to hear all of the performance.
Regardless of this, it's a great episode especially if you're into the
whole television scene or a "Larry Sanders Show" fan like me. For those
that missed it, it'll airing again this Tuesday night at 11 PM on HBO.

Hey. I'm going to the Dallas show at the Bronco Bowl, and while I've been
to plenty of shows in Dallas, I've never actually been to the Bronco Bowl.
Is it the sort of place that we can get up close? And is it a Gen Adm show?
Anyone know?
Another thing. Does ANYONE have BFF's version of Video Killed the Radio
Star on MP3, or can they make it? I'm DYING for that song. I NEED it.
Badly.

Hey y'all. I was just wondering if anyone down here in Texas has heard
SFTD on the radio. I'm inthe DFW area and I haven't heard it yet.
Well, that's not totally true. They were interviewed on 102.9 the day of
their Dallas concert in February (don't etch that in stone, I'm not sure about
the station). But other than that, zip.
Please let me know if any stations are playing it so I can bombard them
with requests!!!

Subject: trader WARNING, good trader....
hey everyone...
i just wanted to send out a WARNING to everyone out here......
BE CAREFUL whenever ordering from UDMO a.k.a. "disc connection"...
i ordered a CD from them and i received the confirmation E-mail from them
saying that they would hold it for me for a couple of weeks. well, a month
and a half goes by and it's still not in my mailbox (i sent a money order out
the next day and paid for 3-4 day priority shipping)...after all this time i
decided to send them an E-mail and ask about my order....they told me they
were very busy and said that the CD was going out in monday's mail (it was
friday)....so everything was cool until another month passed by and i still
had not received the CD....then, i sent them a few more E-mails..(most of them
ignored)...they finally said that they had already sent it to me....i kept E-
mailing them saying that they didn't....so they E-mailed me back and said they
would put a tracer on my CD and find out if it had been delivered to
me......two weeks later, i FINALLY got my CD....
here's the deal, though......to make things extra-frustrating, they cancelled
3 CDs that i had seen later on that i had put on hold during all of that
time.......one of them happened to be that double-CD from ben folds
five....they sent me hate mail two weeks after i had put the CDs on hold, so i
sent them a pleasant E-mail back saying that i would send them their money as
soon as i had got my first order in, and asked them to please keep the CDs on
hold for me.......oh well, they didn't and they sent me a smart-ass E-mail and
kicked me off of their mailing list....
HOWEVER, this was only one incident....there are probably people on this list
that have had no trouble with UDMO....i've bought 4 CDs total at 4 separate
times by them and they sent them with no trouble, except for the last 2
times....the time before, it took them a little over a month to send me my
CD....so to the guy that is waiting on an order from them, take my advice and
be extra patient....
it sucks going to the mailbox everyday for 3 months when you're expecting your
CD to come in and not getting it....also, to denise: your tapes are on the
way....spring break, 4 papers, a project, and my 21st birthday has kept me
from getting them done as promptly...sorry about that.... ;o(

p/s: i've not read some digests in a while due to being busy with so much,
but the first one that i read was PHISHERXC@AOL.COM replying to some people
who, it seemed to me, had called him a bad trader. i just wanted to let y'all
know that he's cool and we've worked out at least 2 trades to my
knowledge....i got my tapes right on time....
<< I haven't personally heard Domo Ben Chan Desu, but if you're interested,
UDMO, which is probably the most reliable on-line bootleg dealer, has it in
their catalog. You can contact them at dogbone@voicenet.com...if I
remember correctly, it's $45, and it's on 2 CDs.
I ordered "Live From The Underground" for $25 from them, but I'm still
waiting to get e-mail confirmation from them...I'll let you know how it
turns out. >>

BEN FOLDS FIVE
"Who's gonna whiz on the piano?"
What's wrong with our heroes? Atlanta, GA, long criticized as "the city of
bad slogans", "Hotlanta", and "city where rude Music Midtown fans throw Coke
bottles at Darren and knock the drumstick out of his hand but those were
idiots and the rest of us are sorry" has been SORELY ignored on the latest leg
of the marvelous piano-bass-drums trio known to the world as Ben Folds Five's
upcoming tour. THIS is a call to all of the fans, supporters of the band, and
anyone who wishes to see Sara (as well as the MANY OTHER Atlanta fans)
ecstatically happy--to the point where they just might scream and jump around
until they turn a ruddy shade of purple--please add your signature to the
bottom of this little diatribe and send it on to anyone whom you feel would
help with this cause! Also, if anyone would like to send comments or anything
directly to me, (Sara) my e-mail is FieryLox@aol.com. Thanks for aiding and
abetting!

Well I heard the last half of SFTD on a local radio stationlast night, I was
real suprised, I had been calling all day to request it but they weren't
answering, and I was about to call and flipped on the station and realized I
didn't have to. I called to request it today but he said they just played it
and I missed it. DAMN!!! Well I was wondering if any where they were playing
the full/un-cut version, because they substituted a funny zipper type noise
for "fuck you too" but let "bitch" go which is what I expected...just
wondering
Now here's the deal...anyone with a video compilation of BFF e-mail me I
really want to get a copy since I have missed much of their TV appearances to
work and l;ate night classes.

Okay, one more try:
I just read on the BFF newsgroup that Ben is doing a solo techno album.
Maybe it's just me, but this kind of seems like the antithesis of
everything he's about musically.
Even if this is "old news" to you wiser, more enlightened folks here
(which, since the album isn't even OUT yet, I don't think it qualifies as
such) I am new to this list so please, indulge my ignorance. My apologies
for not posting something more "Relevant", like weighing in on the "Have
they sold out" issue, or telling people what color the text in my digest
was today.
- - What is "Fear of Pop" (i.e. what specific style of music, has anyone
heard it)
- - Is it all instrumental?
- - Is this going to be released under the name "Ben Folds", or is "Fear of
Pop" the band's name?
Any other detail, like release date, that anyone knows would be helpful.
I'm going to take some midol now,
Mat

Woo hoo! Congrats guys! What is it? Something like 12 weeks in the top
3,4,5 on the net 50. I'm impressed.
Also, I was reading "The Drum Media", a music publication in the Sydney
area, the other day and Brick is no. 15 on the ARIA top 20 alternative
singles in the week ending April 5 1998. It was 16 the week before.
Anyway, I was just passing on the wonderful news.

I went to see Dave Letterman the other night and during one of the commercial
breaks the CBS Orchestra played BOWCCL as they have many times before, but
since this time I was in the studio I noticed that the bass player (a blond
guy) was singing along during the "why don't we pitch it to the Franklin
f**king Mint" part. I was rather impressed. I have so much more respect for
the band now. They might have chosen to play Ben Folds Five because they
actually like the band. I always thought the Max Weinberg Seven was the
coolest talk show band, but maybe not...
My few cents, Jen

Hi all
On a very rainy Thursday night I stopped into a local record shop to dry
off, mainly. I don't shop there often because there inventory isn't too
well organised and their prices aren't that great, usually. They also lean
more toward the obscure and hardcore selections.
Anyhow, I was looking through their used CD section under "B"(I was
looking for a Black 47 disc) and came across the BFF "Summer EP"! 4 bucks!!
Tracks: 1. Where's Summer B?(4:06) Album Version
2. Where's Summer B?(4:06) Edit Version("and your IT'S out on the lawn")
3. Video(4:07)
4. Alice Childress(4:25)
Comes with no CD insert card inside the jewel case but the disc is a color
band photo and the lyrics to Summer are printed on the inside of the clear
backer.
My question is: how rare is this? I bought it and don't want to part with
it, but how much is it worth? Private e-mails are OK.
